As someone who helped found several non-profits, since the floods in Louisiana, back in 2016, including an organization and system that rescued over 3500 people, during Hurricane Harvey, I can assure you, Cody, it's worse than you think. The government is completely inept at dealing with natural disasters, unless it has to do with arresting anyone trying to help. They do this because they receive millions in taxpayer funding and volunteer organizations threaten to show everyone how useless they are.
@southlouisianapatriots94003 ай бұрын
and no, I don't mean the Red Cross, another inept organization, in my opinion, as a "volunteer organization." During one of the hurricanes that hit the Carolinas, a couple years ago, they were feeding people chicken nuggets and a slice of bologna, while we handed out close to 10,000 hot meals.

@andrewh50873 ай бұрын
Thanks for this video. My family and I live in Western NC. It’s true that we’ve been hit hard! In this area we are used to winter storms, but not flooding of this magnitude. It had been raining here for about a week before storm hit which made things much worse. On my road we were trapped for the first 3 days. Could not get out. We had to make it on what was in house. Our home only suffered minor flooding in basement but others around me lost their house. Many roads just gone. Some had rivers running through them. Many lives lost. I’ve been a “prepper” since the first power outage we went through. It was a blizzard when I was 12. To me it’s not prepping it’s a way of life. We know the power will go out question is when. This is what I’ve seen. Beyond the destruction, our community has come together. After shelter, water and food I would highly recommend getting to know your neighbors. Team work is critical! Having people around that you trust is vital. Plan on sharing supplies and physical labor. You’ll appreciate the return. Having good generator has been great! Worth the investment. We have no idea when power will come back on. Poles and lines down on roads that can’t be traveled on. Almost 1 week in. I’ve started to focus on day now and not just next hour. If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that this would happen I would not have believed it. My advice is to start preparing if you have not. Creators like this channel give good advice. It does come in handy especially if you listen before disaster. Keep us in your prayers. The Lord is helping us!

All of our help has been from friends, neighbors, family members, and local churches. Those who have waited on the government to safe them are still waiting. I live in Henderson County NC, 3 miles from Chimney Rock. It’s bad, really bad. No shortage of fuel, but no electricity to pump gas. Thankfully we’re on high ground. Based on past natural events, and the stupidity of 2020, we decided to be prepared. I actually feel guilty for the comfort we are enjoying even without electricity while others are suffering. All from being prepared. Supplies are rolling in and available to those who can get to them but because of destruction to infrastructure, many are totally cut off. About the government… First kudos to the National Guard. They flew in tons of supplies with C-130’s and have flown choppers constantly to drop supplies and airlift people. Outside of that, most local government is mostly getting in the way. They’re trying to “Take charge” and control supplies, distribution, they’ve tried to order makeshift neighborhood shelters shut down. They’ve turned away supplies and tried to make private individuals who have spent their own funds to bring supplies, turn their supplies over to the county. Neighbors have pulled together, churches are feeding people and distributing supplies, cooking meals, private convoys are rolling in, there’s an army of power companies here from as far away as Nebraska and Ontario. Most of the rural mountain folks can handle a lot and they will pull together and could get things done if the government would get out of the way. (Southern) East coast man is tough & we’ll pull together and get through this. People, prepare. Have a months worth of non-perishable food, Coleman stove & fuel, stored water or means of getting water. Don’t rely on municipal water, most plants went down or were destroyed & those that did come back on line have boil advisories which is difficult without electricity. You MUST have water. And for goodness sakes get a generator. Mine is dual fuel meaning it will run on propane or gasoline. Batteries and lights..in multiples. Room lanterns, leds are bright and easy on batteries. Flashlights including small pocket penlights. Headlamps free up your hands. And yes, a good chainsaw and all necessities. Learn how to use it safely. USFS sometimes has training classes. The locals had most roads clears of trees out here in the country before the first county emergency vehicles even rolled out. It’s bad here, many are missing and many have lost everything. Many are still cut off and without any provisions. People have actually appealed for topo maps to fine alter ways in to place and are hiking in. They’ve even brought in mules to go in where even 4 wheelers can’t go. Cody isn’t exaggerating, they say this a Is a 1000 year event. We had several inches of rain immediately preceding this so stream and rivers were full and the ground was saturated. Then got 24-36”. Think about that, two - three feet of rain in steep mountain terrain in less than 24 hours. Any structure, road, or bridge in low lying areas was damaged, destroyed, or totally obliterated.
