How much was it?
@Selrisitai12 күн бұрын
@@machinayrequiem8596 Peter said it would be $25.60, and if you look on his website it shows "Sold" and beneath it indeed has the price at $25.60. His pricing is odd. Some of them are very nice but he's only charging $25, and others seem perfectly fine but are being sold for upwards of $400. He even has one very, very simple drawing that couldn't have taken more than an hour (and I'm being very charitable here) and he's got it priced at $1,000,000 (one-million). I can't tell how much he's yanking our crank, and how much he might be thinking, "It's part of the part for it to be exorbitantly priced." All the best ones are either taken or cost four- to eight-hundred dollars. I kind of want one of them, but the only one I want is a kind of "color-jam" painting that might only look good by coincidence. Still, the colors are captivating. Edit: Yeah, _Carpe Deus_ it's called, and it's up there for $800. 😭

I loved the Expanse for the realistic take on space travel/combat (suiting up and flushing out the atmosphere in the ship so hull pierces dont cause a catastrophic decompression) and the aspect of mars wanting to break free from earth after the colonists rise up and the colonies in the asteroid belt. I got a kick out of the mormons actually having their own ship. Draper in her martian power armor was pretty badass too.

On the subject of voice control in the show, it actually makes sense inside the ships when you think about the fact that during the high-g burns they do sometimes, their bodies become so heavy that they can't move their arms properly ! So voice control instead of typing becomes a necessity in those ships, and then maybe it just disseminated once people got used to it

I absolutely LOVE “The Expanse”!! I’ve watched it at least 3 times. It had gotten dropped by SyFy originally…leaving the storylines with no ending, which was very upsetting, until AmazonVideo picked it up (yay!) But I agree with what you said about it. It did feel like the story lost it’s way at times. One season was almost entirely set with the characters trapped in a cave… Telltale games even released a video game for it this year. I’ve never read the books. I’m very much a visual person who enjoys seeing versus reading. It was actually great hearing your opinions about the series, as I didn’t have anyone to talk to about the show while I was binge watching it over the years 😊 which was kind of sad. Also those pens look really nice!
@liamjones42182 ай бұрын
Peter as someone who has read all the expanse books, they are quite the commitment but are definitely worth it. You don't really have to read the novella, I've only read a couple, it's just more world building and maybe a bit of charecter building if you want it. The show does a great job but the book's writing is some of the best I've ever read. I can get tired of long fantasy and sci fi easily but the author's writing really keeps a lot of the extraneous narration that's typical in those series to a bare minimum and has a way of making charecters feel so human. Also the last three books are my favorite after the first one and the show ends before it even gets to them. The audio book narrator is also excellent if you like listening. Just wanted to throw my recommendation out, they really are fantasticly written. Also nice drawing. Been watching you for years and your art has always had its own style but manages to get cooler every video.

I love The Expanse, it may be my favourite show. Season one and two are particularly good. I've rewatched it a few times and there is some really clever foreshadowing when you know what is coming. I loved the scifi-noir element. The world-building is awesome and I like the battle scenes too. Have you played Starfield? It had some similarities I thought. I haven't read The Expanse books but I've absorbed most of the wiki. I'd love to see your take on set design for scifi stories. I was looking at some vintage books yesterday - technical electrical books from early 1900s. The diagrams reminded me of your art. There were some cool colour plates with liftable elements to see layers of circuits and mechanisms.

Hullo Peter, Well first I want to say, PLEASE put more of your art into your online shop! I have a couple of your books from Amazon and I can enjoy them anytime I wish! Yet, I am not going to cut one out just to keep it out in the open so I can see it everyday as I go about my life. I would love to have an original artwork by you for my home. I am sure you have reams of single sheet drawings tucked away from view and they might enjoy a place to be seen everyday by an appreciative person. I have had a similar experience with book series on more than one occasion! My first quandary was The Dragonriders of Pern! The original author decided to create prequel books even short stories the are taking place in between her novels! The she allowed her son to write stories about characters in her world, even letting him use notes she made for stories she no longer had a burning desire to complete. Ahh this is not an isolated problem with just TV shows and adapting books into different mediums like movies and TV shows! I have visited your website and you have mostly sold out of your “affordable products” drawings or paintings it would be sweet if your fans might be able to afford to own a piece of art by Peter Draws(Deligdisch). Well here’s hoping! I do want to say right here you can charge whatever price you want to charge. I know that we often do not value our artistic expressions enough! This being said I am truly desirous to own an original artwork by you, I just don’t have the funds for most of the items that you have listed for sale on your website. There is NO REASON why you should lower prices for anyone. I am just complaining that I don’t have enough money to buy them. I guess that I did not charge enough for my artwork when I was actively selling or working for a “living” I do believe that you can get your asking prices if your willing to wait for a collector who has the money and wants them. I believe that there is a market for your drawings that are simply languishing away in the dark of your attic or the bottom of a drawer. I am wishing you only the very best Peter. Please take care and enjoy yourself!

Thank you! I know a lot of the drawings I posted are expensive, but I will try to keep adding more, including some cheaper ones.

On the subject of "The Expanse"'s interiors, I wonder, as someone not familiar with the show: does it detract from the show's believability? Like, you see the cheap set and go "That doesn't work with the show at all." or you can get past that and even see nostalgic value in it?
@Nate_meister3 ай бұрын
For example, one of my childhood shows was a scifi french canadian series called "Dans une galaxie près de chez vous" (french for "In a Galaxy near you") which had this cheap looking esthetic which was a defining stylistic choice for the show (and due to low budget), but also thematicly fits (the ship was built by the company of the father of one of the main characters and it was notorious for cutting every corner to the limit of legality).

These shows about the future are making me kinda dread it with stuff like the see-through phones and computers, I just don't see how it's appealing in anyway yet it seems to be in so much past and current sci-fi (your explanation about the filming makes a lot of sense though.) I just feel like we've gone from shows where the technology is a fun idea that would be welcome irl (e.g. Back to the Future), to current shows where I dread being in a world with see-through computers and voice controlled cars. Maybe it's because we're at a time when we're realising that technology that sounds cool doesn't necessarily mean it's good or useful (AI art, unreliable smart speakers, the MetaVerse etc etc.)
