Really great discussion. I loved learning and hearing you all talk about this stuff.

I see primitive hunting as totally emerging yourself within nature in a natural state, and putting the hunters skill sets against the animals instincts of survival. Making your own tools to do so puts primitive hunters to the highest level of hunting. Great conversation guys and I appreciate your videos, teaching, and for supplying the public with your knowledge. Much Appreciate! ❤

Anthropologically, non-returning boomerang hunting has always been a numbers game--either lots of hunters with lots of sticks driving game, and/or throwing at flocks of birds where there are lots of birds! I think it would be fascinating to really be able to define the limits of its hunting utility.

Interesting conversation, gentlemen! To clarify - I’ve never hunted bait. It’s illegal in my state to hunt within 200 yards of a baited area, and food deposits must be removed no sooner than 10 days prior to hunting nearby. I hunt natural trails and choke points in spots with heavy deer populations. About half from the ground, half from tree branches. No stands, harnesses, binos, scent control, nada. Just a flannel, a hat and my bow! I was touching on the difficulties of hunting an area with so many deer that no matter the wind direction, you get busted most times because you’re surrounded. One doe blows, and the blows leapfrog across the landscape causing them to run in every direction. Don’t recall mentioning deer size, but my family likes meat so I kill does and bucks. Good luck to you all out there this season!

Good stuff, personally I feel the more primitive dudes hunt the more respect I have for em. Hunting is already a task in itself, to do it with the stuff you guys are using is just fuckin awesome. Ive only hunted in a tree stand mabey 5 times in over 20 to 25 years, I'll admit I do use a firearm. But only because ive never really had the opportunities or the people around me to try bow hunting or other means of hunting. Ive always hunted within 50 to 60 yards, with probably 85 percent of my shots takin inside of 40. I grew up on a single shot 410 and have killed everything from birds to deer with it. I do use a rifle now but I still hunt the same way I did since I was a kid, within 60 yards or less and on the ground in home made brush blinds and other things. I have done some spot and stalks but very limited do to having areas to hunt. I'm a meat hunter nothin more, horns are just a bonus if it happens to come along.

I love this video! Trying to explain the rush of sneaking up to animal as close as you can with what you made compared to taking a big deer with long range weapons is so annoying to the average hunter. Ive got deer with all kinds of weapons, different situations and everytime i wish i took my bow, primitive arrows and stone points. A few times ive been on public with a rifle and even got within feet of a big muleys or whitetail and let it walk, i guess my theory was if i shoot this big buck im never gna get one bigger with primitive gear. Those days i ready kick myself for taking a gun. Usually if i take a gun its cuz im with someone and unfortunately they seemed like they dont want me to "out do them" hunting with my gear, which im not out there to out do anyone but me. I like seeing my friends get the big one with a gun or crossbow and butchering it will them. On those hunts its more about enjoying the company but man if i kill one with my bow its always "how close did you have to get" or "why'd you shoot that little one". I tell them imagine how many big deer i could have killed with a gun or crossbow if i wanted to cuz i know how to really hunt. Plus all the crap they buy and take with them just to kill deer. All i need is water in my cheap pack and a knife. You dont need a pack with a bunch of accessories or sitka gear. Ive killed more with the same plaid wool hoodie and walmart pants lol
