My best spot is literally behind our local dollar store where I can watch people go in & out the door but they can't see me. I've killed 3 good bucks there , my son his first 2 bucks, my son in law killed a huge 13 point over the years, it's only 17 acres. When I asked permission the guy who owned it said "Go ahead but there's probably no deer there it's to close to stuff "

@tannerwillis37015 жыл бұрын
I’m a big time hunter, but my property it’s illegal to hunt on because my property bumps up to the city limits. We have a neighbor behind us that hunts and one even further behind us that hunts. One day I walked out side, and in my back yard there is this rotting buck. He was super wide, had really long main beams. Any ways this hunter looked like he didn’t even attempt to ask anyone to check their land. He wasn’t even far from his property, maybe 50 yards. So I got free antlers and a skull cap.
@smaloneytuba855 жыл бұрын
In a situation like that it probably wasn’t that big of a deal, but I’m sure there are times when you’re field dressing in more visible areas. What do you do about field dressing to keep neighbors off your back? And what do you do with the gut piles?
@HuntUrban5 жыл бұрын
I'll only field dress in areas where I have plenty of cover (IE, the woods). If a property is open and I have lots of eyes on me, I'll drag the full deer out and field dress at my house. On some properties I can leave the entrails, because they're big enough to not be an issue, and there are enough foxes/coyotes/etc to make them disappear in hours. On most properties, I have to bag them up and take them with me, but it's all dependent on what exact property I'm hunting on.
@angryjohn00175 жыл бұрын
How do you hunt so close to peoples houses? Do you have to have separate approval from each land owner?
@mike05665 жыл бұрын
Is that a deer you would get mounted or would that deer be average for your area???
@HuntUrban5 жыл бұрын
He's a pretty good buck. I'd say he's definitely above-average for the area. We get some big deer (140's+), and some giants (160"+), but they're pretty rare. There is hardly any decent forage here for the deer, so they rarely get enough protien to where they get giant antlers, but we do have some big boys running around.

Nice buck! Do you normally fill all your buck tags? Also, with as many deer as you shoot, to you keep track of approximate ages from tooth wear?
@HuntUrban5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! He was a good one for sure. I normally don't fill all of my buck tags with bucks. They're either sex tags, and I normally hold out for something that is decent, unless the homeowner is having a specific problem with a buck. Eventually, buck season will pass, and I'll unfortunately have to do the mortal sin of using them on antlerless deer!! I don't keep track of tooth wear. I just harvest way too many deer to be pulling jaws. Plus, I'm more of looking for pure reduction, not age class management. Once we get the herd under control here somewhat, I'll be more selective of my harvests, but until then, it's weapons hot.

Yap...they will run to the neighbors and die right in from of God and all the neighbors watching. They take photos and videos of the deer laying dead with your arrow sticking out of it. They will then call the game warden and the warden will come out measure the rack to make sure he is legal. If the deer is legal he will tell the neighbor you can have him or do what you like with the body.
