Skinwalker Hunt is a horror themed hunting game from the creator of Witch Hunt. Main focus of the game is on exploration, non-linearity, and atmosphere.
You play as a native American monster hunter, who will try to hunt down legendary creature called skinwalker in different parts of the world. You'll be able to find and use different tools and abilities to hunt and survive.

It almost looks like the description of the wendigo. Ash Grey skin stretched tight over a thin body frame, long gangly arms and legs, and the deer skull which is debated as to whether or not it's in the original description but still

It is unfortunately a stereotypical woodland monster trope (the dark two-legged body and the deer skull) that stems from a bastardization of European pagan folklore, which was assigned to many native monsters by colonial Europeans. It looks pretty awesome, but neither creature is supposed to look like that. Like you said though, the uncomfortably thin grey humanoid animal body is accurate to the lore for this one, it's just the deer skull that's off.

Perhaps they went off the stories of the actual practitioners of the dark magic/those intentionally starting or turning into Skinwalkers, as they are seen walking around with dead animals on their heads or shoulders. A deer could be used, though I think the favorites would be coyotes, goats, wolves...

Since wendigo/skinwalkers are supernatural entities and the skinwalker is sort of a shapeshifter at least to our perception, maybe they change to whatever we expect to invoke more fear

An example the wendigo wasn't strictly about cannibalism, it was about extreme greed in times of hardship, if the wendigo actually existed it would be closer to a greedy business man than a naked grey deer thing

You aren't wrong about the sounds. But it's when the woods go silent that you need to be careful. I remember a day when I was hunting whitetails and the valley I was in went dead silent. I spotted something huge and covered in black fur about three hundred yards away. I'm sure it was just a black bear, but I never identified it for sure. but I've never known a black bear to scare the birds and squirrels into silence. Just noticed I'm number 336 on likes, my favorite hunting rifle is a 336w Marlin, sweet!

@@mamasaurus4856 best thing you can do for them, I was raised next to a wildlife management area and most of my family are hunters, but since my dad, uncle, and grandfather are volunteer firefighters in a rural area we also get called out to search for missing hikers and the like. I've seen enough to know people don't go into the woods unprepared and come home.

@@Ryuujiish Sorry, the Red Forest I mentioned is from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series. In the game it's one of the most difficult areas due to dangerous mutants and low visibility. The forest in Chernobyl DOES exist, it's red like rust due to radiation (not sure), but as far as I know there isn't any folklore concerning this particular forest.

So in skinwalker legend, they are basically a cursed spirit and in order to "destroy" them you have to call them by their name when they were alive. Are you going to have to find out it's name? That'd be cool to add in having to find clues to who the spirit originally was and how/why they became the skinwalker.

You should regulate your meals. There's a small bar above the health whenever he eats something, and that's to show the amount of health he gains back over time. He always eats more than the health bar he has, which is a waste of food and ultimately, makes his more difficult.

I do recognize some of the sounds from the Witch Hunt game which is cool. And just like that game everything will attack you, the wolf howl was used as the werewolf in the game, the health sound effect is the same as well the sprint animation. I highly recommend you play Witch Hunt Fooster! It's pretty good and can hunt different monsters, wont give spoils tho :)

Yup- the Witcher's Leshen pulls from European pagan folklore, which was picked up by European culture as the posterchild for the monsters of non-Christian lore, and thus was incorporated into the Slavic-inspired lore of the Witcher. That same imagery was taken by colonists and assigned to the new non-Christian monsters they heard of in the new world, despite not being what the native stories said. Both the Wendigo and the Walker have been depicted this way, despite the deer-skull thing not being part of either in the original tales.

Awesome gameplay Foost! Right when you said "skinwalkers imitate things" I was going to comment.."skinwalkers imitate things" haha xD include people's voices, animals and that. I'm from Suffolk but went to visit one of my Native friends and their family over in the states for a 5 week trip few years ago. One of those weeks was pure 'guy time' hah we went up into the forests and mountaind areas to hunt, camp, trek and I was keen to show off my tracking skills to them (which tbf are sh*t compared to theirs ha) anyway one night we were camped out and I'd built a decent little lean-to shelter. Heard a very strange call, like a deer but it didn't sound well. I commented that maybe a bear had got it or something but my friend said Skinwalkers imitate calls, people's voices but they'll always sound 'off' somehow. They refused to camp there and made us yomp in the dark, uphill, to a little plateu covered in thick brush. I kipped up in a tree hollow and none of us slept much. Those stories get into your brain hahah amazing trip though! I do love proper natural landscapes and you can live comfortably if you know what your doing and have your wits going. I'll always believe one of my friends as we both saw a weird deer gallop off (a separate trip to visit her family) but as it was running, it reered up on two legs and went a way. That tripped me out tbh but otherwise..stories is stories for a reason I suppose

Fooster, unless you missed it, eating food provides a heal over time affect. Seeing you waste food by eating alot of it and when you already ate enough is eating at me XD. Another thing is, you are using a shotgun. Why are you pulling the trigger while being so far away. I dont know if the game use individual pellets or something, but there seems to be falloff damage. Nice gameplay though. Seems like a fun game, a tough one too.

The Skinwalker is actually based on a true story from Native American Indians. There is a place located in Utah USA called the Skinwalker Ranch and over decades has had lots of strange happenings. You should research " Skinwalker Ranch " there have been several documentaries made and I believe there is currently a TV show on the History channel called The Secret Of Skinwalker Ranch. Also, I enjoy watching you play these games Fooster.

I was taught by my elders and research skinwalkers are people who are shapeshifters who can turn into animals typically wolves they have a human body with wolves head glowing eyes (in some stories) it does take on various forms across many tribes, this thing looks like the pop-culture form of the wendigo which does not actually have a deer head however some stories may have something like it but its human-shaped and does grow in size having ashen skinned and sometimes a heart of ice (obviously this varies between tribes). All and all this game does look fun regardless of its "accuracy" cant wait to catch up on the other videos and see more!
