You guys may not have the money and the flash that they do. But I think your musicians and sounds are better than theirs.

I had just put this on for the third time with the volume up and suddenly my throat tightened and eyes welled. That man's strong clear sustained voice, pure raw emotion tearing at the air. Suddenly a chain of memories unearthed, regretful memories of promising roads offered but not taken, memories of childish teenage follies, memories of loves fought painfully for but never won, memories of loves easily won and then foolishly lost, memories of long friendship and people suddenly gone. Skin tingles listening to this. Top notch backing vocals and harmonies, a searing sax solo, and musicians who respect each other and understand their role in the song. From Meat Loaf to Elton John and now Eric Carmen, Darren: you excel time and time again, matching the calibre of some of the world's greatest vocalists (and producers). You have that lovely bit of grit in your voice a couple of times here that wasn't part of the original. Speaking of eyes, the best part of your delivery of a song is in your eye expressions, whether its a wink, a knowing look, the smile in them - or the cheeky side-eye here at 1:58!
