@Simon-talks

Yeah this doesn't have anything to do with preferences. Many of these aren't hunting knives and are just knives they need to sell to get rid of inventory.

I agree why pick something of the choices their are plenty of hunting knives. Not trying to sound like a fan boy but benchmade has a whole line of hunting knives and they couldn’t put 1 benchmade in or knives of Alaska also make hunting knives just saying their were plenty of choices when you think about it that could have easily replaced some of the non hunting knives featured in a hunting knife video.

I was looking for a hunting knife that lasts for a long time and doesn't rust. Finally, I got the knife that met my expectations. This knife doesn't rust for 2 years. I am very glad the blade is the same sharp as the first day it was. I bought it from Almazan Knives and am thinking about buying another one for my little brother.

I was seeking a stainless steel blade heavy-duty hunting knife. Suddenly I saw a knife that brought my attention to it and I bought it. The knife is very good and the stainless steel blade is very sharp. The knife handle is made of pure wood and the handle is really non-slip. I am very satisfied with my purchase from Almazan Knives

Some of them are hicarbon steels and some have leather sheets. Something I wouldn't use in a hunting knife because the knife could rust and the leather would get dirty and drenched from the inside. You want a plastic or kydex sheath so you can clean it well.

To be fair people used high carbon steelAnd leather sheaths for a long time without issue. Stainless, modern steels are nice but HC is serviceable and less expensive

@@westsenkovec wipe it on your pants. Sharpen it and that also will take off the rust. I'm not saying stainless isn't great. I prefer my EDC fixed blade to be a SS. But some (if not most) of the best survival and bushcraft knives are a HCS. They are not at all hard to take care of. Especially if your just hunting for a few days outside. It's hardly s comparison between horse and cat. More like car and better milage car.

Gotta say for hunting, I’d swap that Buck knife for the 103 model…a true classic!! Me I carry the Hidden Canyon Benchmade and I personally ground off, then polished where the Jimping was located. (Hard pressure for 3 hours skinning at a time is tough on these old thumbs!)

For hunting i think 2.75" to 3.5" inches is the sweet spot for field dressing. big enough to do what you need and small enough to get inside the animal and finger the knife for detail work and light to carry/pack. bigger knifes aren't necessary and can be too big to work with exception would be if you need to quarter up a very lage animal animal like moose or elk then 3.5" to 4.5" blade to help with that. I think a benchmade hidden canyon is good for most small game and deer great knife for indexing and good s30v steel or like a buck 113

Got the White River M1 Backpacker based on their refs years ago. It won’t even strip bark off of tree branches it came so dull! Have the Bradford with the 3D handle scales and it’s a thousand times better than the White River. It’s so sharp it pierced the welting of the sheath just hanging from my belt (bought the kydex sheath after that). Of course the Bark River knives are terrific.

As with any knife, the Bark River has the fuller to increase blade strength. A lot of people seem to think it is a blood groove, but that is not the intended purpose.
@twyych

It reduces weight (and therefore alters balance) while maintaining strength; it doesn't increase strength over an "un-fullered" knife of the same profile.

well you process the animal later after you're done hunting what you need when you're in the hunt is something to kill the big game if the bullet or arrow hasn't finished the job (a 6'1/2inch dagger and up or a 13 inch and up Bowie will do) then you bring the carcass back and process it later with knives made for butchery you have hunters that just take a large piece of skin or the head and bring that back those guys are dumb their living all the meat behind then again I hunt french style where you eat what you hunted with everybody and get drunk over that and sometimes holes appeare in the ceiling so you know ....

I like the 110. Wood, brass, steel, and great blade shape. And to top it off, decades of PROVEN reliability and performance. It's odd to me how all these armchair metallurgy experts crap on the 420 yet most of the 110s from the 80's are still around. Although I must admit a lot of the old ones I see are are ground down almost to the spine lol.
