That 3rd house was amazing. Who cares if you have to walk an extra 5-10 minutes for town?

A friend also bought a wind-mill place in France (invested loads for reno though!), about 20mins walk to town/only bakery nearby... and its a lovely french countryside walk. But... there are people who think even 10mins walk is far...

Americans always believe a 20 minute walk is too far, they are use to having cars around because in the U.S. is the most unwalkable country on earth.

I don't quite understand the need to BUY a house in any country before having a full understanding of what the culture, the system, the housing, etc. actually are. There are plenty of apartments to rent while getting used to the environment. But it's just my opinion based on having lived in several different countries. The third house had lot its charm but would have been a lot quieter than in the middle of town. But, to each his own.

the last house was definitely te better choice, although it had been striped of all the charm, because let me tell you, the noise they will get in the high season coupled with te weird layout is going to drive them nuts. Like true tourists, they didn't understand that being so close to the touristic area is a nightmare for te peace of mind

No 3 hard to beat I thought too…walking into a dining room could be changed. no 2 bathroom next to kitchen and walking through one bedroom to get to the next would be deal breakers for me…I would need outdoor space too. I thought kitchen could be fixed up by just adding cabinets. All basics appliances were there. enjoyed the episode.Pricier than I expected given no real exterior property.

Americans might need a speed course on Europe 101. I lived in Germany for 6 years as I was growing up, and traveled extensively in Europe, and homes in Europe are different than in the US. One of the first homes I lived in was a German farmhouse, very small fridge as alot of perishables were stored outside on the windowsill. Also only 1 or 2 rooms kept warm, the majority not. Rooms are not laid out the way we do them here in the States. If you decide to move to Europe (if I win the big one I'll be gone in a heartbeat) either adopt the European lifestyle or take LOTS OF CASH. But all in all, I love Europe.

Overlooking the river???!!!! There is a very good chance that house flooded during the huge inundation that roared through Vaison and washed away bridges. The Roman bridge, seen in one of the shots, stood, but the railings were swept away. A definite no, unless they get thorough information about the former flood and future risks. J'ai passé pas mal de temps dans cette région, je dirais au total six mois. Je comprends bien que l'émission n'est que de la "télé-réalité", mais il vaudrait mieux louer un appartement pendant un an pour qu'ils aient le temps de réfléchir.
