When we played as children, the players that are out was still a part of the game like presented here. I guess there's different rules since it seems so foreign to you. The game would honestly be a lot worse without that addition, since it keeps everyone involved in the game.

Parker getting real hung up on the 'out' mechanics, i kinda like this interpretation of the game honestly. When you get out, you have to go outside the court but you can still participate which means you can position yourself at the boundaries to try and flank people on the other team. But you still lose if all of your players inside the court get out. It both lets people not have to sit out for most of the game, while making it more challenging for the team that's winning since they now have to worry about being targeted in the back by the outside players.

From reading comments, it sounds more and more like a case of American Football. FWIW they do play it with these rules in the USofA, they just call it Prisonball instead (see English Wikipedia).

It's a variant of Prisonball (see Wikipedia) called Völkerball (German for Nationball). 13:33 Sam is right. That's a plot hole Togashi included to make it more dramatic. 15:23 Can't agree more with Nicole. Especially infuriating how the anime remake stretches the material out like it's Dragon Ball instead of Dodgeball, repeating the beginning and middle.. 17:18 A plot hole introduced by the changes made in the remake. In the manga it was only Razor who could do curve balls and Bisky was actually bad at throwing, so it just rolls to Razor.

Maybe dodgeball is being played differently in the US, but those rules are very close to how our version in Central Europe is played. Minus the "back" thing of course. But the rest, including the field and the rules, is pretty much spot on. There were no shenanigans in this one, Razor did give them a fair game, and everything was within the rules. No biased ref, no favoritism.

Good episode. I think Hisoka is not trying that hard, we know how cray cray he can get if he really wants victory. But I'm worried about Killua ready to put himself in harm's way for Gon. Good bond, but at what cost?

Catching the ball does not get the thrower out, it simply protects the catcher from being out and anyone else on the catchers team who was hit by the throw. If you throw the ball and it hits an opponent and rebounds to your teammate and they catch it, the opponent is still out. This is the "cushion rule" they mentioned.you can protect someone who cushioned the ball by catching it or ensure they are out. In this version of dodgeball, every player is always active in the game. Being in play or out of play only determines where you can stand and how the game is scored. These rules make it more challenging to dodge the more opponents you get out since they can now attack from any side, not just the front. This style of dodgeball rarely includes methods to return in play since everyone can still participate even after being out
