okay but the way Quasimodo is hunched over and limping during “what makes a monster” and then stands straight up and walks without a limp for “and what makes a man” ????? CHILLS

The Finale to this musical might be my favorite finale ever of a musical, it's so beautiful. I remember when I saw this in person for the first time, I only had listened to the soundtrack and didn't know the ending line about the skeletons was coming, and when I heard it I was overwhelmed and teared up. Olivia delivered that line so beautifully

1. It is pretty clever and ballsy how they combined the book and the Disney version very well 2. The Frollo in this version is very different and a little bit sympathetic compared to the original film version, and yet he still manages to be the scariest character here. Kudos to that guy 3. Esmeralda, Frollo, and Quasimodo’s death are very well done here 4. Everyone’s voices is stunning here 5. I would just like to call out the people who made the set, especially the bells, because goddamn, they’re gorgeous 6. The gargoyles weren’t really my favorite characters in the original but having them both be the narrators and the surrogate to reveal the conflicts within Quasimodo is damn great. 7. While he may not have a sign language dude like in the other productions, I did like that they kept the part that Quasimodo is mostly deaf and has a hoarse underused voice, except when he’s singing a soliloquy.
@CreepDestroyer2 жыл бұрын
the other version, the actor who played Quasi WAS deaf. That's why he used sign language

I love the fact you didn't use the happy Disney ending. It was heartbreaking. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole cast were amazing, but I have to say the actor who played Quasimodo blew me away. From the first time he came on stage I felt total sympathy for him, and when he says Esmerelda's name after she dies, I was in tears.

I went and saw this at a local play house in my state, and freaking SOBBED at this part behind my dang mask. So touching and moving, one of the greatest stories ever written. I've sang "Someday" for talent shows and fundraisers, along with "God Help the Outcasts" so it's fair to say I love the movie and the musical production so much, but it hits me right in the feels every time!

What for a marvelous MASTERPIECE to combine the original rather dark original novel´s tune, with the enchanting melodies from Walt Disney. Even added lyrics to normally cinematic tunes! And the stage setting is such incredible handwork here. But on top of all the lovely cast, how they emphasized each characters´traits. This gave me quite some goose bumps. Thanks sooo much for sharing the videos with all of us here.

It was great! Can you imagine if Disney tried to animated this adaptation instead of what they did in the Hunchback of Notre Dame Disney movie?
@Marionettenfan4 жыл бұрын
@@joshualowe959 Whelp, considering how SLIM the border was for the Disney Adaption to keep it "family friendly", the movie still is quite from thr darker tone. I grew up with that version, only to appreciate the original's one later on even more in a comprehensive manner of an adult and loving BOTH, since it did a deep inpact in my life...no matter how cheesy this sounds here.

Marionetten Fan Disney actually decided that for their musical of the HOND. So they used everything from the original musical. That doesn’t make it less magnificent anyway :)

This is a sad tragedy between two loves like Romeo and Juliet but unfortunately this isn't Shakespeare because is a dark novel story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The story is beautiful but I still prefer the Disney version because it may not be exactly like the original but at least it has a happy ending.

This is based by the Disney Broadway version (IDK how the Disney Broadway change the story , maybe that's why it didn't reach Broadway
@jonathangoeldner35604 жыл бұрын
if you want the Disney-ified ending then watch the movie, but this is completely keeping to the original Victor Hugo book - his Les Miserables story isn't a happy story either FWIW.
@jonathangoeldner35604 жыл бұрын
@@earlvincetinaja2243 Disney's theatrical division did both west and east coast professional theatre productions at La Jolla and Paper Mill, this production with the school cemented and proved that they give regional theatres the option to put on this show. They also did this with 'Freaky Friday' which by the way is also Broadway worthy and worth checking out - the Disney Channel movie version was a valiant attempt but deleted a whole bunch of great songs.
