From my experience in game, if you have a shotgun in your weapons load out, you want it to be a 12-gauge with bird shot and buck shot as your ammo, than a medium caliber rifle like a .270, and a big boy like a .300 WSM. That runs the gambit from 1-9 with over lap depending on how you're feeling. But also, Call of The Wild: The Angler! For guys, like me, that love to go fishing!! Hell Yes!!

Tip, when hunting most birds it’s actually best (at least in real life) to shoot right before they land. This is because they can’t get enough speed and must touch the ground in order to take off again so you get the most time. Plus they tend to panic in this time.

I spent my teenage years playing Deer Hunter 4 (2000) and Trophy Hunter 2003 - Rocky Mountain Adventures. Now that I have 600+ hrs in theHunter COTW, I took a look back at those old games and wow the graphics have come a long way!

Watching Drae use a .22 to shoot at ducks is pretty funny. Just use the shotgun Tip 1. Bring the decoys closer Tip 2. Make a landing strip out of the decoys so the ducks will land in between the decoys (if the game is that realistic)

@@crashbandit7270 well RF4 is a great game. I'm over 3000 hours in. Lvl 40 which took me 2 years. And only thing I use was the premium service. Now I will say this. The only good thing about premium is to level faster but it hurts you in the end if your over leveled. I would just used it for skill training. The happy hour. At lvl 40 I should have good gear right now but still gor the basic carp gear cause premium levels you faster but it does not help getting additional silver. There is where the grind is. I creat a new account that not going to have premium service. Just going to play it just like any other player with no premium account. I'm finding I'm level 20 already and am around 50% on almost all skills except cooking and lure making. Lure making should be a skill to learn at the end when silver is more easier to obtain. Like using lure fishing like belaya or trolling Kuori. Volkhov and Archi. You can gain silver without sinking money into it like if you carp fish. Your constantly spending silver cause of different baits or groundbaits. ImUf you think that most actually spend like 300+ silver on carp fishing. With just spin fishing. All you spend is for lure. Leader and line. Plus the cost for boat tickets. Game is a grind if you make it that way. Have fun with it and enjoy the game at a nice slow pace. Good luck.

You can also minimize the red zones on the map by not immediately capturing the animals you kill. Mark their locations and keep hunting in the same area, then pick up a group instead of one at a time

me and my firend found out that running thorugh the woods like maniacs is not fun on some map but others with high spawn rate its fun as shit to just go 20 mins without nothing to a whole herd and just hear what sounds like a battle ship opening fire plus chasing things down on a four wheeler just to hop off and blast the shit out of the poor creature and yes we do play the right way some times and .300 on bunny's is fun

.22 calibre is really only good for small game, mostly just rabbits in my country. Hollow-point ammo isn't great for penetrating the skull though. Not sure if you can change the ammo in this game.

For hunting, if the animal is moving. shoot where they are gonna be, not where they are. And use a 30-06 , what I use and works wonders

You're supposed to hunt birds with a shotgun and birdshot hence the name "birdshot" makes it a whole lot easier then trying to hit a bird flying through the air with a rifle

The 22LR is actually quite nice for sniping swimming ducks, though i prefer the Virant 22 Express. I've found that at 150m range the sound of the 22LR doesn't immediately spook the ducks so they don't fly away if you kill one. They will get spooked if you miss and hit the water near them but they don't care if you hit a duck right next to them lol. And with the scope set to 150 as well the Virant is dead accurate and quite steady so you can easily snipe a couple.

A sense of smell is essentially non-existent for the vast majority of bird species and in most places its usually illegal to use a .22lr semi-auto rifle for birds and only legal to use a shotgun with birdshot. Plus, for most places now, you can only use non-toxic/lead-free shot for waterfowl....

This game is pretty good with the art of hunting wild game, but it doesn't seem to encourage restraint - something a 13 year old learns when his dad takes him hunting the first time; that you don't just shoot at everything that crosses your path. "Bears don't travel in packs" is not really correct. Black bears (maybe brown bears too but I grew up on the east coast) will move around in loosely associated groups. It's not a "pack" and they don't follow and bend to an "alpha leader's will" but the younger bears learn that the older bears know where to find food. The only time this is not the case is during fall mating season. Also, offspring of a mother bear will stay with their mother up to two years until they become full adults. This could lead to stumbling into a possible group of five bears in one place with a VERY protective mother leading them. Two things to note about duck hunting: 1. Unless you are trying to set a sharp-shooter record, you hunt foul (other than turkey) with a shotgun. Also, a rifle projectile of any caliber shot at the water will end up buried into the trunk of a tree (or another hunter's skull) on the other side of the lake. Rifle bullets skip on water better than flat rocks. 2. Unless you are desperate to put dinner on the table and willing to throw sportsmanship out the window to do that, you shoot a bird ONLY in flight. That's why duck hunters spend a lot of time at the range shooting skeet ... with a shotgun. Bonus 3. shooting ducks floating around your decoys, you are likely to severely wreck your expensive decoys.
