You might want to put anti gel into your gas tank if that's a duramax diesel. Sometimes with freezing temperatures the diesel can gel up causing the truck not to start. Also not sure if your model came with a block heater but if you're planning on driving throughout the winter it might be a good idea to invest in one so that your oil and diesel injection don't freeze or gel

Most stations up in id,wa,mt sell blended diesel during the winter, that said I also carry some power service diesel 911 for when it get super cold

Try sanding in a different direction with each grit of sand paper. Because it will help you see when you have all the previous sandpaper scratches sanded out

If your ran all the fuel out of the truck you might have to take the fuel filter out and Prime it again. That’s what happened on my semi truck one time but it might be different in a pick up truck. Hope that helps

I drive diesel trucks for a living, I always turn the key in the on position til the glow plug light goes off, and then i turn it over, and I live in Canada so she gets cold here, try turning the key for a minute or 2 before you turn it over you should be okay.

i hear you on being sick of body work for a while, im in process of chopping and swapping rear quarter panel. someone side swipped me and thought it be a great learning exp to do it myself. got a replacement clip. and holly shit, im about 2k spot welds in and still drilling ffor panel transfer.. sucks ass!!!! You would of had a air lock in the fuel system, the best way got rid of if you run out of fuel again is to crack open the fuel line on top of the injector then turn the engine over until fuel sprays out the fuel pipe then close it back off. You may have to do it on all the injectors. The engine should then start with no issues.

Truck did this to me before as well, turns out it was from backing in to my sloped driveway wasn’t allowing the pump to prime. Just pull in forwards from now on. Should solve the issue.

So duramax has a fuel rail pressure if it sat over a couple of days in the cold it will bleed down. And when you go to start it and the vehicle registers no presssure it will set the code. And after a couple ignition cycles of it having pressure it will clear out.

It could be that the engine had to adjust the fuel trim and that can cause a check engine light and when it fixes it self if it does it will disappear such as engine is running lean or rich.

Believe it or not you can start nibbing with 800 grit, just cut down a block & use 3 inch paper. You can probably pull off 10 or so passes then go 1500, 2000, 3000 so forth

Do 1000 for dirt in the paint then 1500 to 2000. You can go 2500 but I really only used that for black or dark colors

The truck problem used to happen on my subaru legacy, I had to feather the gas pedal while cranking it to get it going, i researched it alot, but apparently by pressing the pedal, you're sending through the fuel line again. Often happens when you're low on gas and the fuel line doesn't have enough fuel in it.
