So glad I found this video. I tried this on Australian possums. (I'm in NZ and they are a big pest here) It works marvelously. Used a Stihl RE163 Waterblaster with a rotating head straight after skinning and took less than a couple of minutes per hide and they come out really clean & no tearing!. Possum is a small animal but probably has tougher skin than rabbit.

I did 3 blacktail and an elk hide using your guide last November. Here in the states, it's nearly impossible to get a chrome tanning solution so I used EZ-100. I use a power washer to strip the skins like you did here. It worked pretty good but should have used a fleshing knife on the elk hide to thin it out a bit because it's like 1/2in thick on the rump. Great video as always! 👍

Thanks mate. Glad it was helpful. Weird about the chrome tanning solution. It's really popular here!

Just watching your other video on 'How to tan a deer hide'. In this video you say to de-flesh after the pickle stage. My question is do you also neutralize the skin with bicarbonate first before de-fleshing? Great vids. Thank you :)

does the pressure washer work with cow hides? i tried with mine but it doesn't do much to flesh it. am i doing something wrong?

Do you need to do any fleshing before the pickle? I'm worried it won't penetrate. I bought the d.s horne kit, and they go straight from a alum sulfate pickle to tanning with no neutralising. I'm planning on doing goats skins fresh. Thanks!

Warning! Never pressure wash with bare feet. Power washers can strip flesh from hides, imagine what it could do to your foot.

That is taking forever to flesh, I use a 4000 psi machine. It does a deer skin in 5 minutes. :)
