You guys missed the fusee / flare test. They apparently kill the frame rate. The hunt subreddit has videos of the game running in the 20s and 10s when someone starts dropping a bunch of flares which are dynamic light sources.
@leviathan5207Ай бұрын
One tiny detail: They kill the frame rate, when you use a slow CPU. The lighting used in Hunt is VERY CPU intensive. I used to have an 8700k, which got me about 120fps average with medium to high settings running DLSS quality at 1440p with an RTX 3080. Whenever I entered a room and the lighting changed, especially with indirect lighting entering the scene, as well as when flares were shot, my FPS dropped to values as low as 20. When I bought a 7800X3D on sale, before the prices shot up, I was delighted to find out that at a mix of High and Ultra, with everything else the same, my game ran at a locked 144fps everywhere. Them pushing an 8700 (non k) as recommended is very disingenuous, I think. The game is CLEARLY very CPU intensive and everyone who claims that it is somehow a memory leak, clearly does not know how to monitor their system properly.

There is pronounced screen tearing in the menu at the bottom of the screen but that's the only place I really noticed it consistently, I don't have a VRR display. Have to ask, but was nobody on the dev team willing to use DRS? Wouldn't fix every problem but certainly would've helped.

This is nothing compared to the PC version, there are some serious VRAM / memory leak issues, there are compounds in the game I simply cannot go to because of how bad it is. I'm talking 120-130fps dropping to 30-40fps with DLSS on a 3080

Nice, good to see you guys were ready by embargo for both The Plucky Squire and DRDR instead of doing something stupid like putting together a second video on Hunt Showdown's current gen ports. Oh wait ffs nevermind.

Seems like if XBX used the same base resolution as PS5 it'd prob run around the same fps, or if PS5 adds in the lighting that'd lower its fps a little too.

Seems like the price series x is paying for that 1440p resolution isn't worth it. Hopefully they'll lower it closer to ps5 and fix the volumetrics on ps5.

That PS5 test is not representative of the worst performance which happens during firefights around certain areas, particularly split river and on the hill above it, also intense screen tearing.

It's not the first time developers decides to push the Series X too hard. I wonder if Microsoft tells the developers to run their game at a higher resolution on the X just to get an advantage over the PS5?

As long as it is mostly at 60 frames and no drops below 45 I believe it to be a great achievement with this fidelity, and most modern TV's are getting VRR anyway which makes it a non issue gameplay wise imho.

@Unprotected1232Ай бұрын
Can SVOGI be rewritten to make use of hardware acceleration? If not has Crytek considered any alternative interim solutions that'll accommodate consoles that's not software based like SVOGI or SDF? As it stands I don't think consoles are ready for ray tracing, at least not at 60 fps. At least not for more complex games. Especially not without any dedicated hardware capabilities for upscaling and denoising. Therefore the industry would greatly benefit from lightweight RT solutions that can leverage the hardware capabilities of current gen consoles. To get the most out of the hardware we need to see some innovation. Preferably not something that won't force consoles to revert to 30fps caps and/or extreme upscaling and all the artifacting that follows.
@raresmacovei8382Ай бұрын
"to make use of hardware acceleration". It's an effect that uses GPU power. It's fine.

Little bit better textures and water effetcs are just not impressing anymore, We need a progress in better physics and ingame animations + damage environment that stay (cracks on the ground, traces of hair, blood, body parts, trees and overall objects that getting damage and etc) and not magically disappeared in aaa games.
@smittyvanjagermanjenson182Ай бұрын
Well thats what happens when majority cried and complained to get 4k gaming on console... 4k eats up all those hardware resources they could've used to make more complex physics.. back in the mid 2000s-2010 we had multiple games with wild physics, because graphics were still stuck at 480p-720p..

the completely absent volumetrics and the fact that the game is way too dark @custom settings on the ps5, really makes me doubt that they even played the game before they released it. these are such weird and obvious oversights, you'd notice them after a minute of playtime.
