I got 10 of these tascos, they take good pics and last a long time on the batteries! I noticed that when you set it to take 3 pics the last 2 pics per trigger are darker than the first pic so I just set mine to take 1 pic every 15 or 30 seconds! For the money and for the amount of thieves around here this cameras the way to go!

I’ve run many different brand and model trail cams over the years ranging from $28-$200. My go to cameras that actually hold up and last are the tasco cameras. Well I am certainly VERY happy the Tasco 8mp TC did so well as I found them on sale a few years ago for $20 each took a risk and bought a truck load then saw the 12mp version for $30 and bought a bunch more So far they have all worked better than I expect and IMO better than one can expect from a very cheap trail cam Other TC I have 6 of were Moultrie 6 or 8 mp TC I bought on sale in two packs 4-5 years ago work really well but were more expensive than the 12mp Tasco's

I too noticed the wider aspect ratio on the Tasco. It is a 16:9 aspect. It also apears in your videos to display the time and date. That is a big plus. The Wosports is a 4:3 and seams to me to be distorted. I think it is a wider angle at 58 degrees. (Tasco is 45) Cameras are most sensitive to 850nm infra-red, delivering superior surveillance footage at night. But you are right, they are not totally invisible(low glow). Probably the best choice for a cheap camera. It looks like both are no longer available, but this was very informative video. I am just learnig. Thank you.

You've been my go-to tuber for trail camera reviews. Some questions I always have, but rarely get answers is - especially specific to individual models is: How high did you mount your camera to get the images you share? What is the REAL maximum distance at which a particular camera sensor will trigger from motion from your experience with said camera (advertised sensor distances aren't always true).? I won't be using my cameras for scouting but rather to catch my neighbor when he is vandalizing my fence lines and harassing my animals. I don't have many trees to use so unfortunately will have to resort to posts and poles. Suggested height and distance maximums would be a game changer. Regardless, really appreciate your thorough review videos and gallery of wildlife!
@HuntingFarmerOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the encouragement. I mount my cameras at different heights depending on the setup. As a rule of thumb for small to medium animals I recommend 36” high. For humans you’ll probably want to go higher than that (probably 48”). Trigger distance varies from camera to camera but many will work for what you’re describing (very small animals might not trigger a camera near as good as a person walking will). The biggest thing to consider is the night IR capabilities. While many cameras will trigger, you’ll want one that can really illuminate the area with infrared so you’ll be able to see what’s happening. Look at reviews that feature sample photos/videos and pick out one that has great lighting 👍
@johnmead8437 Жыл бұрын
It's possible different identical cameras perform differently, so treat each as an individual. The top 6" has it field testing while the freindly neighbour is away would reduce the guessing. If surveillance is the objective, figuring out a mount site & configuration unlikely to be detected is something to work out. The background and orientation limitations need consideration. The limitations become apparent. If sufficient light exists surveillance camera might be more appropriate. Most trail cameras miss some triggers, continuous surveillance cams don't.

Great review! Don't know about that Hi-HO camera! lol! Very interesting that the rope-a-dope buck didn't trigger the camera. Makes you wonder how well they would get a person wrapped up in multiple layers on a cold day! ( trespasser?) Maybe another test for ya.

I wonder what heat has to do with the trigger mechanism of the cameras? They are movement activated. IR light is only used to highlight subjects in the dark. It might be that sensitivity settings need to be adjusted. You don't want your camera to be trigged due to wind moving grass or branches. But that HUGE deer that you had totally should be able to trigger them. I guess you get what you payed for. I think that your methodology is fine for the daytime comparison. But during the night if you have 2 cameras activated at the same time, I wonder if they will interfere with each other.

Good side-by-side comparison, Dave. I guess the one good thing about the HIAO is that you could make some pretty wild videos with it. Let me think... "Polar Bear Spotted on PA Farm" Something like that should get lots of clicks, and although the viewers won't be able to see diddly squat due to the image quality, they won't be able to definitively say there WASN'T a polar bear. 💁♂️ Just trying to come up with something positive about that camera.

How can a camera (HIAO) that doesn't work win any category? Paying $25 for something that doesn't work isn't a win!!!!! Everything about the HIAO camera sounds & looks repulsive. Since it had audio, maybe the animals you can't see could announce who they are. I've owned 3 of 8MP & 1 of 10MP Tasco trail camerras. If they didn't stop working over time, I would have more of them. None of them currently work. Still searching for a dependable, affordable camera if anyone knows of one.
