Nice chopper. Glad you didn't go crazy on the handle bars; very short risers and 5" or 7" rise on the bars? It's been awhile! Just turned 71 not long ago. I miss those old shovels and pans! Happy motoring!!!

Really dig the "tastefully" modded bikes over the all billet-everything aftermarket 30 grand choppers every time. The value over a stock bike may not be there,But this type build can be ridden,shown,modded some more..whatever you like.....Very cool as usual!

Awesome vids man! I'm just finishing my FL 1971 1200 rebuild. I must say the paintjob put it all in another gear! It came back so g***amn nice I had to stop thinking "just build it and roll" and had to start thinking "I'd better build a beautiful bike!!" It's gonna be a apehanger/california custom with the option to put the (amazingly nice painted) original fairing and handlebars plus original plastic bags on for those autumn-longrides Real inspiring to see your bikes!!! when they were set up like this, old school. they used an adjustable triple tree (like for side car use) to give the illusion of a longer fork, or a factory extended springer for military desert use (like off an XA< but also made for desert 45's). At this time, when bikes like this were built, there were no after market manufacturers of frames (this frame is an after market). Chopper's came later, and had a raked neck, ALWAYS

love your channel. very informative. I just bought a 72 FX that is mostly original. I have a DNA springer+3 but think I will put the stock front end back on. What would you recommend for a nicer front end to make this bike a good daily Rider. the OEM front just seems too small. Thanks
@HuntingHarleys8 жыл бұрын
The 1971 and 72 FX's are very different from the other FX's. Assuming your bike is mostly there. Personally, would find the missing pieces and enjoy it as a stock or very close to stock bike. The hunt is then part of the fun. But, everyone does something different with their machines.

1340 has better power and a little better oil pump. Additionally, the spark plug hole has more threads so it is harder to strip out the threads. Overall, they are fairly equal. They are not much cheaper here, when you add in shipping and tax. Maybe the same price even. Some rare shovels can easily sell for $15,000 US or more

+Richard Leathers Im using an S&S shovel motor in my 71 frame. Runs better than any stock shovel ever did. Aluminum heads that work oh so well in this Phx Az heat. No HD motor can last in 115 degree rush hour traffic but this motor never gets hot, the original motor is on my bench and its toast

+HuntingHarleys lol i always thought they were cast iron .LMFAO but they never last in the summer heat here in az. in fact even the evo and twin cam don't last. phx PD gave up on HD they are using the new Honda and BMW.
@HuntingHarleys9 жыл бұрын
the trick to HD's in the heat, Oil cooler (doubled) and 70 W oil, which HD in their brilliance, does not offer. You have to find someone who can get you Kendal oil, which is the same manufacturer as HD oil. The Iron Heads are Sportsters, pre 1986

Who makes a rigid rear frame for a 2001 Road King FLHRCI. I have one that was rear ended and it has an oddball swing arm part No# 4 54947-00 that seem to cost as much as a new reproduction main frame that the swing ares cost $50.00 for 02 and later. Base price ridgid shovels start at $10,500. We take a swing arm bike, put a ridgid rear section. Leave the tanks on it came with, or change to a Sporster style tank (your choice) and a cool rear fender, base solo seat and whatever exhaust / primary / chrome the bike came with. We can change out parts to whatever you desire, it is all about your pocketbook. email huntingharleys@gmail.com

Explain to her there is a difference between "i'll let you" and "This (or that) arouses me so much and I need it" which in turn if the same also works for you, works as well as this bike. She needs to find a kink that gets you both off this much. that is the path, you two need to find it.

So that shit started in the world of choppers to already.. Might sound weird, but i am into these oldschool videogames (nes/snes that kind of stuff) crazy prices have been going on for years, but ain't nobody gonna pay those prices unless they are happy to have a crazy person drunk on nostalgia paying €20 euro's for Super mario bros copy... Point is, people are fed up with Ebay prices.. And i think hipsters maybe getting into old choppers/bobbers like this, especially if it is Harley, because Harley is considered ''cool'' Anyway.. I think you will do good on repairing/maintaining bikes though, if my predictions are correct that is. I am not into the buying and selling bikesworld anyway. So my word is not worth much i think :P
