Awesome footage vid once again Fred, always nice to get those around camp jobs done early, although they are the mundane chores, it's great to see someone elses set up. Nice bit of meat for the freezer is always a bonus. Thanks for sharing your trip.👍👍👍👍

Beautiful part of NZ, last hunted there when Lyn Thynne (hope the spelling is right) was meat hunting the area and Reg Elwood was flying them out to Hopes chiller back in the 70’s …. Feeling a little old about now. Pat Braithwaite and his pack of misfits was camped up at Tawa Hut. Very interesting days back then. Great vid thanks.

Yea I remember my first time in here, came over from Moke one winters day, all Lyns possom permits were on a nail on the wall and his gear in the hut, but he was not there that day, I never stayed just went back over to Moke same day., its a great spot in there.,,Thanks for watching👍😁

Hi fred a native from the ureweras here ..wow cool vid m8 ..was that a drone u used ? That got pretty high . I mainly hunt Maungapohatu and Ruatahuna . I loved that old forestry hut smell . Is Kohunui hut on the eastern side of ureweras toward gizzy ?
@nzmeateater4 жыл бұрын
Gday Sonny, Thanks for the comment,,yep I use a drone and yep the eastern Ureweras, 2 or 3 day's walk from Maungapohatu. I love it too, love hunting n just being in the bush aye. a good reality check away from an insane world., Maungapohatu n Ruatahuna are nice spots in the middle of paradise .

some nice open bush there! Do you have to take the good with the bad or is it mostly open like that?
@nzmeateater4 жыл бұрын
Usually the higher we go the better the bush untill you get to the thicker monkey scrub at the snow line, coastal bush often thicker, I think its temperature related ,,,to a degree.

A great vid marred only by you showing someone else's rubbish left in the fire place. You look to be the same generation as me and most probably sit there scratching your head thinking "What's so hard about take your shit home and put it in the bin!" Thanx for sharing the trip and showing a tidy hut when you left.
