Magnum P.I. special guest star Frank Sinatra plays a vengeful detective who is hunting down his daughter's killer. Can Magnum (Tom Selleck) stop him in time?
From Magnum P.I. Season 7 Episode 18 'Laura' - Magnum crosses paths with Michael Doheny, a retired New York policeman, trailing a girl's murderers. However, he doesn't disclose an important detail to Magnum.
From Magnum P.I. (1980 - 1988) This series makes the most of its Hawaiian setting by sending private eye Thomas Magnum all over Oahu righting wrongs -- at least when he isn't dealing with security at the posh estate (dubbed Robin's Nest) of absentee owner, and celebrated-but-unseen author, Robin Masters and clashing with stuffy British butler Higgins. T.C. and Rick, buddies from Magnum's days in the military, help him out with cases. Magnum is provided nearly unlimited use of many of Masters' luxury items, including a Ferrari.

If I’m not mistaken, this was Frank Sinatra’s last and final acting appearance on television… it was an honor for Tom Selleck and the entire Magnum Hawaii Production to have him in one episode dedicated to his character… RIL, ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’… ❤️

I think you are correct but even if you were mistaken it doesn't matter to me. This is indeed the most memorable last moment in an illustrious career in music, radio, film and television. Ted Williams hit a home run in his final at bat but when I watch that moment I never well up in my eyes. When i watch this iconic Magnum PI episode, I shed a tear every single time.

That was one of Magnum P.I.'s best episodes. When Sinatra gives the "you beat her up and left her to die" speech, you could feel the anger, the rage, and the sorrow. That's acting with a capital A!

funny, in a cool way, that many shows have main characters named after a gun? Like Baretta, Magnum PI, and the movie National Lampoons Loaded Weapon 1 has 2 main characters called Colt and Luger!

I just read that Mister Sinatra was hospitalized just before he flew to Hawaii to film the episode. Tom Selleck said filming that episode was an incredible act of courage from Mister Sinatra, and I completely agree! Lots of great episodes over the years, but for me this was The Greatest!

Minus some cameos in the short-lived Rickles sitcom Daddy Dearest, and the TV movie Young at Heart, this marked Sinatra's last proper acting role.

Tom Selleck use to hang out with Frank at his compound in Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs. I'll bet they had some great times together. I'm sure Mr. Selleck has some great stories he could tell. Thanks Frank for all the great music and movies. He was like no other....... I don't think there will be anyone like him again.

And during that time I feel I was involved in enough noteworthy cases to keep a television show exciting for 5 years straight. It's a job that not just anyone can do and I'll be the first to tell you I wanted to quit a dozen times the first 2 years thinking I just didn't have it in me to be successful at it. Made lots of mistakes. But stuck with it and by year 4 when I became personally licensed the confidence in myself and successes created our firms reputation as being a golden one. Started by a retired LAPD Detective and his son, I having no law enforcement background whatsoever came on board as the first outsider. So when the owner retired and his son went another direction I kept at it with another firm and branched into corporate Security I no longer had to drum up business it amr to the corporate structure easily as I received my assignments accordingly. But it wasn't the same. It lacked the personal touches the relationships and friendships you which intertwines with your natural abilities and the moments that get etched in your memory for a lifetime. So one weekend in June 2016, I decided for the first time in my life believe it or not I was going to lie about being sick and took the Monday off. By 8am Tuesday the following day my boss had my resignation on his desk when he arrived. I walked away and never looked back. I don't miss the corporate level of what I did whatsoever. I do however after watching this and for other reasons not shown in this Magnum episode for the first time since 2016 I do miss my days as a local Private Investigator. My best friend and Co worker whom we worked for his old man all those years passed away on June 11, 2024. Maybe that has something to do with it as well. Thanks for listening.....
