The Australian Hungry Jack's Double Cheeseburger Supreme is basically the same hamburger as the American Burger King Double Supreme which was also introduced in the late 1990s. (The BK Double Supreme is now called the Big King, and is now resembling the McDonald's Big Mac, right down to the middle club bun.)

Albert Calis when Burger King tried to open their first store in Australia they found there was already a fast food shop in Adelaide called Burger King. so basically yes it's a wholly owned subsidiary. Burger King is called Hungry Jack's in Australia.
