The F900 GS may be the bike to replace my R1250 GS. I wish BMW would make the boxer smaller, not larger.

Agree. Most if not all motorcycle manufacturers are kinda obsessed with making it "bigger". Might as well get an SUV for that matter.

I think that a smaller boxer wouldn't fit the premium segment, and accordingly the pricetag would be too high to differentiate it from the F 900 series and to cover the increased production costs of the boxer.

Looks like a nice update to the range, would definitely consider this over going bigger with the 1300. One day though maybe a manufacturer will be brave (or tongue in cheek) and come out with a marketing video that doesn’t show world class enduro/mx thrashing these bikes around in a way that is beyond the skills of mere mortals but instead show how these bikes are used for the majority of the time which is a Saturday morning recce, maybe via some light gravel tracks, to the local greasy spoon cafe for a fried breakfast with a bunch of fellow slightly overweight middle aged balding blokes. Just a thought. Go on try it BMW you know you want to, don’t let KTM beat you to the punch!

F900GS - 219kg - 105ch - Is BMW starting to wake up? We just need to include the 20 liters of fuel in the 219 kilograms. 14.5 liters is a joke. It's the smallest tank across all brands, even smaller than the Tenere 700, which has a 16-liter tank. Just a little more effort to reach 19/20 liters to get on the podium (albeit from a distance). Top 6 fuel tanks in mid-size adventure brands, BMW holds the top three positions. - BMW F900GS - 14,5l - BMW F800 GS - 15l - BMW F850GS - 15l - Yamaha Tenere - 16l - Aprilia Tuareg 660 - 18l - Honda 750 Transalp - 19l

I'd love to see a serious update to the G310GS along the same lines. Bump the power to make it a serious KTM 390 Adventure competitor. Offer richer tech, suspension, a GS Adventure variant, etc. Some of us experienced riders really value small displacement bikes off road, but it's tough to buy a good one when they are built with beginners only in mind (and frugal ones at that).

Nice looking bikes but BMW Motorrad continues to ignore the market demand for a full featured and capable lightweight 450-500 cc GS in their continuous rush to make all their adventure bikes bigger. It seems that everyone I talk to wants a 450-500 cc GS and BMW refuses to meet that consumer demand. I believe it's because they don't want to cut into sales of their more expensive 900 and 1300 cc ADV bikes even though they're too much effort for most people to ride off road. Apparently BMW Motorrad fails to understand how many older riders are down sizing because they can no longer ride a 500+ pound bike. These retired BMW riders typically have a lot of money to spend so they wouldn't mind paying a lot more to get a lightweight bike that has the features they want.

I wish BMW offered a G310GS Adventure version with a 5 gallon fuel tank, tubeless spoke wheels, an aluminum bash plate, engine protection bars, larger and more aggressive pegs, and fully adjustable suspension front and rear. Those upgrades would cost BMW less than $400 and I'd pay $2000 more for that bike. Bike manufacturers, not just BMW, look at their small ADV bikes as beginner bikes. They use them to get new customers on the upgrade path to their mid size and full size ADV bikes. Older riders typically have more discretionary income and are buying smaller bikes because they have trouble handling and lifting larger bikes, but I'd argue that a small ADV bike like the G310GS is better off road for all riders. Unfortunately, the marketing department doesn't want to admit this, so they won't sell full featured lightweight ADV bikes because most people wouldn't buy their more expensive larger bikes. That's why smaller ADV bikes are built to a budget and are stripped of premium features. The companies would rather sell someone their first bike, that leads to their second and third. They aren't interested in selling old riders their last bike, so they miss the opportunity to make an R1300GS Adventure profit margin on a G310GS Adventure.

Not much love for the outgoing 750GS? Replacement is identical save for 10Hp more and the included equipment was already available as optional extras. If you spec the bike fully it’s actually marginally more expensive that the outgoing 750. It really needs the adjustable screen the 850 used to get as standard. At least it still comes with a proper rear light instead of the awful indicator/rear light combo on the 900 and the S1000XR.

Die F900GS schließt da nahtlos an und macht vieles etwas besser. Rank und schlank, Leistung im Überfluss und sowohl technisch (Gewicht) als auch optisch abgespeckt. So geht Fortschritt!!

BMW Motorrad desperately needs to add a G310GS Adventure to their lineup. All I really need is a 5 gallon fuel tank because I can't upgrade that in the aftermarket and 2.9 gallons is way too small. The G310GS Adventure could also add common off road upgrades such as an aluminum bash plate, engine protection bars, larger foot pegs, etc. Keep the lightweight that is so important for off road use, particularly for older or smaller riders, but add the features customers want. A lithium battery and maybe a titanium exhaust could offset the added weight of the other upgrades.

They will cost like gold (ESA suspension will be at least an extra 2500) with a Chinese engine that wasn't reliable at all on 800 series. No thanks.

@@bmwmotorrad Thanks, but not helping. I meant the shop manuals available to the mechanics at the dealerships, in full details. The full service info and the equipment needed to service these complex bikes. You know, the Right to Repair thing is what I'm talking about.

i was planning for the tenere 700 but now i am confused and cant wait to check this out as its almost resembles the tenere 700 in looks. If the seat height of f900gs is anywhere below 820mm from the factory then this is the bike for me to retire for sure.

So F800GS and F900GS Adventure are basically the same as their predecessors but with slightly larger displacement and more power. The F900GS seems to be a completely new developed bike and I'm curious as to how it will perform against its competitors such as a KTM 890.

So after all these years you still insist on a naked bike style windscreen for the smaller model?!?! It’s useless. Practically or even fitting with the style and intended use of the bike

I suppose this range will come close to outgoing 1250 range so as to create room at a higher band for the 1300GS range ? Smart move to address a wide range of competition from the Tiger/KTM 900cc pack, AT/ATAS all the way to MS V4S rally pro

Nice! Thank you for showing the bikes and describing the specifications, unlike the typical 99% fact free BMW Motorrad marketing teaser that tries to sell a lifestyle. It looks like BMW Motorrad is finally admitting that lighter motorcycles are better for off road use. Good job on weight reduction although still pursuing ever more displacement and power (the 700 cc mid size adventure bike is now 900 cc and the 1100 cc full size ADV bike is now 1300 cc). I've been reading a lot of comments on the ADVrider forum and what customers *REALLY* want is a lightweight R450GS with a 450 cc boxer engine, essentially a modern lightweight version of the HP2 Enduro. Barring that, I'd like to see a lightweight 450 cc single cylinder GS. The G310GS would be a great platform for a lightweight 50 HP version. It could easily be as lightweight as the G310GS and I'd be willing to pay for the upgrades to save that weight. Barring that, a G310GS Adventure with a much larger fuel tank would be the simplest path to a properly equipped lightweight ADV bike. 11 liters (2.9 gallons) is a bad joke on an ADV bike, even if it gets mileage as good as the G310GS. Customers shouldn't be forced to buy hard panniers (the industry is rapidly moving away from those to save weight and improve safety) to get an Adventure version with a larger fuel tank. All adventure motorcycles should have at least a 300 mile usable range.

This looks like a fantastic bike. Very tempted to upgrade from my 2018 F900XR. However, BMW's customer service has been poor. Motorrad wont let me take my F900XR from the Canada to the US, even though Ive had the bike for 3 years and am moving due to a job placement. I'm left with a bike I can't take with me and it isn't selling. No such issue with Yamaha they gave me the necessary paper work.

So the 900 is now a Transalp from BMW. I'm curious about how those 105 HP will feel on the roads as so far the engine might've been the weakest spot of the current F 850 GS.
