Many thanks, James. Another master-class. 'I'm Hummin' to Myself' was composed in 1932 by Sammy Fain, Herbert Magidson and Monty Siegel. As you can hear, it's a minor key tune (G minor). What a delight to hear it played in this protracted and classy manner, at such a leisurely tempo, with a full one and a half ensemble choruses before Shaye signals to Barnabus to take the lead from the Middle Eight. Then we have the neat off-beats in the Middle Eight of the third (Craig's) chorus, signalled by Shaye at 03:01. Then, during the back-line chorus, we have the lovely colouring from the front line during the Middle Eight and the clever syncopation during the final eight bars. To round it all off, there's the concluding free-style full ensemble chorus, showing collective improvisation at its best. The arrangement has matured since the beginning of 2020, when you filmed a performance ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHy3gHZtppd-nJo ) in which they played this tune slightly more quickly.

I just came across the original sheet music from 1932. Originally sung by Joan Abbott in "George White's Scandals"

@@eriklowney Wow! What good fortune. You have an opportunity to study the Verse (which Tuba Skinny don't play) and to see in which key the song was originally written.

What a great song. The feet were OK, even with the peculiar choice of shoes.

Tryna humming this to myself, but I can't do all the 'voices' at once... 🤐 How frustrating. Tibetan Throat-Singing lessons won't help, 'cause I don't have a Tibetan throat. I shall now MAKE something to hide under.😑🙄👀

Old Tupelo passed away 2-3 years ago. If you're walking down Royal St. one foggy night and see the ghostly apparition of a dog, never fear. It will be old Tupelo waiting for his buddies to return. R.I.P. old fellow.🐕
