I feel bad for the people in North Korea. I bet the starving would love to have those hunger breaks they would love to take a break from being hungry. We waste so much food that can be given to the hungry around the world. I have cut down so much on wasting food. I use to waste alot in the past until watching documentaries on the starving and it shocked me so much. I dont complain as much anymore about the taste or how nasty it may look like. When I catch myself doing it I think that I could be one of those people and would love to have a bite of it. Just think every single one of us could be a paycheck away to being homeless and hungry.

Joseph Gutman agreed, like if your gonna die a slow and painful death you might as well try to make it good.
@markpenrice62537 жыл бұрын
Well, on the one hand, that's very true because it makes it less likely it'll actually be eaten, and whilst =something= will still end up consuming it (bacteria, fungi, whatever), if rather slowly because of the salt and other preservatives, it does represent a wasted life and death as both only happened because of a human desire to eat its flesh. On the other, these products are generally made from meat that wouldn't otherwise make it to the plate, or possibly even into pet food. So unpalatable as it might be, it's likely someone will still eat it, and it means the greatest use is being made of each individual animal, which is maybe =more= respectful? It's hard to know which way to swing on that front. I mean, mechanically separated meat and all it's other not-very-nice-when-you-look-into-it siblings like the dreaded Pork Greaves are pretty disgusting when you find out about and/or think about them... but if you're poor (and thus buying a different brand to this, but eh, roll with it, it applies on a general level), and either don't know or choose to actively ignore those issues, it's a useful source of fat, protein, and certain micronutrients that otherwise hard to come by in significant quantities outside of animal tissue or the more expensive kinds of vegetarian food. As well as - in this case, given that it's an all-in-one offering - a generous whack of carbs (both starch and sugar) and salt...
@trillhennyson22457 жыл бұрын
Somregularguy “slow painful death”
@AcornElectron7 жыл бұрын
Probably already been said. The mechanically recovered meat is usually obtained via centrifugal force, the carcasses are spun in a large cylinder, the meat remnants stick to the side, the bones fall into the center.

I just ate and now I feel sick after watching this video. Yaaay, thank you so much, Ashens. Really grateful for this experience right here.
@lloydevans29005 жыл бұрын
The story you heard about the chicken nuggets is not far from the truth: Right method, wrong element. It's not high pressure air that's used, but high pressure water hoses. They are indeed used to blast the tiniest little scraps of "meat" off the carcass, which is then collected by a filter. This is why the resulting gunk is so tasteless - any flavour it might have had was washed out of it. The reason it is so glutinous is that most of the "meat" collected in this way isn't really meat at all, but tiny bits of cartilage and connective tissue (tendons). Tinned food is always cooked in the tin (a form of pressure cooking), which converts a lot of the "mechanically recovered meat" (aka pink slime) into gelatin.

As a regular consumer of Kraft Dinner, I'd say dont use too much water or milk, as it will make it runny. Plus you can let it sit for a couple minute before serving to let the sauce thicken up. Also as a Canadian, and this is going to sound weird, but a lot of people like me enjoy Ketchup in their Mac & Cheese. I wouldn't really get too upset about that, processed food is no where near good enough to complain about putting ketchup or other condiments on it.
@DarknessViper997 жыл бұрын
I remember the first time I tried to make a box of Kraft as a young'un. After that experience, I let my mom make it for me until I moved out, had the same problem like Ashens where I measured it out precisely yet it still came out runny.

I think it is actually available here, if you look in the right places. But that's not really the point of this kind of review, is it... if it's nice, it wouldn't be entertaining :D Plus we do just have readymade mac & cheese in tins, costs just a little more than this packet of dried stuff (Ashens got slightly ripped off, btw - I got one for 29p to try out, though it IS a "tomato" one, which I hope to high heaven means little bits of dried tomato rather than flavouring in the sauce, because rehydrated cheese-and-tomato sauce always tastes universally disgusting and quite a lot like vomit), and having had it... well, I wouldn't really take it as a main meal in preference to other things, especially at the same price, but it was perfectly nice in of itself. Nothing wrong with it. Cheesy, creamy, entertainingly soft noodles, good balance of sauce to noodle, all that. Shake it, cut off the lid, empty into a pan and warm it (or into a bowl and nuke it), job done. Have it with other things if you like, or just by itself. Occasionally nothing else will do, but it's pretty infrequent.

That would be AWESOME!! But he won't. Not unless 100k subs asks for it. Also, weird that your comment is between two 11 month old comments, when yours is just 5 days.

That's about the most sane serving suggestion I've ever seen! Usually they suggest you lay some raw onions, sea salt, flowers and a half-wheel of cheese on a bare table and dring a bottle of honey to go with the other goodness.

Seriously, just me and 5 other people? It works with some foods. Like sandwiches, where the sauce starts to become solid, the meat is harder to chew through and the bun is more crusty. Some people would find this to be gross I guess.

I don't care how random (or not linked to anything) it is, but when Ashens showed the bean bowls, my game of Russian Overkill played the stock scream sound effect that plays, when you begin a level.

Thus ends us watching Ashens. Let us never speak of it again. (until more food videos)

My boyfriend loves the hunger breaks tins. When you said "one serving. Serves one IDIOT!" I laughed so much.
