Quick bit to add. Didn’t really catch on to these for whatever reason. second to last move as that sick looking sound blast chain reaction down the sound bubbles, and I think that last attack might be a counter or parry. Crazy shit man. Weapon looks great!

Just about to comment that the 2nd to last is ranged and last is a parry. The beginning when he plays the melody it looks like a double encore so maybe 3 teirs if buffs with maybe rise melodies?

The order in which they’ve been releasing the weapon vids has really been throwing me for a loop. Especially gunlance and hunting horn I would not have expected to see in the first five videos

Hunting Horn is my main and Gunlance is my second. I have been thrilled to see them up front. I didn't expect to see them for DAYS. I appreciate the love - I hope seeing them among the first weapons shown get new players to give them a try even tho the more popular weapons will surely ramp the hype up before Gamescom.

They probably want to do a blend of popular and less popular weapons so that the community stays interested until the end. If they just had started with “greatsword, Longsword, charge blade, hammer” first then a lot of people would’ve stopped watching

dropping Hunting Horn showcase on my birthday was not the gift I expected from Capcom but I welcome it with open arms! I love how BIG they made the buff bubbles, it was a bit restrictive in iceborne for teammates to get those buffs, especially with monsters that move around a bit. It will definitely be a staple as my backup in every hunt regardless of what primary I pick.

I love the idea that they are bring back the echo notes, they were a way of givng hh a new attack but also encouraging its use beyond damage because you had to use it after a note to then play another note for the 2 new songs on each horn. Weird that it wasn't 3 per horn, 1 per note, but I guess in Iceborne they didn't have enough time or new song ideas. The thing he's comparing to Frontier, I don't see it, looks more like the echo note system comboing into a song and showing off that interupt attack mid song. The bubbles also seams to just be a thing you can pop up since the first time we saw it there was no combo leading up to it.

@@cr-volcanic I have to wonder though, could we end up with a situation like the vortex kinsect in Sunbreak and we see 4 hunting horn users stacking buffbbles and abusing the ever loving crap out of all of them XD. I might not want to see this...but I kinda do. Monster earbleeding for days!

They took what we liked about World horn, added some of the cool stuff from Iceborne, and altered a thing or 2 from Rise. I swear to gog, the combo he spends so much time on is echo notes. That's why it has the different sound design. Looks like they are separating that from the song bubble effect. since that pops off a different animation without a combo leading up to it.

Also some of it looks like Iceborne's echo notes are back and the song effect bubbles that those songs had but they are 2 separate things now.

@@jockpackage1770 I think the echo notes are functionally different and get caused by ANY song you play, aswell as other triggers and are no longer part of their own unique attack.

The extra tics of damage seem to becoming from the pools reverberating with the hunting horns shock wave. You will notice the shockwaves being generated by the pools on the ground right after the horn makes one with its attacks. Seems to make the horn an AoE weapon of sorts. Which given the herd mechanics of monsters' may be more relevant.

Well a huge part of hh is often caring almost as little about where you hit the monster as gl since it's tuned more for exhaust than KO. An earlier video showed a monster with like 4 wounds on it. In a team of 4 your can each focus a different part, have hammer or others focus the head, cutting weapons focusing the tail and hh and gl hitting anywhere the others are not so the ydon't fight over wounds and weak points while they play songs/build up exhaust or shell. Exhaust is so underrated. There's a reason it doesn't work on elders and KO does, it's cause exhaust is better. Instead of 1 short window where the monster doens't move, you get a long window where they are slower and have more opening as they fail to use some of their attacks like breath attacks. This could also be for elders, typically the massive monsters are elders so even if exhaust doesn't work they can stack all these bubbles around it and do AOE damage.

@@jockpackage1770 That just isnt the case; as a hh player you should be primarily on the head or whatever is weak to blunt regardless of whether there is a hammer player. GL is one thing because your damage is IRRESPECTIVE of where you hit in regards to shelling. If I as a HH player sit and just hit the hind legs simply because I CAN buff things doesnt mean i should and im actively harming the hunt because im dicking around trying to apply exhaust for whatever reason (btw most monsters take more exhaust buildup hitting the head). There was a reason Iceborne introduced the ko echo waves and and a lot of the echo notes; it was to aid HH players at being more aggressive and not just being corner dooters. Exhaust isnt underrated: its pretty fairly rated; its dogshit compared to KO and thats why no one really cares about it. It doesnt work on EDs and on other monsters KO is something that can immediately turn the tide of a hunt. Exhaust is merely a bonus attached to HH and hammer and can come up occasionally at best.

@@Cirillian You're being foolish, I didn't mean literally never hit the weak spot. I meant you are free not to and, if it's the head, you get a different benefit from hitting other things. Are you one of those people from Rise that never even considered tail cuts. Rise had so many that a friend I got into the series with it laughs at the very notion of other players cutting tails. Assuming glaive isn't still shit damage in the air for this team. If they were putting respect on air glaive, they would have shown its red buff combo like how they even bothered to show charged shelling on the gl and that it even got a rework. They went even so far as to show charged shelling first. Little history of gl, in World long shelling and charged shells were shit so no one used them, Iceborne they realized that and buffed it a lot, then for the entirety of Rise no one used it again because you sacrifice the mobility of blast dash to even use charged shells at all. So the use of the play style was punished. With gl in Wilds, they are giving us a rework of this move with a rather checkered past and they also gave us another move that serves as a more grounded reposition tool to replace blast dash and not cost us a play style, via switch skills.

@jockpackage1770 Yeah, I know glaive wasn't too powerful on air, but you could use mount as a cc to bring down the monster, and glaive moves had good vertical hitboxes. It's not optimal but good enough for me, mixing fun factor and viability. Especially the dive drill added in iceborne. Didn't play sunbreak, so im not familiar with glaive moveset in that game. Also, so far, all the weapons look awesome. On end game, I am trying all out.

@@baldbishop1667 I'm just saying why not go further into mid air attacks to make IG even more unique. Rise's biggest change to the weapon's core was that as you hit the air combos consecutively, before touching the ground, they would do more damage. This meant the silk bind that was descending thrust was a fair bit stronger if you waited to do it after 3 successful air flurries. Kind of like bow's dashing around charging shots so IG was even more like bow but still had the massive chasm between their damage, Also one of the Sunbreak monsters, who people see as a downgrade subspecies, had an attack that was a sweeping beam with the trait of it moving up or down to account for ledges it passed over. This had me hopeful that future monster design may also have attacks that adjust more like that so IG is would be less safe in the air but be allowed to do more damage as a trade off. So far, aurora romnocanth is the only monster that does this.

GU's HH was more focused on going on the offensive since in GU HH had the double notes mechanic where you would hit the monster and it would put a double note on your song board and if you have a full song made up of double notes it would double the effects of your song

I don't think anyone complained about the flashiness of Rise horn they complained about it being simplified for non-horn players because Horn players are satisfied with Wild's Horn and it's Arguably flashier than Rise while maintaining its identity from World. Also that isn't the Default Horn its either one of the village horns or Doshaguma horn

One thing I don’t like is that hunting horn is seen only as a support weapon when it is a mix of support and damage. You’re meant to attack the monster to get the notes not just sit off in the back. Btw playing songs could always damage the monster in fact it’s one of the most damaging moves in a hh movesets. I believe one of the complaints about hh in world was that its damage was just a bit too low and I imagine the “sonic booms” you mentioned aren’t echo wave songs but a so g which gives extra attacks for a song to bump up that damage maybe? But if a stretch hit it’d be cool. That’s all coming from someone who one of their favourite weapons is hunting horn pre rise so overall I’m glad because this was the one thing I was worried about with wilds. We are so back more than anyone else!

The back swing before the recital mode has echo waves and flashes white. A lot of the hard hitting moves in the combos flash white with echo waves

Theres little to no 2nd gen or Frontier HH to this new version, which is fine imo because Recital Mode in those games was suuuuper clunky. What I'm seeing here is more like the World HH, but designed like the Rise HH. If that makes sense lol. It has the technical mechanics of the former, and the fancy aggressive moves of the latter

Throughout the first sequence, it seems that now during recital and encore you have the option to input extra directional attack to allow maneuver during recital instead of recital going on for all 3 saved song like in world

There's either a second form of recital that plays notes from melee hits, or all songs queued into the notation in a combo alongside songs queued from melee hits are played all at once at the end of a recital.

Or, 3rd option, you just skip to the ending attack recital with no extra notes to do songs queued from melee hits outside of recital. That could mean playing songs you get from melee combos are faster than songs made by staying in recital stance.

was SO excited to see hunting horn so early :) i planned to have my main & sub weapons as cb and gs respectively, but the way hh is looking i think im gonna pick it up again!!!! i love seeing analyses of the weapon trailers to this incredible caliber, even just the first half of this video acting as a dissection of literally the first _minute_ of the trailer is so fun :) your reactions are awesome, definitely subscribing to see more of this kind of content!!! i too lost my shit at the guitar shredding part, that animation was absolutely fucking ABSURD in the best way possible, i really hope that attack can be implemented effectively into combos. thank you again for making such an awesome video, i hope you have a good day :))

I've been maining the Hunting Horn since 4U, I always fall in love again with the premise of the horn every time I use it in a new game, this feeling like the best of both World's and Rise's horn with notes of GenU much like how World/Rise had hints of GenU horn in it means I will once again be picking up Horn to buff teammates and support the battlefield by dropping the monsters HP to zero yet again!

Someone else beat me to it, but while Generations had a pretty traditional moveset for hunting horn it incentivized actually going in and being aggressive by giving doubled notes that did longer duration/more powerful versions of songs as a reward for hitting the enemy instead of sitting back and doing empty swings. I still prefer how Rise hunting horn *moves* because it makes it really clear how aggressive of a weapon it's meant to be, but I think Generations had the best system for songs.

Been a HH main since 3, very excited for wilds HH. I dropped it in Rise not because the loss of support identity and such but because HH had always been a weapon you have to really learn attacks and "dance" with the monster to deal damage with its slow attacks, long animations, and odd swinging angles. Rise sped it up a lot and gave it multiple invulnerable moves that killed a lot of the indentity and fun for me.

I went back through the Monster Hunter channel to look at the showcases from World and Rise and it’s a lovely display of how Monster Hunter has grown in popularity over the years. The World showcases got around 250k views, Rise would get around 300-350k views, and Wilds is getting around 550-600k views. So many more eyes on this beautiful series now 🥲

I played HH in GU, but only for a little bit, and it was a very odd way to play it. I used a hunter art to play all my songs at once, a then I just hit the monster over and over. By the time my songs ran out, the art was charged up again. It was a nice loop. Very brutal. I’m happy Wilds horn seems to also be very brutal

Its world horn basically with expanded animation variation for recital and encore, extra attack-maneuver input timing between songs recital and an absurdly fast recital time of only a few frame. . Focus mode attack would replace input scheme of wirebug from rise

So i put in a comment after I watched capcoms main video for this, and now at the end pf this break down I'm seeing more stuff. Seeing the bone horn towards the end with a different move that looks like a modified attack from the old recital. Maybe different horns will have different recital modes? May be a cool way to change up the weapon and keep some of the older and newer players around. Just a thought.

One of hte most amazing parts of hh and an unsung hero is exhaust. Yeah, doesn't work on elders and endgame so people obsessed with that give it a bad rap but, think about that for a second, KO was not seen as too strong for them to let you use it on the toughest monsters that was exhaust. KO is nice, a short time when the monster can't move, kind of like paralysis, but exhaust alters a monster's animation for a much longer time so they are slower and some animations will be duds so the attack doens't come out. This makes a longer period where the monster is moving but is way easier to deal with and damage. The hh has 2 key aspects, more so the music but it differentiating itself by being better at exhaust instead of KO like hammer is important. Echo bubbles from Iceborne are back, awesome, those had some fun effects and i'm hoping we get more of them. Earth shaker like thing. I always liked the eggs as, Cotton called them, more but earth shaker was fun and fits as a move to keep. That may be an echo note, from Iceborne, those could only be comboed/played after a note and you had you're 2 extra songs that were echo note plus one of 2 notes for the 2 songs. Weird that it wasn't all 3 notes and there weren't 3 echo songs per horn but i guess Iceborne didn't have enough echo songs for that to work. This looks like echo note to me. They may have altered the playing the song animation if it's with an echo note. It looks like it's note, echo note, song, interrupt note, and song finish. The bubbles that were in some echo notes may just be something you can pop now with a different move. Yeah, why show another weapon now, unless you have to, to show off that move? Confirmation that different horns will have altered moves like that, otherwise this makes no sense.

From what I’m looking at it looks like double notes from GU cuz there are 3 buffs going on. with the way a special note or double note works it does a song plus the encore of the previous song. If not it’s single notes for 3 different buffs.

Hunting horn is getting some incredibly flavorful animations. Here's hoping there's a decent complexity to the songs, because that was the main thing that made me switch mains in Rise. Oh I can't wait to get my hands on a demo. All the weapons so far look really good.

The horizontal attack during the encores might be him changing the song he is playing or something like that, it wasn't necessary in world to play the 3 queued songs in the same performance, but it would be a nice way to allow you to not spend 3 or so seconds standing there performing the 3 songs without doing anything else

One of the weapons I was considering before the showcases started and it’s definitely still in the running. Really feels like they took the best bits of GU, World, and Rise Horn to make it look really good here. Might pass on it for Hammer, though, depending on how that looks and feels since I’ve been missing Hammer, but it’ll be a tough choice.

Based on the sound and animations it seems to me like the attacks done while the worm was stunned during that early clip was like worlds recitals and encore and playing the songs in the queue. You can see similar effects when they are in the field playing the sonic booms and also the hunter glows white in a similar way to when they mention how you can give buffs to teammates. It does seem like they are either adding more encore followups to allow you to replay individual songs faster or maybe even you can cast songs up to three strengths now and that's what they are showing off maybe?

I played the hell out of hunting horn in world and then again in rise. I had been trying to get into it since unite, but I usually went back to gunlance and swax. Both fifth gen updates were pretty cool. I will say rise wasn't as satisfying to hit with, because of the faster flashier attack animations. That being said, when I went back to world a few months back, it was almost unbearably slow to go through the four note songs, especially the ones that needed two double notes. I'm hoping this version will take us down a middle ground. It looks like the recitals at least will be much faster. That will help out the feel. I can't wait to get my hands on this. I hope we get a little demo like we did when rise was coming out so I can dink around with testing.

I actually think the horn is Doshaguma's not the village's the overall aesthetic as well as the hide colors make me think so as it doesn't fit with the others we have seen so far (that being the great sword and gunlance) over all love the new HH glad its getting this change as someone who didn't really like rise/sunbrack HH

The one thing rise did right was make elemental and poison viable. So wilds might as well.

I have a theory and until now its correct they are showing us low tier armor + armor of monsters we saw chata is obviously the lowest tier monster out of the 5 we saw (rathalos + thor magala are the other 2 if you got confused) low tier armor that are left are (I think) LBG, and DBs possibly LS and lance (dusha and bala's armor) that leaves 5 weapons left that look like they are using higher tier armor. SnS (rath armor), hammer, bow, swax and CB I guess these 5 are the last 5 we will see most likely tomorrow would be LBG or DBs since I think congalala's armor I think is a low tier armor BUT I could be wrong and they want to make DBs a SURPISE CONGA IS BACK! and make it after LS and lance's showcases? I hope its DBs tho bc im a DB main and I am not nearly as interested in bowguns, thats the worst part about it being random never know when im gonna be a tad bit disappointed (sorry bowgunners) but I have to admit HBG was looking really cool and I will give it another chance (its my least fav weapon, tried it in world and rise)

Maybe I missed it or they have some reason for it not to be present despite existing but I didn't hear any distinct melody on the performance and that concerns me a bit. Also I wonder if you can buff, swap to a different weapon, and keep the buffs. Horn as a secondary weapon with the song duration skill could be interesting to mess with. I'm sure we'll find some way to abuse it.

I don't think that's a sonic burst tbh, I'm not seeing any hitsparks or sfx that would imply it Then again GL's shells don't have that, but I think it would be weird if they took away the hit effects from the sonic bursts considering they were there in Rise

I liked it when I watched it this morning but the thing that bothers me is how fast it is. It all looks good but its almost completely lost all of the slow and deliberate play of WorldBorne and I'm not the biggest fan. I definitely prefer this over RiseBreak Horn but it wasn't what I was expecting

@@thegreatcosmicaxolotl bruh lbg is a range weapon, with your logic the hbg is a best weapon in the game as it can do all and has more damage than lbg. They both have the most similar play style as they both focus on hitting the head.

Not necessarily. The way blunt weapons work is they do exhaust and stun damage. Hammer has higher stun values and hunting horn has higher exhaust values so they both have their place. From a hunting horn/insect glaive main both hammer and hunting horn good
