Why did DR end up at the back? He was pitted on lap 7 off the same tyres Tsunoda drove on for 30+ laps. It put him in 18th and behind the DRS train and stuffed his race completely. A team strategy mistake as team management said not helping DR

Yuki had a great drive, but Ric got given TERRIBLE strategy. He was on mediums and pitted on lap 7 with all the soft tyre drivers. He went from about to get clean air to back into traffic. He had 2 pit stops before Yuki had his 1.

Hence why they were worried about LH when he pitted. They shouldn’t have been, but track temp had dropped and merc was fast at that point. They slowed again a few laps later so it didn’t matter, but I understand the reason

The bias against Ricciardo is insane… VCARB pit him on lap 8 to cover the soft runners while he was on mediums which was a mind bogglingly terrible call, then put him in a DRS train. Once he got clear air in the last stint he was faster than Yuki.

Courthard was saying that he wished he had done so in his career. But I think in reality it is the kind of thing that is easy to say when you are not in the car, but hard to do when you are. At the end of the day, this is your boss telling you to do something and getting a reputation as someone ignoring team orders won’t ever get you a seat.

It’s definitely not. That’s almost entirely due to one of us being born into a very wealthy family, having immense privilege and opportunity, using that to develop elite driving skills and amass a credible single seater career alongside a relationship with an F1 team. None of that was down to being willing to follow an illogical and self defeating team order. But I appreciate the attempted dig.

RB20, MCL38 and now W15 car are using Multimatic DSSV dampers, although only the first two car has them on both axels. These are not active per-se, but they’re pretty much damn advanced in order to act like that!

Are you a Max fan? I don’t see the difference between Max’s move up the inside here on Lewis and Lando’s move up the inside in Austria where he got the track limits penalty. Everyone went nuts that Max tightened his line and how that impacted Lando to justify Lando going off track (having just got a black/white flag).

@@spencerross3008huge difference. Lando’s lock up and running wide were largely caused by Max jinking in the braking zone. But you know the main similarity? Max was let off the hook both times despite being in the opposite position in each one.

Lando should have let Piastri passed immediatly after the pit stop undercut and then beaten Piastri fair and square but instead Lando stayed out until the end of the race before letting him go by... As Matt was saying about more "casual" (non derogatory) fans, my 6 year old is a huge Lando fan and couldnt understand why he had to give the position back and was nad as hell. Its a damn shame for both drivers, Lando wanting to get into the title fight and Oscar looking for his first win which can now seem tarnished. The team put both of them in a bad position not as far as the race but where they had to make decisions they should have had to.

It’s clear that Piastri has a had a guts-full of being no2 driver since Silverstone. He’s decided that he wants more. He’s CHALLENGING Norris now as first driver. Lando will respond and indeed should have responded by just driving to victory.

McLaren are so incapable in terms of strategy and particularly communication, especially on Lando's side. We've heard things in the last two races that we've never heard before and I hope will never hear again because there's only so much cringe one can take. The communication between Norris and his race engineer is just... strange.. and very weak on McLaren's end

Brad is being extremely shortsighted. It's not the first time Oscar has gotten the short end of the stick. If Oscar is Perez in AD21, and you've spent the season giving favourable decisions to the other driver, what do you think is going to happen? Norris isn't playing the team game. It is important in the long term. Verstappen could get disqualified in the next few races and totally swings the title race, you can't argue a hypothetical title fight. You can only do what's right in the very moment. The mess-up is 100% on McLaren as a team, but Norris hasn't covered himself in glory by behaving the way he did. And Oscar won't forget it.

I'm amazed at how people interpreted GP's "childish" comments. They were not pointed to Max. He just said that he is not going to start arguing with the other teams, as he felt it was a childish thing to do.

Comments are dead right, if Max had stayed up until 3 am and then won then he could stick 2 fingers up to everyone. But to do it and then have his worst race for probably 3 years, obviously in a bad temper right from the off, turned the air blue, and pissed off his engineer - should have been a little more contrite about it.

Lando would have won the race if Piastri pitted 1st for the last stint. But it seems they panicked most likely due to what LH did to them at Silverstone and made the wrong choice. They should have kept cool, realised they were on for the 1-2 win and let them race. Now they have thrown away 7 points in the driver's championship and left a sour taste in everyone's mouths. Piastri trying to sound happy about a win which was handed to him was painful to listen to.....what winner has had to apologise in his victory radio message?!! As for Max, hope everyone realises now that he is the same petulant driver.....he hadnt shown it for the past 2 years because there was zero pressure on him from his teammate and the competition. What a c. I dont buy that that's how you have to be to be a winner.....is LH like that?

I've seen the argument so many times here and elsewhere that if Lando had let Oscar through immidiately after the second stop he could've then caught and passed him on track. This is such nonsense. As soon as Oscar was back in front the radio message would've come to hold position to finish. People saying they were told they were able to race earlier on clearly didn't hear the whole message... it was "you can race UNTIL THE MID 40S". They were allowed to race until the second stop and then it was done. By refusing to swap for so long Lando proved his point that he was faster on track, & let out some frustration no doubt, but he did as asked in the end. The team look like absolute clowns.

I might be biased as a Max fan here but I love the passion which Max expresses during the race - shows how much he wants to win even after accomplishing so much success. Although in different way but I see that in very few drivers like Lewis, Michael, Alonso, Senna..

It wasn't passion, it was frustration and a whole lot of privilege. I hope Max in his commentary towards the team included that he didn't forget they brought him a lot of success as well. Also, you're making up the Hamilton, Alonso, Schumacher and Senna thing. In the time of Schumacher and definitely Senna we hardly ever heard the team radio. Not to the extent we hear it today. Also none of these drivers went as far as Max went being as disrespectful to their own team. Alonso towards Honda but that was different (worse since it was longer and not justified and based on him not understanding the situation and inlike Max being emotional Alonso was deliberately a bully).

Personally regardless of all this childish “but but xxx driver did much better” Yuki drove a stunning race to make the one stop work and score 2 crucial points. Shoulda coulda woulda, Yuki made that one stop work with brilliant drive. Whether Danny might have done better is irrelevant now.

7:54 got to disagree. McLaren isn’t clearly the fastest. Hungry is very specific track. Merc as faster last week , McLaren have had some good weekends but it’s not yet clear who’s the fastest overall after upgrades. More different tracks needed for that. Redbull struggled in Monaco which has the same package as hungry in set up. It’s far too early to claim what is being claimed. Redbull are some tracks will still be faster with the speed advantage it has , especially in DRS . Go look at all results. You are over egging this.

F1 team orders are supposed to be banned. I understand radio calls are vital to help organize teams and strategy. Evey pro level sport needs a coach to call plays and statigise players into a formula to improve scoring. Lando had no issues with car and he is -70 to Max. I don't gamble but if money is on Lando then fixing the results moues money. It is like Boxing where a boxer is told to bow out in round 3 to help people who bet against them. You are trying to rig results in the sport and making it like WWF Wrestling where there is a designated Hero and Villian. Red Bull over spent on cost cap and lost wind tunnel time and McLaren have had more tunnel time to develop car. Now McLaren with European updates and Upgrades the McLaren could be the better car.
