Still trash anyways, I used to eat these in my teens and twenties but by the time I hit 32-33 I would just get sick after eating them and couldn't keep them down. Just massive pain in my abdominal region to the point I would have to lay down. Then an hour later I'd have explosive diarrhea while puking into a trash can. At that point I switched to healthier options lol, just couldn't do it anymore lol! I did eat these almost daily while single though which probably didn't help, was just convenient to get home from work and zap them in the microwave. Hungry Man's, Hot Pockets, and Chunky soup for dinner and fast food for lunch, used to eat McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese meal every day as well because McDonald's was only a block away from my job. Don't even think I touched a fresh fruit or vegetable after grade school lol, wasn't healthy for sure. 20 years of eating processed foods just did me in. I know a 60 year-old guy at my current job who eats like I used to but I guess he got better intestinal genetics.

Great vid. More reason why I make my own vs buying over priced, over processed meals such as this on. I'm shocked every time I see a person at the grocery store with a significant number of frozen dinners in their cart. Cooking from scratch from basic ingredients is so easy, so much better quality, so much less fat / salt / chemicals, if you know just a few basic skills. Here's an idea for one of your eating on a budget meals: We managed to get a pack of chicken drumsticks for 98 cents a pound from the local Winco. There were 14 of them in the pack for right about $5 - 36 cents each. More commonly, they're $1.48, but even then, they'd be only be about 54 cents each. Bake 'em with some basic seasoning (salt and pepper) or do them on the grill, whichever. Add in a decent serving of rice or some mashed potato, and a bag of inexpensive frozen veggies, or canned veggies, whichever is less expensive, and you'd have a complete meat-starch-veg dinner at a frugal cost, if not quite meeting your general standard for a budget / survival meal. 1 drumstick for a small child, 2 for an adult and you could get 7-10 servings out of that pack of chicken legs. I'll be eating the last 2 of these drumsticks we have leftover in the fridge for dinner tonight. Another option for the meat - I was just at the Winco today and they have frozen chicken leg quarters, $5.99 for a 10 pound bag (they're bragging how much less it is than a Kroger or Walmart). Anyways, I ate a lot of baked chicken leg quarters growing up - always nicely seasoned with salt, pepper and a bit of rosemary. Toss 'em in a baking dish, season, cover with foil, set for 350 and come back an hour or so later - super easy. We'd get one each, but all the mashed spuds we wanted. Fond memories of that meal and I still make it today even though I am in a pretty decent place financially.

Trans fats are not illegal in the USA. However, and specifically, a leading contributor to them is. Partially Hydrogenated Soybean oil (a.k.a. vegetable shortening) which was a liquid when heated, but a semi-solid at room temperature, and thus: shortening. There were a lot of regional potato chip manufacturers in the Upper Midwest whose products relied on the flavor profile imparted by cooking with this vegetable shortening. And they all had to scramble to find a substitute several years ago when the ban-hammer came down. And I don't know of any of them ever totally recovered from that. But as someone who ate a lot of such chips from central and northern Illinois, like Kitchen Cooked, Jay's Old Fashioned, Mrs Fishers, Ole Salty, Mr G's, I can tell you tearing into a bag of them would impart a lot more trans fat than this Hungry Man offering.

One of the worst FDA loopholes is allowing food manufacturers to list the "Nutrition Facts" on products according to serving size In other words, if the manufacturer is allowed to say "Hey, a person might only eat 1/8th of this meal per day!", then a product which contains 6 grams of trans-fat as a whole can be divided into 8 portions - and since each portion contains less than 1 gram of trans-fat, the manufacturer can lawfully say 0 grams trans-fat Look at Huy Fong Sriracha sauce, for example: The second ingredient on the list is sugar, yet because Huy Fong says 1 serving size is 1tsp, they're allowed to mis-represent the ENTIRE product as having 0 grams of sugar It's completely messed up 🙄

Chefs will tell you that flavor comes from fat and salt, so this dinner should be yummy! Sadly, the rubber chicken kinda spoiled the experience.

Interesting, a new form of meat foam. Also, where is the sauce that was in the ingredients?

I cooked a hungry man meal in a microwave last year, as per the instructions, I started to hear a venting type sound and went to check on it. I stopped the microwave, opened the door, steam was venting out of the brownie, it had turned hard like a rock (that section of the tray deformed a little), it was the weirdest thing, everything else was 'okay'. I tossed the brownie, but I don't nuke them any more.

the Brownie works fine, but you have to remove it after it's cooked, otherwise it'll be charcoal.

Larry, Great video as always, love the commentary. How about a deep dive into why meat tastes off when microwaved. Peace Luke T

Tyson I believe makes batter dipped frozen chicken tenders. In the oven they turn out crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. They also make honey batter dipped chicken fingers.

I'd be more afrain of the salt load than the transfat, thankfully, I stopped eating this kind of garbage years ago. Great video as always Larry.

If you're wondering where the trans fat comes from, looking at the list of ingredients you'll see some very unhealthy ingredients. #HydrogenatedVegetableOil is where the trans fats comes from. But there is a lot of soybean oil, corn oil and hydrogenated vegetable oil in nearly all of these portions. It made me physically ill reading the list. I would eat the mashed potatoes and vegetables and throw away the Brownie and chicken because that's where your mega doses of Ultra processed manufactured oils and trans fats are. #Hydrogenated vegetable oil = trans fat

The same meal has 0.5g of trans fat in Canada. I think it's required to be as low as possible up here

You basically have to end up mixing the potatoes, cut up chicken, and veg into a single cup of coherent meal for the chicken to actually be really great.
