Who's ready for some Hunting Giant Alaska Bull Moose? We sure are!!
Welcome to Hunting in Alaska - Episode Eight.
The team is brimming with confidence after their successful grizzly bear hunt the previous day, (Click here to watch now - • Epic Alaska Grizzly Be... ).
Re-energized its time to head back out into the epic Alaskan wilderness for some extreme hunting on the trail for a monster giant bull moose.
The constant change in weather does make conditions challenging, however, Ian and Steve don’t let this dampen their spirits and it isn’t long until they catch a glimpse of the big bull.
After several hours of glassing, heavy rain and being eaten alive by flies, it’s time to head back to camp. Although the team was unsuccessful today, they are hopeful and already formulating a plan for tomorrow.
Back at it early the next day, Steve’s eagle eye spots their big bull in the distance. The weather is finally on their side and after approaching the moose through a batch of willows and alders, Ian sets his shooting sticks and readies his rifle.
This is the most critical part of the hunt. The bull has spent the week surrounded by cows, calves and younger bulls - plenty of eyes, ears and nostrils to detect their approach. They must move slowly and deliberately, paying close attention to the swirling wind and close cover where dangerous predators may also be lurking.
Ian prepares his rifle; there will be no mistakes this time…
On the next episode of Hunting in Alaska, Ian and Steve are packing out their moose and Hunting black bear.

I have really enjoyed this series so far, nice to see someone making videos on how much time that is actually put into every harvest. Magnificent animal and a nice quick kill! Wish they were as big here in Sweden.. ;)

I'm chuffed to bits for you & ever so glad your making use of the meat or some one is. As you see too many vids of ttothy hunters just taking the heads & leaving the rest.

where? Should me these pictures of folks "leaving the rest". I call bullshit. I know of no meat or trophy hunters leaving good meat behind.

A big boy that one.. Those antlers are like a bull dozer scoop.. :D Good shot from a distance Ian! Harvesting a bull that size is hard work with only 3 guys.. Congrats!

Don't doubt it for a second.. :D Actually I just had some moose meatballs from one of our last fall's kills.. Minced moose roast, a bit of black pepper and salt and some Scandinavian herbs mixed with chips of slightly fried bacon and some honey-cooked carrots and broccoli.. And potatoes and cream sauce.. ;D

If you're interested in making a simple, yet delicious feast out of moose is that you shave real thin slices off the roast while it's still half frozen.. You'll need a really sharp blade for that.. Then you take a thin slice of apple, wrap a slice of bacon around it, just gently frie it closed as they say and then wrap the thin fillet of moose around the bacon and apple.. Then dip it into red wine fondue and let it cook for 3-4 hours.. Make some cakes out of thin sliced potatoes and egg whites, make them like a sugar cone and put them into oven.. Serve that with fresh country bread and butter and some red wine or proper beer..

Very Nice shot Mr. Ian. And very nice shot Mr. Wild. Beautiful Moose and Grizzly. How much meat did you get off that huge Bull?! And what was the distance on the shot on the bear? I am subscribing to y'alls channel as well. Look forward to more amazing videos to come.

the 338wm SST seems to be ideal! What made you choose SST instead of say GMX, Federal Trophy Bonded/BearClaw etc? God's Love to a Great Trip!

One of the best types of hunting and being in that rare and rough terrain for days makes you feel like another person or what do you think ? I got one question. What are you doing with all the meat you harvested ? Especially of the bears. Are you taking all the meat into your Camp ? Because of the scent and the bears still around that is not easy or is it ? Greetings and congrats from Germany

what sort of money would a hunt of that quality add up to ?
@TeamWildTV
@TeamWildTV 6 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the outfitter, the hunting area and how much gear you have to fly into camp. The more animals you intend to harvest, the higher the cost of the bush plane transfers to bring out the meat. We are planning a self-guided hunt this fall that should provide a more affordable option for hunting in Alaska for the more experienced hunter and will be following the planning process in a later series.

How are you keeping the bear meat from spoiling?
@TeamWildTV
@TeamWildTV 6 жыл бұрын
We have to rely on the ambient temperature to keep the meat and skins from perishing. Luckily the temperature has been fairly cold, but it's alwaqys a consideration.

ljw2896 that situation appears to have been resolved, with KZbin reinstating the channels. It only appeared to affect airgun specific channels, whereas se cover many types of shooting and hunting activities. The situation was very worrying though
