To make it easier to remove the valve in the future, put unions on both sides of the valve. If there is only one when you thread the valve off you hit the pipe and either have to cut or dig up a bunch to flex the pipe out of you way.

that seems like a good idea, but i personally don't like having threaded PVC unions on the 24/7 pressure side of the valves, and find that having the union on the output side is all that is needed. Also, I like the slip PVC ball valve per valve idea for larger installs.

We use PE pipe, which is flexible and doesn’t need to be glued. We also use dura fittings which are on o rings and screw together

Good video, runs should be blown out with water before heads installed to get rid of any sand or debris

Great video, thank you. I'm just wondering if this landscape fabric is waterproof. I google it and found some info that it's not waterproof so I'm not sure if that is okay for valves. I don't have much experiance but want to do a system for a small orchard.

Thanks for your comment! The fabric used in this video is Landscape Fabric. It is sold at all landscape distributors, Home Depot, and Lowes. This is not used to prevent water intrusion. It is used to prevent critter, root, and debris intrusion.

does it matter which wire from the solenoid you use to the white wire?
@Hunter_Industries4 күн бұрын
This video refers to AC or household powered controllers and the wire polarity is not an issue.

What do you do with the unused wires? How so you protect them from water etc?

Situation: I have a manifold setup for 3 zones. Meaning, 3 valves. All 3 are connected to the "common" wire of course. I just replaced two outer valves and left old one in the middle. Question: If that middle valve with old solenoid is bad...would it also prohibit the 2 new ones from turning on from main control box (not to be confused with manually turning on)? Was thinking maybe so considering all 3 are connected via common wire. Thx!
@Hunter_Industries4 ай бұрын
In a typical installation, there would be no impact on the rest of the system if just one solenoid wasn't operating properly.

can you comment if need to use anything to prevent backflow to mainline from irrigation system?

So what would you recommend for trying together cleanly the ground wires from 10 valves. All them wires wrapped together tied to the controller is a mess. I'd like help making that connection look good and be sealed.

I notice some irrigation valves are sticking out of the ground by about a foot above ground, while other jobs I see they have buried the valves in the ground in a plastic box. How do I decide which one I should I use. 1 valve is for a small sprinkler zone and the other 5 valves feed drip zones. your advice would be helpful. Larry
@Hunter_Industries2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for contacting Technical Support The application will determine which valves you select. The installation is up to you as a valve box is recommended for future access and service easily. www.hunterindustries.com/product-line/valves Thank you again for contacting Hunter Technical Support. Why don’t you use just a 4 zone manifold instead with unions ! Would eliminate all the hassle your going thru making one ? 😡
@Agamemnon92 жыл бұрын
Each zone needs a valve of its own due to water pressure limitation. Unions make future valve work a lot more pleasant.
