Ben takes Rob hunting for sika in the Kaimanawa ranges of NZ. Things turn for the worst after taking a 8 point stag. Buy a PLB if you dont have one already! more videos and blogs visit www.bghnz.co.nz

Some heavy shit there Ben, well done keeping a cool head during the emergency. This is why you must get to know your clients/friends before you drag them off into the hills, especially people who haven't hunted much, and don't really know their limits yet. Shot Ben, and good on you for keeping the camera rolling, and showing us the reality of what happens when shit goes bad.

I've been taking a lot more risks and going deeper into the bush since getting a PLB and I've found some really good spots because of it.

Awesome vid bro...mean Tautoko to the chopper rescue team and PLB's...chur to showing us the harsh reality of when something goes wrong and you are able to respond appropriately to look after the brothers. At least he got his Jap stag and a cool adventure under his belt before things went south on him...Cheers bro Tumeke!!

Good old Barley sugars....I have some new ones and some that are probably 3 years old in the bottom of my pack. Not only should you buy one as Ben mentioned, but test it every year on your birthday if it has provision. I have a Mcmurdo and you can easily change batteries every 4>5 years.
@BGHNZ7 жыл бұрын
Amazing what some sugar can do, good idea to always have some food lurking in the pack somewhere.

AN INSULIN DEPENDENT DIABETIC SHOULD BE CARRYING A GLUCOSE INJECTION in remote places. I have been in this situation with no medical training and my wife unconscious with a head wound after she passed out in our caravan at our property, in the dark with no one to help me, & 70Ks from Bundaberg Hospital. I quickly made the decision to use the glucogon injection which I had to work out how to mix & use under pressure & caravan lighting which was really stressful, but as I was told at Bundaberg Hospital was the correct thing to do. After my wife revived we drove into the hospital so her head wound could be stitched.

Well done Ben, so awesome you posted this as a reminder to all. I hope he recovers okay. Good to know when I book a hunt with you soon that you are well prepaired and make the right calls when needed. Good work!

Thanks Ian, you hope you never have to use your PLB but great to know they work when they are required. Rob recovered over the next few days and was happy to shoot his first sika even if the trip was a bit shorter than planned.
