Hi Murky... I am analizjng the model helix 9 but it's not easy to understand what I need to and as you have and know this unit very well i have 3 question. 1. What is the Watt power of the transducer of the helix 9 model ? 2. What is the maximum depth you can search the bottom with this unit in salt water ? 3. Must the side view transducer be purchased seperatly ?

Just a question, if I buy a helix 9 MSI+ G4N will the original transducer that it comes with that I would install at the back of the boat be able to use 360 imaging? Or do I need to buy a separate transducer that is specifically for 360 imaging?
@MurkyWaterCentral2 жыл бұрын
+Mr Roger no you would have to buy 360 transducer for 360 option

We have a Helix Si G2N unit. Someone has a 360 Imaging unit that I can buy. Can I run it off the one unit. You keep talking about two units and networking them together. I would want to try running just my Helix unit for everything. I am considering using the 360 imaging while trolling for salmon. We have a Minnkota 56 pound thrust bow mount. I would use the Minnkota just to deploy the 360 unit and my 9.9 kicker for trolling for salmon. Does that sound like a doable plan?
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
+Bob Askey you can run it on one unit. Make sure your Helix is compatible for 360.I think at minimum you have to have a Helix 9 dI.make sure to go on Humminbird website and look at the features your unit will give you.

Also I have the helix 8 gn4 withe both mega side and down imaging. I want to purchase the helix 9 with mega down for the 360. Do you think the two units can be linked like the ones on your boat? Thank you
@MurkyWaterCentral2 жыл бұрын
You have to look at the specifications on a helix 8 and see. I dont believe an 8 will work. It was helix 9 and above for pairing units together
@gregmyers18643 жыл бұрын
Sure the side imaging is not coming from the console SI unit? Disconnect the 2 units and see if the 360 does side imaging..
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
+Greg Myers yes, 360 is basically a rotating side image. You can go in and select side image and it will tell you, preparing pod for side imaging. The pod will line up straight and give you the side image view. And sometimes I don’t even have my console unit on before I deploy my 360 and it ask me if I want to set pod for side image.
@gregmyers18643 жыл бұрын
@@MurkyWaterCentral For it to “line up” is the stand alone GPS puck required?
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
+Greg Myers 360 doesn’t need gps/hs to operate and you can use 1 gps via Ethernet across the hole system if you want gps like for the use with a Ultrex. I use a fortrex.

+Greg Myers check out the video in my favorites on my channel from Russell marine. How to get Si with 360 on a DI unit.
@toad4652 жыл бұрын
Ok so I found one answer in comments. I was wondering if the SI was juston the eithernet. But you explained hiw the 360 locks forward fir SI. Thanks My next question is does the 360 do 2D Chirp DI, and sonar DI at deeper depths? Or will it require the rear unit to do that over the net? I fish DI alot due to fishing deeper water most of the time.
@MurkyWaterCentral2 жыл бұрын
+Todd Long the 360 will do side imaging. The 2d and di will be from the back transducer.
@MurkyWaterCentral2 жыл бұрын

What type of battery are you running? Are you running a house battery or just a starting/hybrid battery? What type of run time are you seeing running these graphs and the mega360?
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
I’m running power fast deep cycle marine batteries which came with the boat equipped from Express I’m guessing. I run both units with my 360 in the water 6-8 hrs a day and it never goes down or shows signs of getting week. I’m running in a 24volt configuration with a digital volt meter on the console and one on the front and they never below 12 bolts

So 360 not good if trolling at 1.5 to 2 mph?
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
+Bob Askey yes it is good at 1.5 to 2 mph but better if you sitting still because the pod is rotating all the time if your moving it’s taking a lot of information in to deliver a picture and just better not moving. Compared to a traditional sonor that doesn’t move you have to be moving to get new information. All the 360 is is a rotating side scan basically
@MurkyWaterCentral3 жыл бұрын
+Bob Askey hope this helps you. Thank you!!
@Askeyb20113 жыл бұрын
@@MurkyWaterCentral Someone else said they use the 360 to stop and spot Kokanee in lakes then jig. They also said not really good for trolling. They recommended Garmin Panoptics that will scan ahead while moving. Not sure if the system has been updated at all. I would have to have a second unit to do that.
@Askeyb20113 жыл бұрын
@@MurkyWaterCentral We anchor fish for salmon and Steelhead on a local river. The 360 would likely work then. Only problem now is wild fish groups have been filing lawsuits costing Oregon roughly $100,000 every lawsuit they file. Mostly all based on false information and using our actual laws to protect wild endangered salmon and Steelhead against our hatchery programs. Summer Steelhead runs are now next to non existent because of Army Corps, wild fish groups and poor management by state.
