This was a very fun box for New Year's Eve. He case was presented in a creative and entertaining way. I'm glad you gave HAK another chance. They are hit or miss but there are a lot of gems. This was the best one I've seen.

quick comment about something -- I realized that I was a bit contradictory in one aspect of this review -- I emphasized that it was totally offline, but then I also encouraged players to use an online cipher tool to help with decryption. Just keep in mind that as with most hunt-a-killer games there is a cipher, and that if you insist on doing the decryption by hand it could be annoying, and as with all ciphers in all games, my philosophy is that you should solve the basic cipher yourself and then feel free to use an online tool to do the grunt work once you do.

Having said this is not "the first cold case game we should play," which one do you recommend for that purpose? Which one would you recommend for those who want to try this type of game for the first time -- whether from this company or any other?

100% offline sold me. We gave up on Hunt a Killer when it started to be 80-100% online (Mallory Rock, the cruise murder one).
