Love your reactions to Maiden mate honestly. I’m a guitarist who plays a lot of Maiden so I’ve always been in love with the instrumental side of the band, but your videos allow me to enjoy the lyrics more too. Hands down Iron Maiden are the best band both lyrically and musically to ever Grace the earth. They deserve far more recognition and respect if that’s even possible. Yes everyone loves the old classics from the 80s and what not, but for me their best work has been post 2000 after the return of Bruce and Adrian. Steve Harris’ songwriting is just phenomenal, for me the best songwriter ever followed closely by Jim Steinman. Genius

Great tune. It’s almost three smaller pieces tied together. Leans into prog quite a bit! Janick can really write some interesting stuff! Steve’s bass really helps drive this one! That last chord is perfect! Great album! Ages like fine wine for me!

Great to see that you really enjoyed this album. It will always hold a special place in my heart. You are not the first one that had to take in a couple of songs to get used to the sound/mixing of the album, but after that you was able to feel how special this album is. Interested to see what you think about the following albums. Personally i don't think they have been able to reach this level after this album. But obviously opinions differ and there are still great songs in upcoming albums.

An amazing end to an amazing album. There’s something that is so raw with this album. The music is angry, and the lyrics are such an eye opener. There is not a bad song on this album. This album holds a special place in my heart cause it’s actually the first album I bought when I was about 13. This song itself is so powerful. Looking forward to the next album!

Another contribution from Janick Gers... lyrics by Steve Harris. I always thought this was an epic album conclusion, but I never read the lyrics til now... Another Steve Harris masterpiece. 'The Legacy' is probably one of Iron Maiden's best album-closing songs, up there w/ 'Hallowed be thy name'... 'Alexander the great'... 'Fear of the dark'... 'Journeyman'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥 Testament (who opened for Iron Maiden) has a debut album 'The Legacy'... and a song called 'The Legacy' as well in the 80's. 'A matter of life & death' was a polarizing album when it came out in 2006, but it's 1 of their best from their later years. We can truly marvel at how good it is now... It even surprised the band when it debuted at #9 on the US charts, the first Iron Maiden album hit the top 10 in the US (Of course, that didn't mean much for record sales, cos why buy CD's when u can download them for free in the internet age). Steve Harris said they were very happy w/ the record and decided to play the entire album on tour in 2006/'07, and I was at that tour in Chicago - my first Iron Maiden concert w/ Bullet for my Valentine opening in an arena, which was near sold-out. Judas Priest were also enjoying a career resurgence after Rob Halford reunited w/ the band in 2004 and they also saw their albums reach the US top 10 for the first time in their career.

Agree with you that lyrically it’s great - lyrically it’s arguably their heaviest record to this point. Watching your reactions with lyric videos has helped me appreciate the album more. I usually don’t come back to this album a lot because while solid and mature, I find it doesn’t have a lot of hooky choruses that linger in your mind after the fact. Absolutely agree it's up there with the pre-blaze albums. Best out of the reunion lineup albums followed closely by Senjutsu, in my opinion. Book of Souls is great, I think it has their best song of all the reunion lineup albums (also one of their best songs ever) and would be top three if there weren't a few filler tracks on it, so personally Book of Souls falls fourth after Brave New World, then The Final Frontier, with Dance of Death as my least favourite. Just in rank, I love all their albums. Seen them four times over the years and the two best shows were The Early Days Tour with only songs from the first four albums, Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind, at Hammersmith Apollo, and the other was this album's tour when they were playing the whole album, at Earls Court. Every bit as much of a treat as the Early Days show and they blew my face off. Was freakin' awesome.

I think this album has a slow start, but ends with some great songs. For the next album, not a great fan of the opening for the first track, but some great songs. The Talisman is my favorite on the album, it helped me with leaving everything behind in the UK to come to the US and marry my wife. Granted if we had to do it again we’d probably do the opposite with her moving to the UK, but the song is a heavy reminder of the risks of traveling in bygone times.

The opening instrumental is strange and forgettable. Lotsa lyrics throughout. The Talisman is a top 5 Maiden song for me and the album's best. Have not heard this in a long, long time. One that I was not real excited to revisit. Another alright song, not in the epic category for me. I could see that people in the Scandinavian countries would get into this song, that and a few other countries outside the U.S. My favorites on the album in no particular order - Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, The Longest Day, Out of the Shadows. All in all a real good return Dickinson/Smith album on par with Dance of Death but not as good as Brave New World IMO. On to Final Frontier, where there seems to be a love/hate opinion of the album.

@@egrsok9388 ouch babe. I do appreciate the music. It's the LYRICS second half of this song that are too many. Unpoetic and sung shrilly. They must have written a bunch of lyrics, used the best ones that fit, then chose to just go ahead use what was left for the rest of the song. This occurs on the Book of Souls album also. Mostly because of such long songs I suppose but they need to edit things lyrically sometimes. Keep the best and ditch the rest. Bruce can listen along with the rest of us instead of chatter away just to be heard.
