If he still had the ambition to win the title (and he could have done, at the right place at the right time), then what is the point in staying? The kind of guy who ends up happily acting as another driver's permanent wingman, has accepted that they are, at best, mid-table, and that compliance is the only way they'll get near race-winning machinery. Staying at Red Bull would have been, for Ricciardo, the ultimate failure.

The problem with a Perez or Riccardo is that they come with a huge fan base. From a business sense that makes them very difficult to fire. They could afford to be more ruthless if they only hire drivers whose popularity Red Bull created.

The pace overhaul of Mclaren vs Red Bull, How much would you contribute it to the balance of aerotesting and computing and how much to Mclaren being brilliant / RB dropping the ball? Would you increase the balance of performance for upcoming seasons and if you could add 1 new balance of performance to F1 which one would it be? Personally I would add a sliding "on track" time for FP1. Team on the lowest position has more FP1 track time VS the highest ranked team, imo it could help the lower ranked teams with the understanding of the tires and give them more real testing time.

It's a combination of lots of factors,aeroelasticity is the obvious one but many people overlook the progress that Mercedes did with their PU and another one is the partnership with Google who developed an outstanding simulator.

I would say that most of the mid table teams will progress up. McLaren & Ferrari come back to promimence. Aston, Audi or Hi-tech for me could make some moves up the ladder. I don't see Red Bull or Mercedes being that competitive but I could be wrong. I think VCARB & Williams will also stay the course. VCARB probably sells its naming rights to another team (F2 or FE) and I think Williams does as well. Williams will keep the name but probably do something like Haas.

As a Lando i'll be honest there isn't really a title fight . Lando and the McLaren have made far too many mistakes . Zandvoort is probably Lando's most complete performance since Miami and even there he got a bad start.

Ricciardo is a one dimensional driver, he can only do well in a car with a very stable rear end, and right now, every team has moved onto the new style of a very active rear end and relying on the driver's talent to catch it during rotation. Ricciardo is old school and simply cannot adapt his driving to fit the new style car. Perez is of the same boat but at least Perez got Verstappen watching over him to protect his seat. Unless Ricciaro adapt and be good with the new style of driving quickly, he got no chance of a comeback.

i don’t think he was getting edged into the #2 spot at all. he was offered an equal salary to max, and while team order drama was inevitable i feel like both guys had the same backing of the team at the time and speed would have dictated everything

It's a simple fix really. Get rid of Helmut and Jos and you'll find that some unity returns to RB. Both these individuals have already shown their cards. They both have tried and failed miserably to usurp Horner and we all know that they are both doing whatever they can to try and cause as many issues as possible for Horner now as they both want his position but to think either one can manage RB like Horner has is completely delusional. Personally I'm tired of both men. Both are failed racing drivers that think they are better than they actually are.

I think people underestimate how much Lando learns. Qualy was a famous weak point for him last year but is now arguably a strength, and based on the past few races, his starts have been improving too
