I recently had my car professionally detailed. Wasn't happy with the price but saw another car he did so I agreed to the price. The car was so shiny afterwards it hurt my eyes. Worth every penny. Did research on detailing and learned how much effort and attention to detail is done by these professionals. It's truly an art form.

It is what it is. It's cleaning cars, it's tough Is my many people can learn and do it But just don't want to take the time .... people don't appreciate Full detail All The Times. You take the bad and the good. But Cheers. Working hard and pushing forward to make that buck, to make that better life, support families etc..and not live off others , especially the government etc.. Cheers It's not easy. Not Everyone was made or positioned to go to college to get a certain job that can require less physical work in many cases. So Cheers To those that work hard within their means. Unfortunate to go to college, community, working up paying practically all myself, working in the medical profession for over 25 years using more brain power than brawn in nursing. Car detailing on the side, For fun, to make people happy. It is hard work I make roughly the same hourly wage but more taxing on the body, chemical exposure etc. So cheers to detailers making it work.

@@miragexl007 I absolutely LOVE owning my own mobile detailing business. I get to create my own schedule, decide my vacation time, spend time with the family whenever I decide, help out friends and family with jobs to earn money and put food on their tables, and best of all have a successful business for my two sons to take over when they grow up. Also not having a boss is a marvelous thing. I send you my condolences for going to do the 9 to 5 thing working for the man... I prefer a moderately active job anyways because when I'm not detailing I'm running or working out so I try to incorporate some cardio exercises into my details by moving as quickly as possible around the vehicle and jogging back and forth to get supplies ect. Idk, it's fun to me. Different strokes for different folks though I guess. As long as we enjoy what we do that's all that matters.

Hey, those are the customers you need every so often! Those customers that give you grief like that....are the ones that make you a better owner/operator. If it wasnt for your enemies in life, you wouldn't be able to test your abilities of what you can do in this world.
@LeeOnishiixD
@LeeOnishiixD 2 жыл бұрын
That's a rather unique way of looking at it. Most others just pass on those customers, relatively because they're money pits. The actual business adage is, as he said. "I ask what I ask for. They can either pay it or they can't." It's a business respect, that a customer disrespects by automatically demanding every service, undervaluing the professional with their "unprofessional" estimate. Why, I feel like one would become an even better operator if, they could charge you what they felt they were worth, and one wasn't griefed. Why, one might even feel better about the job they did.

You need to learn to say no to anyone that begins bargaining with you. NO is NO! And you don't need to be everyone's detailer either. You also need to raise your prices, so ppl like this won't even think twice about reaching out to you, because even a 10% discount off your regular prices is still going to be to much for them.

I’m from the UK and I had one customer haggle the price over the phone and then they complained and nit picked. The car was in a bad state too. They got a great deal and even after that, they asked for some money to be refunded. Lesson I learnt is that don’t ever deal with people that will try to haggle the price. They either pay what you’re asking for or they can look elsewhere. Simples! I’ve lived by that principle ever since and thankfully haven’t had any issues since that issue.

Don't be afraid to tell pple no they are used to whining and complaining to get their way in life and sadly it's pathetic. You are a very respectable fella, and you hold your head up high. There used to be a saying, customers are always right this is a myth nowadays customers have NO clue what is right when it comes to trade work, Unless you live off a trade skill in life you as a customer couldn't possibly understand the cost and the work needed to complete it so don't pretend to think you understand something you have never done. As a mobile detailer doing this for over 10 years, I'm sorry...I had to laugh bc I know exactly who you're talking about bc they do it over here in Florida also. Always trying to receive the highest quality of service for crackhead prices. Always telling you how to do your job and compare you to other detailers that's willing to do a lot more for less. I used to deal with it and be pissed at myself basically working for free. Not anymore! If I lower my price, I'll have to take shortcuts and not do certain things I would normally do for it to make sense. If they say that's still too high, have a nice day. Like my cousin (mobile detailer) told me, know your worth. It's okay to say no. People won't respect your time like you do. Keep up the great work! I'm proud of you.

I just watched the Detail Geek do a never-cleaned ranch vehicle. It took 16 hours of talent and tools and chemicals to clean that thing. Never let someone talk you down from all the work involved. In construction, every time a person wanted another "extra" they sign a piece of paper for the increased cost of the add-on.

That’s a tough situation when the client sits around poking at things that is not part of the package. I’ve learned to do Show them the package, price per size and condition Agree Please do not interrupt while the vehicle is in service until we are done, then you can help us address things that’s within the package and let’s also address the room for improvement, if there’s any questions I have; I will be sure to get your attention so we can move forward. You have to be thoro with some of them, in the most respectful and professional way. On a side note If this was your first heckler lol You did way way better than me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Trust me been there done that. I am now sticking to my price. I definitely give them a price range, if they agree we book an appointment. Not too long ago I did a minivan and 17 hrs of detail customer refused to pay the full amount. I was pissed off. Most of the times I'm really blessed with customer who tell me I don't charge enough and that makes up for that one bad customer. But you learn from mistakes and hopefully you get more understanding customer.

HUNTER BRO...check this out....always use a printable checklist...have yes/no options next to every line on the checklist....just the main parts. Example: claybar, interior, wheels, engine bay, vacuum, headliner, shampoo, polish, coating, ect. Then have an empty box on the bottom of the page or next page with addition customer request or special instructions per the customer. Example: stains, scratches, any little extras that arent part of the main parts of detailing. Once you write the customers special request, write down the extra fees next to it. Tally everything up and thats the total price, have the customer agree in Writing and sign thier name, matching thier drivers license, and you write down thier drivers license # and have them put thier initials next to it. Do a walk around with the customer 1 time and have the customer sign the invoice, once everything is agreed upon. If the customer keeps adding more special request during the detail, just deny it until your done with the 1st checklist he/she already signed. Then after they pay, you can go over again and make another checklist with additional charges. Take half the money upfront if you have too, if they dont pay, take them to small claims, you will win everytime, especially with everything documented before and after. This way theres no room for arguments , explanations or special favors. Start putting everything in writing, EVERYTHING! So theres zero room for error. God Bless...

I know for power washing jobs (on YT) they set up payment plans (which in this for a detail I dunno) It allows the customer to make it right. If they still don't pay putting a lien on their house. I think it was called a mechanical one? I DO agree everything in stone. Contract. 1 paragraph or back of the page. Something to protect your ass and your kids/family food.

I mean.. Its business like you said it is. I was a middle man for a while.. Although i was clear about it.. I told this one detailer shop.. " Okey, i will get you customers, you will do a good job and stand for whatever faults that might come. And il take the differance between what they pay me and i pay you" Thing is..Then it was okey for the detailer.. He was happy he had clients and didnt need to work or do anything to get it.. And i did my part which was getting people. :) Was a win win for everyone except the customer really.

Never discount your prices. They are set because you did your due diligence of your overhead and the lifestyle you want to have, along with funding your investments for your retirement. You give people 10% off they'll want 15 or 20% off you give 20% they'll want 50%. Never entertain a discount especially for no reason.
@drivingpsyche

you can give a discount... only to repetitive customers who never ask for discounts. It's a form of "thank you" for bringing business in. Anyone else, as soon as they ask for lower pricing, should be told "goodbye".

Hey guys I think you guys are doing a great job detailing keep up the good work. Now on the business part of things the first mistake is by trying to negotiate or haggle with your customer. you let them know what the prices are if they're not happy with that price go ahead and say I completely understand if you would like this is what I can do for you and then just downgrade them to your next level of wash and explain to him what will be included and what won't be included you always want to show features and benefits make the customers see what you're seeing and make the customer realize the time and the prep that will go into it and also don't be afraid to tell the customer the cost of the tools that you using that will make him understand the type of job and the type of work that it takes to perform what he's asking for. Conclusion I'm glad you caught your own mistake sometimes it's good to have someone document your transactions through the day so that you can see where you went wrong great job catching yourself and understanding what you did wrong so you won't have to go through all that again.

Been there before. I did a little tilling business at one time, just side work kind of thing , flower beds and gardens you know. I had one lady who wanted a bed put in at the edge of her patio but when that was finished she asked if we could do jus the sides too, which I did. I ended up doing twice the work and then she had the nerve to ask if I would excavate one entire side of her foundation for the same price, with a rototiller. It was at that point that I had had enough. I bid a price that I knew she would not bite on just so she would leave me alone.

It’s funny you have a video about this. Im a up and coming Mobile Detailer out of New York. I have a customer who sales cars that has a car lot. We agreed on a price that was fair n both parties happy. As im washing 1 of the vehicles he comes over and says your gonna do a headlight restoration on the car as well for same price because my other guy does it for that. So I explained to him that service is 100 it self but I’ll do everything for 160 which I shouldn’t have cut my price and stayed firm with my price but since im just starting I tried to keep the customer happy but since I’ve been watching you I’ve learned the price is the price and don’t settle for less. And i had a few people ask me for a price and never got back to me once i let them know and I can’t afford to lose those sales as a new detailer.

I’m an electrician , quoted someone $450 they wanted it for $300, swearing up and down that they have a lot more work for me in the future that they deserve a discount , I politely explained how I could give a discount further down the road for the future work and I never heard back from them. My brother has clients sign a paper of the work that's going to happen and the price to lock it in. If they don't sign, he doesn't do the work. If they don't understand what they are signing, he tells them to take it and have someone translate it for them and come back another day. My brother has had a lot of problems and since he does the sign the contract of the work thing, no more problems.

Years ago I lost many 1 time customers after making the "multiple cars in the future for the discount today" deal. Many never call back or if they do they want the discount price but extra service now. I just have to get tough and tell them NO, and sometimes tell them they have to pay full price now. They hang up and that's 1 more crook I don't have to deal with.
