I swear, it's like these small towns make deals with the airlines to lose people's luggage so that they end up having to spend a bunch of money in town...
@Fresh_Tracks8 жыл бұрын
The local guys were really cool about it. It happened in my home town airport of Bozeman. I found out that TSA uses a contract service here and when I called them, they told me I should have taken it as carryon luggage. I told the lady how stupid that response was, given it weighs 90# and is abut 4x the allowed size of a carryon item. She didn't understand and ended up giving me a website to visit, which was nothing more than an episode of frustration. I see Bozeman has now changed contract companies to do the TSA work here. I hope they are better than the prior service. Thanks for watching.

When I was younger, my second deer I ever took (Blesbok) I took a terrible shot due to my own fault, I had so much adrenaline that I could barely keep myself steady. I had to track him until night, eventually I found him and he was lying in the brush with blood all around his stomach. I put him down shorty after. All hunters have such moments, I had one, you had one like mentioned at the end of your video. But we simply need to learn from those mistakes and make more ethical kills in the future. Happy hunting.

I actually shot a bear in northern Arizona south of the town of Heber, and it unfortunately was not a fatal shot, so me (16 years old at the time) and my father, at last light, followed a blood trail for roughly five and a half miles, through one of the steepest and nastiest canyons I've ever hiked through, in the dark for multiple hours to loose the blood trail and never find the bear. It broke my heart to know that I had injured and animal, and there was nothing I could do to put it out of it's misery. So I can relate to how you felt when your previous bear got away. It's one of the worst feelings to go through. All you can do is pray to god, and ask and hope that is doesn't go through too much pain and it dies sooner then later. I love your videos and I relate to them on so many levels, especially on the level of how hard you hunt, my dad has taught me the same way, never sit ground blinds or tree stands, it's all about getting out in the field and going where no one wants to go, that's where the big animals are. My dad owns his own guide service here in Arizona called "Out2hunt" I have been hunting here in Arizona since I was 9 years old, my most nostalgic unit to unit to hunt is 36b, near a little town called Arivaca, just a few miles from the Mexican border. My favorite unit to hunt though is unit 23, near a small town called Young. It's an outstanding unit for big bulls, mountain lions, And big bucks. Keep making these awesome videos man and congrats on the bear!
@Fresh_Tracks6 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about that bear experience. It happened to me once and I know how it feels. It still bothers me when I think about it. I've been to most those AZ places you mention. I love them all. I'll be in Arivaca again in January. Best of luck this season.

This is real hunting, Randy; I think someone is trying to help you, by having your gear not show up, your motor break down etc. He or She is saying Randy... keep your show real and even the anti hunters will get a better idea of what hunting is and should be. Nice work. I hear ya on the frustration. One year, I had an entire hunt's worth of meat nearly spoiled, due to an Alaska Air Cargo employee in Kotzebue, who left my FROZEN (and labelled) meat sitting outside. When I received it in Seattle, blood was running on the ground from inside the boxes. Fortunately, I did not lose any of the meat, and it all tasted great.

You can use what ever magnum you want. They all will kill. But they are not always necessary. You don't need a 300, 338, 375 to kill a black bear. Yes, they will work, but there not always needed to get the job done.

Randy, I'm a new wannabe hunter. Live in Oregon and want to hunt some Roosevelt elk this fall. Not into the whole trophy thing, I just want wild, organic, healthy meat that I harvested myself. Nothing. This was some humor. And, I prefer to have things that are made in the United States, if possible. I am not a big fan of trade policies that make it easy to ship US manufacturing jobs overseas, whether to Mexico, or elsewhere. When possible, I would prefer to pay a bit more and know that it helped keep some jobs in America. And, it is my personal experience that most US made goods are of a higher quality than those made in countries where the labor force is exploited.

A lot of American companies assemble their product in Mexico. To a lower standard than in the US. The problem is not the Mexicans. It's the greedy American CEO's who go where their profit margin is the highest. They cheat their workers and consumers and pocket the difference. Anyhow, nice hunt. How to make lemonade out of lemons. What does bear meat taste like anyway ?

Hello Mr Randy, I enjoy watching your shows. I'm planning on moving to Colorado at the end of the month and was wondering what gun you recommend for elk and mule deer . Thanks so much
@Fresh_Tracks7 жыл бұрын
I use a .308 Win. I've killed elk and mule deer with that, with a .270 Win, with a .300 Win Mag. Find what you shoot best, get good bullets, and go with it. Good luck.

You can't shoot the bear because you flew that day ? whats that all about ? only asking as I don't know.
@Fresh_Tracks8 жыл бұрын
We flew in two days earlier. That's what it "is all about."
@yvonneost128 жыл бұрын
Ok so is there a law you can't mshoot anything within a couple of days of flying in ? I dont get what you mean , thats the only reason for my comment .
@tylermertz70958 жыл бұрын
The law is meant to discourage hunters from using aircraft to scout or push game. So you cannot hunt the same day you fly.

Now that you killed the bear, what are you gonna do with it ? Will you eat the meat ? Will you use the fur to make a coat ? What was the purpose of killing it ?
@Fresh_Tracks6 жыл бұрын
I ate the bear. What did you think I would do with it? I kept the skull and the hide. The purpose of killing any large animal, even smaller animals, is to eat them. You realize that many animals die to keep you fed, clothed, sheltered, warm, etc, yes? Give the tone of your questions, I suspect you hire others to do that killing for you. I get that sometimes it is not possible for some to participate in acquiring their own food. I choose a life where I take responsibility when I can do that. I contribute large portions of my time and money to improve the cause of wild things and wild places, as that is where much of my food comes from.
