Peon death sounds (oohoos) this game: 8 peons enter the fray, only 2 live to tell the tale: 10:56 11:02 11:33 11:34 11:54 One peon (11:16) died off camera, so there was no audible oohoo. Two oohoos from a gnoll ambush: 21:26 21:33 That's 7 oohoos over a 30 minute 40 seconds long game, giving us an average of 1 oohoo per 4 minutes and 23 seconds or so.

It was just a cry of frustration since he knew it was slipping away from him. That is the weakness of his army. It is a death ball basically and very slow moving.

I'm afraid it's impossible to win by this strategy against a good player: they are too big, too slow and require 4 points of food.

Hey @Grubby, I happen to play this pala rifle build very often. What is strong against me is any type of aoe damage, and basically overwhelming and spread damage that I can't heal with my pala only (the healing of priest without brillance is not so strong). Chainlightning Shockwave is strong. Panda is strong, Pitlord is strong (gotta be careful of the paladin-pew-pew on him though). Stomp can be very strong, but you only have 1 or 2 if you're lucky because of having to be in range of siphon (invis or invu pot can be super valuable to start the fight). Unit wise, I guess grunts + lightning shields (very few priest dispell without brillance) + purge to prevent movement can be quite strong. If you manage to reach tier3 bloodlusted taurens is impossible to counter. Kodo's were fun, but I don't think they're very indicated against rifle, they get nukked so quickly being unarmored vs piercing. Also, there is a secret about pala : usually no one focusses him, assuming he will d-shield (that has not been skilled), but this army without the pala is trash (if he banishes him, it's a good time to chainlightning shockwave his beardy-ethereal face)

Banish and mana steal feels so damn strong. Banish cool down needs to be expanded. He banished half your army(like 4-5 kodos) in like 5 seconds lol

I find it very interesting that you can Taylor your bill based off a player's preference. I also find a very interesting that the game can be versatile that way, or if you need to switch your plans, it's not incredibly difficult to do that. That's what gives the game so much diversity that everybody can play is their own play style. And have the ability to fight against. Not just the players placed out but the race itself lol. To me tells me there's lots of balance in the game or could be worked upon

HERE'S AN IDEA: Eating higher level units with Kodos and then loading Kodos inside zeppelins and Hold position above water, so if the opponent kills them with air units it still loses his army. Will this work? :D

Yes it’ll work but it’s a waste of money and supply by doing that. Rather eat units and keep with the army. Eating 10 supply of units doesn’t automatically decrease the opponent’s supply but removes the unit from fights. So in a 50 Vs 50 it’ll be 40 food fighting. Plus losing more value since kodo’s have drums aura.

Small thing. Shouldn't you put helm of valor on the FS and the mantel of intel both on the FS? You need the range damage output+ chainlightnings vs astral form enemy units. You can't allow him free saves all the time. And how about shockwave instead of stomp?! Aoe and ignoring the Pala aura. TC can also better dodge the siphon mana.

Helm of valor doesn't increase FS damage output though, but yes I think shockwave is usually better against human.

I think the stun has better synergy with chomping kodos and has the benefit of stopping the mana drain and pala heal in a clutch situation. But SW definitely would have really high value of dmg and not having to get close to cast.

Apropos another thing that ignores the aura is catapult burning oil. It also synergises with raider base raiding.

I think orc is super broken race. Doesnt mean its strongest race but its hurt so much to watch or play against this style: Orcs have milion ways to stun you every second, make it impossible to run out the fight. They have Tauren Chief with stomp and SH with hex, Blade with runing and attack speed like F1 car - stuninning you with most OP orb every 3 second or faster. Riders have ensnare, kodos can eat your units so you also loose control. Dont forget both shamans can also spell some magic that stun and slow you 😂 And even if you make some micro god job and manage to escape somehow... Then they have scroll of speed so they can catch you and start instant stun you once again XD

Would have been good to Ensnare Blood Mage to stop Siphon Mana more often -- doing it towards the end, but let Siphon Mana go for a long time in much of the mid game. (Spoiler space) Kind of counter-intuitive that mass Kodos would counter mass Rifles. Then on the other hand, opponent should have been better at keeping Rifles away from Kodos.

@@saimyintmyat9373 True, but opponent didn't succeed on many occasions even when Grubby wasn't using a Speed Scroll (which is, after all, a limited resource). Then again, the opponent was neither Happy nor a Night Elf.

Agreed he probably could have been faster on the draw to ensnare bloodmage, but he also had a somewhat limited amount of ensnares that he was prioritizing for the rifles and casters and it seems he felt that was more important than preserving the mana on his heroes

Imagine if Raiders can get an upgrade where like Kodos, they can abduct ensnared enemies of a certain size and unload them into one of those hanging cages(that you presumably own from buying) After unloading, you get to spend gold to sell them into slavery over the course of some time, basically paying half the unit's value to get the full value later. If the Raider carrying the abducted unit dies, or if the occupied Cage gets destroyed, the unit goes free.

At the very least it'll emphasise orc's hit and run ability even more, and make you feel fear when a group of them pass by your workers or get behind your backline The counter to this would probably be either having a properly defended base, or having an army filled with units that don't fall under the valid size, like Knights, Bears, or Tauren, and having good cc like mass Sorceress or Talons would probably help too

Grubby says it a lot. If you can’t kill a unit don’t bother attacking it. Pala has divine shield which doesn’t last forever but it’s 15 seconds. Imagine focusing a unit for 5-10 seconds to get it to 10% then it shields for 15 seconds. Now you you have to change targets when you could’ve just focused 1-2 riflemen from the start and know for sure you could’ve kill them. Watch other pros or when grubby cast and you’ll see pros focus non heroes more and only focus heroes when they can guarantee a kill.

yep. 30s minimum spent on pala, plus extra time to surround. He can also buy lesser invuln or heal pot, and of course he has TP. At that point, multiple grunts, wolves, raiders are toast and you’ve lost the trade quite hard

I don't play wc3, but Blood/ Pala seems so unbalanced. No? It feels like you have to be leagues better at the game than the other player to just barely scrape by.
