Dad needed to lettttt goooooooo. He's a real argument for single motherhood -- so used to telling women what will and won't be, with mum falling into line, that he delayed his daughter's adulthood for years. Good for Chloe for cutting him out of the property picture and getting on with it herself.

For the couple, the 1st property was the best for me. It was over 100k below budget, turn-key, big beautiful open plan kitchen, private garden not overlooked even though the house is semi-detached. The only compromise is the smallest bedroom but I will compromise on that and compensate the child that would take the room. For the lady, the 1st house was beautiful and I would have gone for it as well. However I am glad she lost out for the cheaper one she got.

I know the couple love their daughters, but they'll be leaving the home soon, so to base your house buying on the daughters is not wise, I think. So what if their bedrooms are smaller? They're gone in a few years! Suck it up! And good for the daughter to find a cheaper place so her father doesn't have to cough up any money. He can't be so controlling if his $$ aren't involved. Thanks for the upload.

This was a very frustrating episode, how I would have loved to have had my own bedroom as a teenager but shared with my much younger sister until I left home, buying solely on the size of teenagers bedrooms is madness. I understand dad being protective with his daughter’s investment and he can give advice however I’m glad she decided to go it alone.

Three miles away and they aren't familiar with the area. As an American we count counties and states away that we aren't familiar with, well, some of us anyway. I remember meeting my husband's relatives in the Netherlands and they hadn't been too far from their home and it seemed odd to me! I have been all over the world, lived in many different states and always look for the adventure of it. I lived on a sailboat for years so moving was always taking home to a new location, always fun and being able to explore new locations was always an experience.

I think its more that Dad wont approve of anything, and daughter is trying to keep him happy, if it was husband and wife, she could put her foot down, daughters don't have that luxury with out consequences. I think the pink house was much better, the ceilings didnt feel so low

I hate when someone give Phil a budget and then they turn around and buy something more expensive. He showed him a property that was 650k and then they said that was too expensive and then they turned around and paid $680 for something. And the young woman definitely should have been looking at flats instead of houses to start with. I think dad's pressuring her for a long term and she still young and wants to party with her friends. Just let her buy something and then in you know 5 or 10 years if she wants to get married and have kids and she can move to a different house.

First ever episode I've watched where I didn't think the buyers deserved the help. Dad was terrible! And the husband and wife choosing based on kids bedrooms with no enthusiasm just made me want to pull poor Phil out of there. So many more deserving of their help!

What is the deal about bedroom size? What are they using them for? I wasn’t listening that closely so maybe I missed why it is such a big deal?
@thehungrygoldfishАй бұрын
If you’re an adult living on your own or with a partner, then, yes that would be true. When you’re a kid or teen or an adult living with your parents or roommates or whatever, then you’re going to spend most of your time in your bedroom.

Down with homework! Homeschool! It takes a couple of hours a day and older kids are self-directed. Hours and hours of free time to be a kid, play, develop hobbies and skills, read books, tend animals, visit relatives, go on outings in school hours when nothing is crowded, meet people in the community, LIVE LIFE.

One advantage of a kitchen entrance for a single young woman is that strangers are unlikely to come knocking, especially as it's very visible who's out there.

Buying for the “girls” who’ll be leaving for Uni …..frustrating episode….jeez. So entitled.
@forestfieldsАй бұрын
I agree. I can't imagine basing my decision to buy a house primarily on what type of bedrooms my two children want. This is the sort of indulgence that leads to entitled adults.
@TricriForeverАй бұрын
I get the dad. He just wanted the best for his daughter. I think her comment at the end telling him it’s my money, when referring to the decision of decor was a bit tasteless. That’s your father who is giving his time and was essentially going to help you with your home purchase. Ended up not needing to take his offer but geese show a little bit more respect. Don’t forget who’s helped you along in life and has helped avail opportunities most people only dream of.
@meganseastrom5467Ай бұрын
2 years of dad controlling her choices when she's what. 27?!! That comment was because he kept her from buying for 2 long years (while prices have risen 50K!) and obviously he can't let go of his little girl. Problem is, she's not a little girl, she's an adult and she's right to choose something that he can't control her decision on.

Two years and still looking? Is this a case of "entitled" child and dad's money?
@litsci1877Ай бұрын
No, it's a case of Dad trying to control the situation. She eventually cut him out, used her own money that she'd earned and said goodbye.
@idharudhar5985Ай бұрын
@@litsci1877 She did use her money but was only able to save so much as she lived at home while working. Had she been renting for those years she might not have been able to accumulate a good deposit amount. That said, I think Dad being picky/ controlling was the reason they had been looking for so long and house prices kept going up and she could afford less of a house with every passing month/quarter. Good thing she realized the only way she would buy a house was without Dad's money/interference.
@toomanythings21 күн бұрын
Hardly. He wanted to control and make money off of her paying him back on his investment. Meanwhile housing prices had gone up, costing her even more money. She was right to finally cut him out in the end and use her own money to get what she wanted, as she was the one who was paying for it and would live in it. She'd have saved less if she'd moved out earlier, but this would have surely been more than made up for in what she paid on the property and how much it would have appreciated if he'd been able to let go and let her grow up. Dad was the entitled one.

In France, we are saying to never deal with teachers. They are a nightmare to go to the point, they always want more for their weak money, they always think knowing better than professional. Doctors hate them, we even name a syndrome after them: "MGEN syndrome " MGEN being teachers specific social insurance 😂😂😂
