Great video especially the views by the lean-to and the colors of the sky toward the end. My first trip up Slide Mountain was exactly like this going from no snow to about five inches. Above 3,500 feet the pines are overwhelming with rich green color and scent. I have skied Hunter many times but never went to the fire tower so that was enjoyable too. I grew up in the New York City area but moved to southeast Asia 30 years ago where daylight is from 6 AM to 6PM every day of the year and always like middle of summer. This video took me back a bit...Thank you!

Great part one. The spring with the wooden barrel looked awesome frozen over like that.

Another great video. After watching this I'm thinking of doing an overnight on Hunter this summer. The view from the shelter was sweet.

Good hike and even better call to get off the mountain. Speaking of 'demoralizing', I fell skiing on Hunter Mountain and was jeered and mocked at by New Yorkers in the ski lift. Being from NYC, I knew who they were. I've skied (and wiped out) all over the states and that only happened at that resort. Looking forward to seeing the next installment.

I remember skiing Hunter Mountain when I was younger, so I couldn't resist checking it out now from the trail. Somehow it was very satisfying to know that I had walked to the top instead of riding the ski lift. I wonder if those skiers thought it was strange to see a backpacker at the top. LOL

This is not a criticism, repeat not a negative comment. I enjoy all your content, you make great videos.. When you went to the hunter ski lifts you passed by the funnest hidden feature on the mountain ( it’s like 20 feet from the trail ) There’s a crazy fun oversized RIP VAN WINKLE stone statue ( near the zip lines) I’m surprised you didn’t loop out adding S/W Hunter, it would have been the same mileage as your out and back. Someday I would love to figure out how you do that google earth effect. That puts the hikes in great perspective!!!!! Awesome videos !!! Jay Creature

Not to worry Jay, I don't get offended easily. I'm still learning the trails in the Catskills, and I know there experienced hikers out there shouting at their screens when I make a beginner mistake. LOL That's totally ok. I'll probably come back at some point and make a full overnight loop out of this, including SW Hunter and Westkill, so this was really just for exploring the area and checking things out like shelters and camping options, etc. Glad you enjoyed the video!
