Everyone talks about Naruto filler as if it isn’t directly related to the story and is often the most consistent lore. Oh but “iT wAsN’t In ThE mAnGa.” We’ll try Bleach 4 entire seasons which don’t even fit remotely into the story because they’re just 13-26 episode spin offs. Just so something could be released in the story. So please, if you’re complaining about Naruto “filler” you’ve probably not seen truly bad filler. It doesn’t even make sense to say Naruto has filler since it all explains plot holes cause by the time skip anyway. The second chunnin exams are a great example of filler lore which is entirely necessary. Especially since the first series made the chunin exams into a huge deal that most people fail. Then suddenly “time skip happened and they all made chunin... oh except Naruto cause it’s funnier if he doesn’t, also Neji is a jonin because we don’t have time to fit in another exam arc before he dies.”
