Good stuff, very few can appreciate how hard packing an elk out of the mountains really is, till you’ve done it. Knees hurt till Christmas.

It can be awful. Had some tough days decades ago in the St Joe, Clearwater, and Selway. Have to admit the sheer numbers of game made it easier to find them and more opportunities. Its tougher today as theres just a lot less animals.
@johnstack4316Ай бұрын
We use horses because we're not stupid. You can pay someone $500 or less to pack out your elk with horses. We hunt 7 to 9 miles back in and wouldn't even consider doing it with my back. Very little money when you think about it.

very cool video gentlemen. Nothing more rewarding than backing a bull or two off the mountain. Only those who have packed that kind of weight for miles will understand the emotions of when you return to the truck. They come back to mind several months later over the dinner table.

I lived in Cour d'Alene for 2 years. I hunted up by Canada neat Bommers ferry and down by the St. Joe River......Wolves decimated the elk. I found wolf kills all over the place and wolves howling nighty. Kinda sucked and was disappointed. I hear the native American tribes brought the Timber wolves in for revenge on the white hunter. Makes sence
