We go to Huntington from Atlanta every spring break to help with the non profit homeless ministries there. We love Huntington, the culture, the people, and Marshall Football.

Hi Mr. Akers. Thank you for your comment. I uploaded this video yesterday and meant to make it private instead of public, as the purpose of the video is to encourage physicians attending a conference at the DoubleTree Hotel in November to bring their spouses and kids with them because there's lots to do in Huntington. The video will be posted on the physician organization's Facebook page, so it can be seen by its members. And, as the conference will be held at the DoubleTree, most of the video shot in it is of attractions within a two-block radius of the hotel, though a lot of the video (museum, golf, bowling, Beech Fork Lake, Central City, Ritter Park, Heritage Farm, etc.) was not shot between 8th and 11th Streets on 3rd and 4th Avenues. The video was not an attempt to paint an overly broad and utopian view of Huntington. That said, ALL cities, no matter how great, have significant problems and trouble areas. But I don't think that disqualifies anyone from trying to highlight the good aspects of life in those cities. This was a promotional video, not a documentary.

The West Virginia Building at the beginning of the presentation. Familiar sight. At one time the tallest building in West Virginia. Designed and built in early 1920s, originally a bank building and now it is composed largely of apartments.

You as someone who worked on America's Best Community competition, I'm still waiting on those career opportunities they swore up and down would be coming.

First of all, congratulations on making a fine video. Your use of a drone and other camera work was impressive. With that said, I stopped off in Huntington during the first week of June 2019, and did not see this as the city your video tried to pass it off to be. My first stop was Madison Avenue just off the exit from US52. What I witnessed just off the exit ramp was a burned up house, with other nearby dilapidated structures. The litter and overgrown weeds in the area gave me the feeling of driving through some bad neighborhoods in Philly, Detroit, and Camden, NJ. I’m sure 3rd and 4th Avenues are nice between 8th and 11th Streets, but from what I’ve witnessed on the west end paints a totally different perspective. I hope you can make the area I passed through like the downtown depicted in this video.

I know this is an old comment, but as a native, I agree completely. This is not exactly a place to "bring your family."
