Richard can tear down and rebuild a motor as quickly as some of us would still be breathing hard, staring, and debating which torx size to use, and where to begin removing fasteners, etc. 😊 😆

Ok, I skimmed this twice. What happened to it? Those busted plastic parts are unacceptable but of course, depending on the source of damage, die cast magnesium might not have fared any better. I'm an electronics guy and have done a lot of surface mount electronics work with various hot air systems. I've repaired numerous pieces of gear with broken plastic parts that cannot be glued. I've used a small hot air wand like a blow torch to "weld" cracked parts together. Generally the plastic has to be "meltable", then I heat an area locally until it is almost liquid on both sides of the crack. Then I just shove the plastic back and forth to sort of mix it. For many plastic, this is VERY STRONG as there is no glue line. The joint is gone. If the part has critical geometry to hold other mechanics, like the cracked case, then no form of repair may be good enough.

Not considering cost or availability, would you choose HP2 or Saber? Or no preference at all?
@ChrisPBacon7413 ай бұрын
I've used both and I think they both do fantastic jobs but I think HP2 is slightly better. I think Richard has said in other videos that HP2 is about as good as it gets but I don't want to speak for him
@em47033 ай бұрын
Saber burns dirtier than HP2. There’s always some black deposits on the sides of the pistons from it. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily, but its throwing some alarm bells to me when hp2 or motul 800 keeps everything sparkling and clean even after hundreds of tanks.

I ran HP2 for while. Actually found it smoked to much. Also personal preference I didn't like the smell. I bought some maxima k2. It's definitely less viscosity than hp2. But burns with less smoke. And doesn't mess with my smeller. Saws seem to like it. 🤷

@@richardflagg3084 Richard, I love your videos! I've been alternating between the HP2 and the red VP Racing synthetic with similar results at 40:1. Zero carbon on the piston crown and the crankcase and underside of the piston have a healthy amount of pooling, "slicker than a minnow". The VP two-stroke is readily available at my local Walmart at $10 for 16oz. Thanks again!

Hi Richard, your customer is lucky to have a repairman like you. The quality of the dealer shops these days is a shame. If it ain’t new then they just call a friend for help. THey would be better off watching this channel, they might just learn something. I for one would like to you see you back on the mule saw for some additional data and “reality” of the bike 2T oils and what they can do for a saw. I know you like the Honda stuff, and I just might break my promise of never using anything but the Motul 800 2T in my saws because I know you pretty well now and I know that is a good thing.I did like the film coverage that was in this case, but that just might be the blubbering of a new saw that didn’t even break in yet. The good thing is if you’re going to buy new and break it in, that a good way to start and not use the Stihl oil unless the fear of God sets in that the warranty will be gone if something like that happens. At $1800+ in my area for a 500i, 32”, I’d think about it too, unless I had you around to save it! ;) I hope the guys using this rig learned a valuable lesson. Thanks for the great info as always.

Hello, a little off topic question I rebulided our old ms250 chainsaw with aliexpress carburator kit and a near localshop cheap cylinder and piston make it to run tried to tune but either lean or reach its going bog dawn in wood also after tried to cut i notice some burned black oil betwen the exhaust and engine driping down -My main question is its can be a bad cylinder by factory or it would not run at all if the cylinder is bad ?
@kdcustoms12723 ай бұрын
Sounds like it's running really rich. Or something with the carb isn't stopping the fuel from filling the carb and it's over flowing. I don't know a lot about saws but I have worked on many carbs on atvs and mx bikes.
