I thought you were feeding them them peanut butter too! And I thought I have to see why and if its safe! Lol. Love your joy, love how you get right into it not like a lot of videos where they talk forever first and I have to leave the site! Your joy is infectious, I too have had hundreds of hummingbirds on my farm, they always shared nicely. But right now I have a very greedy little guy who chases any others away!! He uses more energy trying to get others away than I've ever seen!! I think its because I only have 3 feeders out, could that be?? And, the other evening it was in the low 30s. We found a tiny one lying still on the deck. We brought him in and I held him in a nice, clean washcloth upp to my breast and could feel his little heartbeat. I held him for a long time then had to do dishes so I put him in a cozy little box in the washcloth by the warmth. I started to do dishes and he started flying around the kitchen!! He landed on the swag chain to the light and stayed above me as I did my dishes. My husband brought in the feeder and he spent the night. It was too cold outside to send him out. The next morning he flew out the kitchen door!!! I was so happy that the neighbors cat didn't get him!! Thank the Good Lord for hummers and all the birds and creatures of the world! God Bless and thank you!!!

For those who get ants I sprinkle a hefty amount of cinnamon around the base of the pole I hang feeders on. Ants hate the smell and leave the food alone. On a railing I would line up the feeders then make a perimeter but not where the hummers may come in contact with the cinnamon. I also use cinnamon on top of ant hills and they are gone in a couple days. Very cute video. Thank you for sharing.

Mia Meow is right about food coloring... ALSO! If you make your nectar at home with tap water, it's recommended that you boil the sugar water and then let it cool before using. That leaches out the chlorine and chemicals in the water. A note about Orioles too - their fave food is grape jelly so I use small bowls that I hang with wire and keep jelly in them. They're so beautiful to observe in the tree, eating jelly :)

I been told that you shouldn’t have 2 hummingbird feeder close together. Or where they can see each other. In other words they should be around the corner where they don’t notice the other feeder or hummers Is this true? I know you will have the correct answer for me. I recently found you on KZbin and enjoying all of them. You are full of easy and simple way of gardening or whatever you’re talking about. Great job. Keep up the good work. I loved the hummer and container garden on top of each other. Wish I’d thought of that. I’m not as able to garden as I once did. Now I can. I’m telling everyone I know to watch you. Many older folks who are not able to garden. Now they can, thanks to you. Another good thing from you the cost of your ideas is amazing. Thank thank you.

Now I'm curious about what you heard! I know there are lots of people who have great success with lots of feeders close together. On the other hand, some hummingbirds, including Rufous, will claim a particular feeder and chase other hummingbirds away. So for that reason, I was thinking if I had two feeders, I might put one "around the corner."

I will be on the lookout for empty jars from now on and I can’t wait to try this! Thank you for inspiring me. I thank you and the hummingbirds thank you too. The best thing you can feed them is Clearwater 4 parts water, 1 part sugar. Don’t buy the nasty stuff from the store they don’t need the dye they don’t need the red even you put it in the feeder and they’ll come and find it. I like to use the jars that I get spaghetti sauce or Alfredo sauce in they look like canning jars and they have metal screw on lids sometimes they’re like a canning jar
