EPISODE 106 There is an abundance of food in these remote waters off Cape York in Northern Australia but there are also alot of creatures out there that will take your life, the Saltwater Crocodile being the main concern. The Uutaalnganu Tribe have been hunting these waters for thousands of years and seem to have an understanding, a connection or a knowing which has to be witnessed to be believed. Come along for the ride and make sure you subscribe for weekly episodes.
Huge shout out to Tremain and the family for having me out on country and sharing all this with us.

As a kid I grew up watching Malcolm Douglas and the Bush Tucker Man. I'm sure that both men would be proud to see you still capturing Australia as it is and as it was. What your doing is very important for all Australians thank you Nate. Ps Malcolm was a bit rougher when it come to the cooking segments

What an amazing Episode. Loved your story in the end about how the tribes lost their land and essentially their identity. You sharing these stories makes their stories and voices heard. The respect and knowledge of the land they have is a true treasure. You're also sharing it to the world. Here I am up in The Netherlands learning so much about these people and there cultures. Thank you for sharing these stories!

Hello Nath, I happened to come across you at the beginning of the Corona Pandemic and the lockdowns looking for nice videos that distract from the situation. Since then I've been sitting here in Austria/Europe and eagerly awaiting each and every one of your episodes. If only there were more people like you who pay so much attention to our world and foreign cultures! You are a great positive role model and I wish you that you can experience many more beautiful and instructive adventures together with the traditional owners. Many thanks and continued happiness and success! 🙂 John

I spent some time with some South Eastern elders and teens who took me walking throughout the Coorong and located everything with oral maps and memory , one lunchtime was at a giant midden heap. We collected piles of cockles /pipis in front of the sandstone rock plates black from Neolithic cooking . We loaded the rocks up with cockles and covered them with a dry grass and fired them up to see these elders come alive is brilliant and all had a wonderful love of humour .. People just love a day out with the family at the beach playing and eating fresh seafood and having a laugh..

Yes it’s an amazing culture which I respect wholeheartedly but why do the First Nations people get to keep their lifestyle with government payments from the taxpayers! I’ve paid for my house by working which is more than than the the people you call TO’s have ever done! Let them live on country without our influence.
@WildReaches
@WildReaches Жыл бұрын
Hi Martin. I think we need to look at the current scenario with empathy, not anger or jealousy. After spending so much time in communities it is very clear to me that life for First Nations People is not easy, they are still torn between living on country and living in the community where their grandparents were dragged to "literally". There are very limited opportunities for them to move to a city and get a job, rent a property, get a mortgage etc etc because they didnt grow up in a household where that was the norm. I know my parents both had jobs and a mortgage and their parents before them and so it was instilled in me. In remote communities across Northern Australia there are on average 16 people per dwelling, this isnt something i would envy whether it comes with a dismal monthly handout from the government or not. Remember too that there are plenty of non indigenous Australians on welfare. I agree that the current scenario isnt right but I dont believe its the fault of indigenous Australians. Its the product of several governments over the past 120 -160 odd years and it just seems that no one has come up with a better system since. I think we should be working together to come up with a solution and bring everyone together. Thanks for the comment Martin
@martinstockamp8240
@martinstockamp8240 Жыл бұрын
@@WildReaches apologies for commenting while on the beers! I agree with you in a lot of ways but what I said is still true, I live in Western Australia and you look at the problems across this state and others. I’m not sure what the solution is but the amount of taxpayer dollars being invested in indigenous communities and programs is not right, because it’s not working. If you want to live on country then great but if you want to live in the city then you need to tow the line. I wish we could all be harmonious and maybe it will happen someday, the white folk are just as guilty ,I agree ,it’s always the minority that tarnish the majority . Like I said I don’t know what the answer is, so maybe I’ll just keep my opinions to myself.
