Witnesses are not required. God is your witness. Testify privately at home if you want. No need to hesitate anymore.

You are right about doing witnessing in private but doing it in public is better by many ways like Umma knows that you are Muslim if any happens to you they can witness. Sometimes it is good for some people to do testimony in private and others in public due to their families and conditions of life so it can take time until your faith is increased you can do in public.

Corrected Witnessed are not required but its important. To show that you a Muslim and people witness you they will know. It's prevent a future event if anything happens to the reverted and people know they are Muslim. Same things to a hearing court which needs a witness to win a case.

This is my favourite words of Allah O believers! Do not enter the homes of the Prophet without permission ˹and if invited˺ for a meal, do not ˹come too early and˺ linger until the meal is ready. But if you are invited, then enter ˹on time˺. Once you have eaten, then go on your way, and do not stay for casual talk. Such behaviour is truly annoying to the Prophet, yet he is too shy to ask you to leave. But Allah is never shy of the truth. And when you ˹believers˺ ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a barrier. This is purer for your hearts and theirs. And it is not right for you to annoy the Messenger of Allah, nor ever marry his wives after him. This would certainly be a major offence in the sight of Allah.
