Odyssey - Ancient History Documentaries

2 жыл бұрын

For the better part of 400 years people have searched the deep canyons & towering ice peaks of these mist-covered cloud forests trying to locate the lost cities of the Inca. They were all after one thing; gold. Any gold would do but there was one thing desired above all others, the Great Golden Disc of the Sun. The most sacred of all Inca relics. The Inca Holy Grail. It is in search of this Holy Grail that David Adams goes on his journey to Puncuyoc, sacred Sister City of Machu Picchu; the city sought but never found by Hiram Bingham.
Odyssey is your journey into the world of Ancient History; from the dawn of Mesopotamia to the fall of Rome. We'll be bringing you only the best documentaries that journey into the mysteries and ruins of worlds long lost.

I have been to these places and, since I have friends in Peru that I visit, I'll be going back. All I can say is plan for the altitude! I had hiked volcanoes in Costa Rica and very high peaks in Europe. But Cusco kicked my ass and I felt drunk the entire time I was there. Drank a lot of coca tea and then hallucinated pretty things every time I closed my eyes. Of course, it was 4 months after major surgery (at age 53). But what the heck, I'll be trying it again, but this time with some Diamox tablets.

@josi4251

@@richardhowe5583 No. You can drink a quart of it and still pass a drug test. It takes a lot of processing to make cocaine. It was a combo of the altitude and the coca tea, and I suspect also the local herb sorojchi, widely sold in pharmacies. None of those should make a person high, but for whatever reason I got pretty visions.

Hi Josi, I have hiked the Inca trail up to the Sungate and down into Machu Picchu. I did pretty well overall but I was younger than you when I went. There is one 12,000' pass that really kicked my butt. It was like 4-6 steps and stop and breathe, 4-6 steps, stop and breathe some more. The Porters are simply amazing athletes!

The Sun Disc was either taken by the Spanish invaders and broken down a melted. Or the the Europeans that rediscovered the room of gold took it and realized the couldn't tell anyone about having it due to its historical significance

Yes probably melted down... Spanish didn`t care about its significance; they never did. They were not archaeologists. They destrouyed anything pagan to them in Peru., even the Inca manuscripts. They also probably stripped all the sites cos the sites were problby covered in gold also...That is why some of the sites dont make any sense cos just bare stones but make sense if covered in gold with gold statues in the niches etc. Only other poassibility that it is at the bottom of the ocean somewhere in a Spanish wreck. There is a Spanisj galleon captured by the French at the bottom of the St. Lawrence River mud. Location unknown. Reported being there in the French archives by Biggar and Goodwin

The Levant through Iraq, Iran, and Egypt - *all free to explore the real history, absent of any Mainstream Archaeologists that hold a Theory as Fact and forcing all into their Paradigm,. The sun disk...the light disk...the energy disk. It's scattered on each continent.... The Mayan disk is united with dream catcher wiring... There are 5 disks in total... Each creating a type of energy and merged to one . It's like a rope made of a variety of energies... To me , the Mayan disk looks like microchips and resistors and other electronics. To me , the dream catcher is a disk of wiring sequence... Needs brushes for magnetics... Needs a. Crank and ratio system . Create it to be self eternally run... @nevyen149
@nevyen149 2 жыл бұрын
@@themobseat That's basically incorrect. North and South America had some cities which were as big or bigger than any European city of the same time period. When a dirty Hernan Cortes and his rabble entered the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan on November 8th, 1519...the city had a population of at least 200,000...5 times the size of London, and they had a water system as good as any the Romans ever built, and twice daily trash collection. The Maya had a mathematical and astronomical knowledge which out classed that of Europe of the same age, and many cultures in the New World had expertise in monumental stone architecture. Metal work in gold alloys, and some copper work show they had categorically moved past the stone age, and the complexity of societies in the New World show they were not living a "primitive existence". The story of sub-Saharan Africa has many similarities to the New World, in that there were complex societies, who made it to the level of producing iron...again, significantly past the "stone age", but were decimated by later contact with European colonialist and the diseases they spread.

Of course, they were on the run from the Spanish, hardly had the time or man power to invest in pretty walls, survival would of been the priority of the day.

@@greenstreet5287 you don’t ask to c what you actually want to c, however permit can be obtained to view very surprising archives. Just saying, would at least have made this a little more interesting, 99% common knowledge if you have ever had an interest tbh.

LIDAR Elizabeth D > Thanks for sharing. Lidar is a method for determining ranges by targeting an object with a laser and measuring the time for the reflected light to return to the receiver. Lidar can also be used to make digital 3-D representations of areas on the earth's surface and ocean bottom, due to differences in laser return times, and by varying laser wavelengths. It has terrestrial, airborne, and mobile applications.

Was that first temple a shot of Coricancha? The literal 'Temple of Gold' that was built for Inti the sun god? Looted and destroyed by the Spanish, who stripped the smooth stone walls that once were golden. Now a Catholic Monastery sits atop, essentially desecrating the once holy site. Oh of course you explain it later hehe. In Canada some people are burning down Catholic churches on Indigenous land... it is quite sad. Indigenous rights are returning with awareness however, and so educating videos such as this are very important. Very cool. As a writer, I find that I need to go to these places in order to finish my own stories. I've never been to Peru, so that's next on the list.

I am a Canadian Indigenous woman from the Squamish Nation tribe in North Vancouver, my father was a Residential School victim/survivor. There’s NOTHING sad about burning down the prisons you call a church. God did not reside within those walls, nor within any of the men and women who claimed to come in the name of the lord. They were rapists. They were child abusers. They tortured innocent children. They brutalized them. They robbed their innocence. They were evil demons and those schools were their temples. Burn them all to the ground!
