★ UPDATE ★ Hello everyone, I wanted to share a current update as of today, Nov. 12th. First of all, THANK YOU ALL for the beautiful responses and comments! I have cried so many times reading your heartfelt words, each one filling my heart beyond measure. My deepest hope was that this video could somehow convey my love for this land and, most of all, my genuine care for each and every one of YOU. In a world divided and hurting over so much, this message is not easy to get across. So thank you for your love, support, kindness, and encouragement-it really means everything! 🤗 On another note, I’ve been working on a Part 2 to this video. There is, unfortunately, a lot surrounding this tragic event that is not right. It’s also multi-layered, so I’m taking careful time to research everything, focusing only on firsthand information-no speculation, theories, gossip, or conjecture. I’m listening to those who live here and to anyone with boots on the ground helping. There is a LOT to unpack. I’m doing my best to stay unbiased (although it’s VERY hard), and to let integrity and truth guide me. 🙏 Having been through 9/11 firsthand, I know how difficult it is when what you witness doesn’t match up with what’s being told to the world. It’s challenging not to think the worst, but I promise that my goal is to present this information from a place of respect and accuracy. My emotions run deep-as you can see in the first video, my connection to this land and her people is strong. This nature and my neighbors are family to me, and I want nothing more than to help and protect them. ♡ Yesterday, I had a computer malfunction and lost my work. I’m trying to recover it, but it’s not looking good. The irony is (from my experience and from what other creators have shared) that for whatever reason, unexplained setbacks often happen when working on matters of truth. But after a good cry, I started again because I won’t let anything this important go unfinished. So please hang in there-Part 2 might take a bit longer, but it’s coming, and I hope you’ll continue to join me in supporting all the beautiful folks who need it and deserve it. ★ And if you or anyone you know wishes to share info or to be heard on these matters, by all means please send me a message and I am more than happy to give you a voice! Thank you all for your time, patience, kindness, and for being so incredible! May you all be blessed in all that you do! Always in love, Tania 🕊💚

@@lgstudios777 your video absolutely conveyed love and authenticity. It’s what made it so perfect. I know well the love of the hills, the animals, the changing seasons, the water. All of it. I know well the heart of Appalachia. You covered it so well. I cannot imagine what there is to unpack, I cannot imagine what everyone wakes up to. And it is relentless. I’ve been through small floods (I am in WV) and some bigger floods but nothing of this scope. Nothing of this makes sense. I was in Thomas WV the other day (a higher elevation) and I kept thinking there is no way, no way in the world someone would expect - much less prepare - for a hurricane. The very idea is (still) preposterous but the possibility of it evokes an indescribable feeling. I know what normal flood water does. I worry about the lingering trauma of this. I know people coming in, is helping to sooth fried nervous systems. I know the outside world sending love is soothing, the wild generosity is affirming. People looking on and acknowledging the scope of this has to help. Having community will help. You know more than most how important community is. Did you know a horse has a ‘field’ that is quite soothing and extends far beyond their body? It’s been measured. I keep thinking about the mules there and how they must help. Maybe some protection of your work will help. Prayer, whatever you do but a deliberate asking for protection. I really want to see what you’re going to do next, so please don’t stop. Go sniff a horse, or a mule, and come back to it. Keep yourself safe, take care of your nervous system. Many of us are looking forward to seeing your truth, your way of presenting it. You’re it, my friend, and you guys are always on my mind. This is true for so many.

@@cswhipkey THANK YOU SO MUCH for this deeply thoughtful and loving message-it moved me to tears and truly felt like a virtual HUG! 🤗 Your words beautifully capture the love, connection, and awe we feel for these mountains, and your understanding brings so much comfort! And YES the horses.. ahh, that made me so VERY HAPPY that you mentioned them. And what a timely and divine reminder for me! There is actually a place about 7 mins from my house that has a bunch of horses they use for therapy!! Folks with disabilities, mental or physical, of all ages go there as well lots of Vets and others with PTSD to spend time with the horses. They are truly majestic beings who offer so much healing! I will go there and get myself a hug and a sniff, Thank You for mentioning this because I wasn’t even thinking of them.!! Their quiet, grounding presence is exactly what I need right now. I had a beautiful quarter horse when I was a teenager in Texas, he was the sweetest giant who thought he was a dog! (: And that ‘field' you mentioned IS so powerful.. Our hearts do exactly the same thing! Whenever I hug someone, I always lean to the my right so that our hearts touch. ♡ I’m grateful beyond measure for your encouragement and gentle reminder to keep my own spirit cared for as we push forward. This is usually what I tell everyone else, so it’s quite nice to hear it myself! I also know first hand, because of the events on 9/11, the intense impact of trauma on nervous system. The sights and smells of Helene have triggered me in ways I haven’t known since 2001. I worry for everyone here, I know they are in need of tremendous love and mental health support. I personally feel the entire world has PTSD, since 2020 and covid, that has never really been addressed on a collective or individual level. The human body is AMAZING, but it was never meant to endure such horrible and continued traumas. I joke that if I was rich I’d be poor because I wish I could do something like take horses to everyone.. and to just sit with them, feed them yummy foods, tell them they are LOVED and give them heart-to-heart hugs. 🤗 It’s the support from people like you-who see, who care, who understand the healing power of community-it’s EVERYTHING right now. Knowing we have friends nearby and across the world who hold us in their hearts, sending strength and healing, truly lifts us up. I’ll take your advice to heart, look to the animals for calm, and keep pressing on to honor this place and its incredible people. And definitely prayers of protection, guidance and strength will now be part of my daily practice! Thank you for holding space for us and for sharing your warmth. I appreciate YOU and your message so very much!! Bless You! Sending so much Love to you and yours!! ♡

I am in North Carolina right now helping to rebuild the bridges and the roads that are washed away. Everything she shown here is real and it's much more horrific in person. I drive a truck and I've been hauling rock all over Hendersonville bat cave and down to chimney Rock and the more I do it seems like the more there is to do. I came with a group from Gainesville Georgia. This is my job but I'm going to be staying up here indefinitely. Maybe even a year. We have been working 7 days a week almost every week to get this done along with the DOT workers and linemen and everyone helping with this disaster. Prayers still needed!

Years ago my husband and I discovered the Blue Ridge Mountains and immediately fell in love. We visited each year, usually in October but sometimes in the summer. We promised it would be our retirement home. That never happened but in the spring of 2020, in a whim, I moved to Asheville. I stayed until September 2023 subsequently moving back to Florida to be near my family. It is tragic that most did not receive the warnings. Here in Florida as we rode out the storm, my cell phone constantly pinged with warnings for NC. Thankfully my many friends in NC survived Helene but are dismayed by devastation surrounding them. Thank you Tania for your exquisite film and thoughtful narration. I know there is frustration, sorrow, anger, fatigue and grief in those beautiful hills. My wish is for hope and joy to replace those as the mountains reclaim their beauty.

@joanraymond1851 What a beautiful journey you’ve had with the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s easy to see how they capture the heart and soul of anyone who visits. While your time living in Asheville was shorter than you may have dreamed, I hope those years gave you cherished memories to carry with you. Family is such a precious gift, and it’s heartwarming to know you’ve returned to be close to them. Thank You for sharing your story, it’s a lovely reminder of how deeply these mountains touch all of us. Sending love and blessings your way! ♡

Wow! Your video needs to be placed in the National Archives. It's that good. Your narration is beautiful. We live here and can attest to all of this. I'm crying as I watch your video. I just subscribed. Your work is spectacular. I pray you have found peace in your journey. Our mountains will never be the same. We are deeply saddened by this Hurricane of a thousand years. We've lived through many hurricanes, from Andrew, Ivan, Katrina, etc. I must say, Helene was by far the worst. It impacted 25 counties and 1.25 plus million lives. The death toll is still being counted. The loss of lives doesn't even include those missing. I could go on about so many losses. I will say that having lived through all of this and still living it, my belief in humanity and mankind has been overwhelmed. We've enjoyed helping others and have enjoyed seeing so many people assisting one another. Neighbor helping neighbor. Prayers and blessings. 🙏

@boonedog1457 Wow, your words have left me speechless and brought tears to my eyes. Thank You from the depths of my heart for such a humbling and overwhelming expression of support. I am so deeply moved that my video resonated with you in this way. I made it with pure love, straight from my heart, and if there is any way you could FEEL that, then I am beyond happy!!. I felt so helpless after Helene, wishing I could hold and comfort each person touched by the horrors of this storm. This video became my way to extend that love, to offer a BIG HUG to all of you, and to honor the incredible strength of our community. Thank you for sharing your own experiences and for being a part of the beauty and resilience that define these mountains and her people. Neighbor helping neighbor, heart reaching heart-it’s what makes this region so extraordinary. The only way we can get through this is together. The road ahead may be long, but I truly believe there’s a bright light on our horizon, even if it feels out of reach right now. Unity will guide us there, and that is certainly something the entire world could use more of! Sending you so much love and gratitude, and a BIG HUG!.🤗♡🤗

i'm in eastern KY in central Appalachia here. absolutely devastated for y'all and east TN. absolutely heart broken. Appalachia is so beautiful, there's no other place like it in the US. i love that i got to grow up here, see all the beauty. catch lightnin bugs in jars. smell the burley tobacco drying in my granny's barn. hear the horses neighing and cows lowing, hear the cicadas humming, smell the honeysuckle and freshly tilled earth before planting. the leaves changing in the fall. rolling hills and endless fields of green. thick woods and steep mountains. tiny micro communities tucked up in the hollers. country darkness. the stillness and peace of this place. the safety and serenity. the comfort of it. the sense of belonging, of "home" that you can't quite put your finger on. and the people of course. the culture, the history. it's an amazing place. i wish yall the best and hope you can find a way to keep going

@lgstudios777 It's clear to me that you too feel our mountains and have an emotional and spiritual connection. We've hiked for many years in our Appalachian Mountains, and other mountain ranges, in many states, but none have spoken to us like these mountains. We too were called home years ago to move here. We've hiked over 18,000 miles, with many of them right here in Appalachia. I guess you could say, we too are spiritually connected to these mountains and the people. We've touched the earth with our souls, our prayers, our heart and have even felt the dirt underneath our fingernails and rocks in our hiking boots. We've breathed in the life of these mountains and have tasted their fruits. Your video provides deep insight to what took place here, so others may feel it. It's a message that needs to be felt and expressed. The beauty of your poetry and eloquence in words and expressions reflect heartfelt truths. This message needs to be shared worldwide, so it is not forgotten. We must connect people to this land. Your message is that invitation for the world to join us in prayer for a time of healing of the land and its people. Thank you my dear sister. 🙏 SHALOM

@boonedog1457 This is so beautiful, your words have touched me so deeply, dear friend. 🤗Thank You!! It’s a profound comfort to know that others share this soul-deep connection to our beloved Appalachia and her people. Your description of hiking over 18,000 miles and being so intimately tied to this land resonates with my own feelings, it’s really as though these mountains breathe with us, hold us, and guide us. (BTW 18k miles is sooo amazingly awesome and inspiring! I bet y'all have some wonderful stories!) One of the many layers of heartbreak throughout all of this for me, was the loss of so many trees. I'm making a little video just for them as well. I mention this to you because I 'feel' you would get that. 🌲♡ Thank You for your kind reflection on my video and poetry. It humbles me to know it spoke to your heart and captured even a fraction of the immense beauty and spirit of this place. Your encouragement strengthens my resolve to share this message far and wide, so we can inspire unity, prayer, and healing together. I truly believe the only way forward, in all things, IS together! I've called The Blue Ridge Mountains home for over 60 years & if I have my say I won't leave them until God calls me home for these mountains are all I've known. Unless you have lived here it's hard to explain just how beautiful they really are. I want to thank ALL those who have come from so many places to help for you will always hold a special place in our hearts. An unselfish love from the Amish for if anyone can build things and come together it is them, simple, quiet, hardworking, self-sustaining, and loving people they are and they have brought that to WNC. This is such a true and reflective account. Unless you have lived through something like this, it's impossible to express how being in the middle of it feels. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and called downtown New York City home, when 911 happened. Life there changed in an instant. Having seen the twin towers built, the thought of their destruction was unimaginable... The images of them crumbling to the ground impossible, even as one witnessed it happening. 911 was very personal for me. The sheer expanse of this catastrophic event is so much different, in terms of the destruction of these beautiful towns and surrounding mountains. You have done great justice to honor this experience by describing how differently this storm affected us depending on where we lived and what the topography of the moutains in relationship to the towns at thier feet. The force of water and speed of destruction was unfathomable, not expected. So unreal. For those watching, listen through... we all need to be prepared... thank you Tonya... After 911 and the shift of culture there led me to move to Florida and 3 years later, here. I came here to these moutains, because they called me also. The loss of the beauty around me has also been personal but I can only imagine what people must feel who have lived here for generations. Thier is hope that has come from this destruction. There is deep grief also, but this place will come back stronger because the heart of Apallachia is incredible and strong. Thank you for giving this experience a voice. Wonderful work.

@jodesa53 Thank you so much for sharing this; we truly have a lot in common! I’m very fond of Brooklyn. I lived in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. Then later on, in Lower Manhattan, just a few blocks from the WTC on Gold Street. I was at ground zero, and to this day, I can still recall the overwhelming sights and smells. As hard as that was, the scale of what Helene has done here is just staggering! I too moved to Florida after NYC to try and heal. And then these mountains called and I finally found my home. I share your hope that this devastation won’t be in vain. There are so many layers of issues right now that need addressing, and my hope is that this can serve as a catalyst for much-needed change. I know that I, and so many others, are devoted to ensuring that happens. 9/11, too, was a wake-up call in many ways, and I hope one day complete transparency will finally be clear to everyone. We’re in times of immense change, with people waking up every day to the realities around us, and though it’s sometimes birthed through hardship, this is how growth and change happens. Thank you again for your kind words and for connecting with the video. Sending much love and strength to you and yours. ♡

This is by far the most poignant and beautiful thing like this that I’ve seen since this horror came upon us here in WNC. It’s really true that anyone who hasn’t lived through this couldn’t ever really comprehend what happened or what it’s done, no matter how many videos they watch or news reports they see, but this one surely comes the closest. Many thanks to the thoughtful, beautiful and brilliant woman who made it. ❤️

Thank you. That was so beautifully done, in such devastating times. My family is from those mountains, though I've lived up north. I came down from far SW, Virginia - just "up the road" 2 hours; with supplies a few times now. And plan to keep coming. I feel my heart lies here. Folks who haven't seen it - really have no idea. But for all my scouring the internet, I'd say you have done one of the best jobs of telling the tale. I pray you all can stay grounded in the hope that you are not alone, and not forgotten. Peace & Love, Lauren

Your visits with supplies and support mean the world, truly. And you're right, unless you’ve seen it with your own eyes, it’s hard to grasp the scale of loss and resilience here. Absolutely beautiful, I am a FL Gulf coast native, Sarasota to be exact, it has been the worst hurricane season of my 42 years and my heart shattered for you guys up there this year. I have family in Asheville, my uncle just died and no one was able to be there besides his wife and daughter who live on the same property. My grandparents lived in Hiawassee and we lived in Winston-Salem for about a year, so I have been going up to the region since I was old enough to walk and started bringing my daughter there when she was five. We spent this last vacation on the quiet side of the Smokies in Townsend, Tennessee. Having just driven through so many of these places, it is hard to imagine the devastation but you are absolutely right that people need to know and this is the only way for people to know. You did a wonderful job and it was a beautiful poem. All my love and prayers. 💜🙏

@samflower31 Thank you so much for sharing this with me, and BIG HUGS to you! 🤗Sarasota holds a very special place in my heart too. I spent a lot of my life there, visiting my grandmother every summer, and later moving there from NYC after 9/11 to try to heal. Siesta Key, Lido, Longboat, and the Ringling Estate- are all like treasures to me! Watching videos of the destruction from Milton was beyond heartbreaking. I watched a guy who posted a video not long after Milton, that lived in Siesta, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. To think that y’all barely had a moment to breathe after Helene before being hit again… it’s just too much. I'm so sorry you’ve had to endure that! I'm sure I feel exactly as you do about those beaches-the white sands of Siesta have forever spoiled me from liking any other beach in the US that I’ve been too! I can’t tell you how much your kind words mean, and I’m so sorry to hear about your uncle. It must be so hard knowing family couldn’t be there to say goodbye properly. This shared pain from all of us who know and love these beautiful places feels very healing, like a family spread across so many miles. Thank you again for connecting, sharing your story, and sending so much love and prayers our way. 🙏 It truly means the world to us! Sending so much Love to you and your family!! ♡

Tanya, this is the most beautiful video, a creation and labor of love, for sure. Thank you for all your courage, for sharing something so incredibly vulnerable and personal and working to help the people of WNC with your vision. I watch Ryan Hall, love his honesty and expertise… My brother lives in Waynesville, I live in Taos, and I was there to pick up my new van that he so lovingly converted for me to camp and travel in. We narrowly escaped the hurricane, as it had begun to rain and we left Thursday night before the hurricane devastated WNC and other states. I was in RAD the day before, loving the art galleries and the beauty and watching as the weather looked to impact us. People said they were warning of 6-14 feet of water, and they were moving art, some were really scared…and it turned out to be much worse… tragic… We made it to Arkansas before we left the rain behind, having driven all night.. arriving in Texas to be with Family and we’re broken hearted and shattered for Appalachia and it’s people. Our sister in Ohio was hit by harsh winds taking down power lines and transformer in her neighborhood of Columbus. It reached far and wide. Back in Taos, you are still with me and I can only spread the word and know that no matter where we are on our Mother Earth, we are all susceptible to the power of the elements in their extreme forms. And remember Love and to help when we are able. Thank you for your beautiful work. Blessings💗

You have a precious, sweet soul, Tania. Thank you for this labor of love, and for your beautiful poem. My husband and I cried watching and listening to this. Sending you our very best wishes that you continue on this journey. You have found your heart's calling!! You have an amazing gift of communicating!! May I please add that in the small towns, such as Spruce Pine, that were practically destroyed, we need people from all over the U.S. to come and help us!! Many have come, but our fear is that as time passes, we will be forgotten. The weather is getting colder, families are sleeping on the ground in tents. We need people who are skilled in carpentry, electrical and plumbing, roofing, sheet rock, etc. We also need volunteers to serve food and volunteer at relief centers who are distributing food and clothes. The emotional pain runs deep. Many are grieving. Grief counselors are needed. Tania, so sorry about your computer malfunction! Be of good cheer and continue to get the word out and share your gift with the world.

@Beverly-xz2xh THANK YOU so much for your kind and heartfelt words. You have absolutely touched my heart! BIG HUGS to you both!! 🤗 I really appreciate your support and encouragement! It brings me to tears to think of families out there in the cold, still grieving and in need of basic comforts we so often take for granted. I was thinking of this today, as it’s now getting so cold at night, and especially in the higher elevations. I don’t think most folks realize the severity of having a perfectly fine life and home one day, and then loosing absolutely everything the next. The lack of serious help is not ok. And the mental health aspect is heartbreaking as well. So many people are extremely traumatized and still in a state of shock. Thank you for sharing the reality of what our small towns are facing; your words are a vital reminder of what’s still needed. I’ll keep doing everything I can to spread this message far and wide. I don’t want anyone to be forgotten, not ever! I’m hopeful that, with enough awareness, more volunteers and skilled hands will come to stand with us and help rebuild. I know some of the smaller towns are being neglected and not receiving the help they desperately need and deserve. I will continue saying extra prayers for y’all. I will also make a point of bringing attention to this in my next video. Thank You again for your encouragement and for caring so deeply. Please keep hope in your heart and know that together we will keep each other strong and well loved. Sending you and your husband much love, strength and hugs!! 🤗♡

I was on that Live and was one of few that asked in CAPS What about Southern Appalachia?! With similar life experience, I went to bed at land fall in hopes to rest before waking up to endure impact. The shock that overcame my soul when I learned the storm had turned eastward, words cannot express. Instead of gearing up to endure our towns impact, my community watched the flooding unfold an hour east. Unable to respond, waiting eagerly to act once the waters receded. My heart and soul are with you and the communities that have suffered such loss. We are here working and supporting you in the best ways we can. As long as we can. This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for this and I am anticipating your part 2. I have lived here nearly 20 yrs (job move) and as the population kept growing unbelievably, I have thought about moving away. But your comments about the beauty and awe of WNC, Buncombe County and into my neighborhoods in NAville and now Whoville.....I can't think where else I would be so happy. I am sending your video to people I know who have been reaching out worldwide and keeping up the messages so that we in WNC do not disappear from the news as we work so hard to heal and repair.

@Paulavw66 What a beautiful and heartfelt comment, Thank You so much for sharing this with me! It means the world to know that my video resonated with you and that you're sharing it to help keep the spotlight on WNC during this challenging time. We absolutely need to make sure we don't disappear from the news-there is still SO MUCH help needed. This morning, I woke to the sight of snowflakes and could only think of those living in tents, trying to endure these brutal winds and freezing temperatures we've had over the past few days. It's truly heartbreaking! It's also important for people outside this region to understand that this isn't just our problem, it affects us all. What happened here can happen anywhere, to anyone, and I hope that reality resonates deeply with everyone. I completely understand how the growth in this region can feel overwhelming at times! I moved to Transylvania county to escape that, but every time I'm in traffic, I know the jokes on me lol. But honestly, there truly is no place like it. The natural beauty, the vibrant communities, and the deep-rooted sense of connection here are unlike anywhere else. It sounds like these mountains have captured your heart as they have mine, and I hope they continue to bring you joy and peace! Thank you for your kindness, for spreading awareness, and for being part of the healing process. TOGETHER, we CAN keep the spirit of WNC strong and ensure it remains the extraordinary place we all love. Sending you love, gratitude, and BIG hugs! 🤗♡

The English language doesn't contain the correct terminology to accurately describe what we see, and what we lived through. For a week I had no power, internet, phone, or cellphone. On the 3rd day a helicopter flew over my home, looked for about a minute, and just left. I found out several people had contacted the Red Cross, even as far away as Nepal, saying they had not heard from me since the storm. I was fine but had no way to tell anyone. My father knew I was okay but he didn't have the ability to tell anyone either. People half way across the world knew more about what had happened than those living here did. If I wanted information I had to go to my car and listen to the radio. Only then did I find out over 70 people in Buncombe County had died, with many more still missing. It was horrific what happened here. None of us expected or was prepared for it.

Well done. An area not mentioned was Lake Lure and Bat Cave. They were essentially wiped off the map. I fished the Rocky Broad river as both a child and an adult. When Hugo rolled in in September 1989, I saw where parts of the mountain slid off into the river. Roads were intact after Hugo. Hellene's destruction was hundreds times worse. Most say a Thousand Year storm, it was mare like a biblical weather event. The power of moving water is real. There is an old saying, "never turn your back to the ocean." It should be said to "always kepp your eyes on the river." That Friday afternoon i was at work. There is a camera on the dam on the Broad River at the power plant. Water was above the catwalk above the gates on the dam. I later saw footage where the catwalk was totally under water. You could only hope and pray that people were safe. I didnt pay attention to weather reports, but now we do. We have begun to make preps for weather events. God bless and dont forget. Pleas help out a neighbor even if they might be a thousand miles away.

@jamesupton143 I couldn’t agree more-Lake Lure, Bat Cave, and Chimney Rock have truly suffered beyond words. The scale of loss there is staggering, and every story feels like a piece of our heart breaking all over again. I have friends in Bat Cave and Chimney Rock who lost everything. And my poor mailman lived in Lake Lure with his wife and 8 kids, they lost everything! Hearing about your memories of fishing the Rocky Broad River brings home just how much history and connection have been washed away. Your reminder to keep our eyes on the rivers is so powerful-these waterways, so much a part of our lives, showed their might in a way none of us could have imagined. Your words resonate deeply, and your advice to help neighbors, near or far, is a beautiful call to action! Thank you for sharing your memories and reflections. Sending love and strength your way, and may we all hold onto that spirit of community as we rebuild. God bless and much Love to you and yours!! ♡
