I've found in shallower water turn Sensitivity down below 10, over say 25ft. of water turn sensitivity up just a bit at a time. This seems to clean up the image quite a bit on the screen. Great videos guys! I appreciate the time and energy you guys put into making these videos to help people out on the water! ‼️I have a video request‼️ with the way the water fluctuates so much during this time of year, could you guys do an in depth video of what you guys generally fish and how the fish set up/ react when they go from being up shallow in bushes, cover etc. when the water rises, to what they do and how to catch them when the water starts dropping again. It’s always been a tough time for me to catch/pattern fish under those conditions. Thanks for the fishing knowledge you guys share!

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Tim, I’ve owned my Helix7G2N over two years now and probably viewed two hundred videos on how to use the unit. However I must say your video is the first to explain How&When to use thoseures in practi features in layman terms! I don’t consider myself a complete idiot but I probably only get 20-30% of understanding other videos explaining the features in layman’s terms. I hope you go thru some of the other important features that are there also to explain exactly what you are seeing . . I think now i might have to upgrade my unit to receive the Mega imaging also!!!

Tim just a suggestion, when you are doing shortcuts on the screen like split screen or going from one image full screen and switching to the other I would appreciate you verbalizing how you performed that task. I have a Solix10 and would love to know the shortcuts. I am a visual learner as I don't like having to pick up a manual unless I absolutely have to. Thanks, good job!

I picked up a Garmin 93sv with Panoptix Livescope. I spent the last 3 days doing nothing but slow cruising with my dogs in side vu 455 Hz just to mark waypoints on 2 different lakes. I sill have quite a bit more to cover but I feel like I'm going to spend a lot less time casting at nothing in the future. I also practiced flipping to a different chart to navigate to my waypoints. That seemed like it would be easy but it took a little more effort than I thought. The next time out, I will take a little time turning up to higher frequency and seeing if I can find fish with the side vu and the clear vu. I'm also going to experiment with he split screen 2d sonar to see if I can find the schools of white perch. Appreciate the guidance.

Thank you for the great content. My son and I took out our boat on Merrill Creek in NJ. The depth at Center is 200 feet. We came up empty that day and met an older angler who pulled in 10 lake trout. His secret was downrigger. We bought 2 from Cabelas the next day and set them up on the back of the boat. We have a 20’ seaark Jon boat. The bow has a minn Kota ultrex and we have a hummingbird helix 8 MPI GPS G3N and the transducer is in the back of boat. Only problem was, when the minn Kota was connected they used the transducer from the front of boat. I felt we were missing the fish because by the time we saw the fish on hummingbird they were at least 20’ back plus the distance we let line out, close to 50 feet. Is is better to use the original transducer that was on rear of boat or is there a way I can use both? I see In your video you have 2 hummingbirds. Sorry for the long post. Any help is appreciated

Two questions, 1 - How does CHIRP play into the entire frequency thing? And 2 - A very important setting you didn't go over is "Chart Speed"? I know you're supposed to adjust the chart speed based on the speed of the boat, but if you could shed some light on that. I saw yours was set on 5, but what speed are you running with that chart speed? Any advise on adjusting that vs your travel speed? (I have a Humminbird).
@straightwhitemale57535 ай бұрын
Chirp just gives a clearer views. The sonar beams are more like waves instead of chirps so it gives a crisper image. The chart speed, I'm not sure what you're asking. I have a Humminbird also.

When searching in 8' of water, what frequency would you recommend for SI? What distance left and right?
@benwilkens62894 жыл бұрын
I think the point of the frequency changes was how far out he wanted to see. If you’re searching a large area and want max range, go 455. Once you know your target and have gotten closer to it(within 75-100 feet), switch to 855 or mega. I think this should work in 8 fow, just my thoughts though, cheers.

With an older garmin unit with lower frequency the fish follow the boat. Do you find 1KW too high? I feel like I'm cooking the fish! @gregc26214 жыл бұрын
@@sherrywilliams808 I would've got 100lb test steel leader with a 1/16oz weight to a 5/0 heavy wire flippin hook with a 2.5" ned bait. Pitch it out in short pitches and let it hit bottom then work it in like a jerkbait, reeling as fast as you can. Once I catch a few like that, I grab my old school anchor and swing it around like a lasso, being sure to release it so it drops precisely on top of the structure. That hard impact will crash into the cover on the structure, banging around and kicking up bottom sediment, attracting fish from all over the lake to come running to your bait. Works every time.

More please!, of special interests in 360 mega imaging and Mega Live., I think a whole video of using side imaging and showing fish that are "hidden" in shadows and "white rice" on the bottom would be helpful. Using Down imaging and 2 D are easy but actualy seeing fish on side imaging that are suspended and near the bottom are what I would like to see more of. Show the graph, give people a chance to identify what they are seeing na then point them out. No one has done a video like this. If you are not fishing an area that has fish, you are wasting your time. Help us find fish!
