As someone who helped found several non-profits, since the floods in Louisiana, back in 2016, including an organization and system that rescued over 3500 people, during Hurricane Harvey, I can assure you, Cody, it's worse than you think. The government is completely inept at dealing with natural disasters, unless it has to do with arresting anyone trying to help. They do this because they receive millions in taxpayer funding and volunteer organizations threaten to show everyone how useless they are.

and no, I don't mean the Red Cross, another inept organization, in my opinion, as a "volunteer organization." During one of the hurricanes that hit the Carolinas, a couple years ago, they were feeding people chicken nuggets and a slice of bologna, while we handed out close to 10,000 hot meals.

Thanks for this video. My family and I live in Western NC. It’s true that we’ve been hit hard! In this area we are used to winter storms, but not flooding of this magnitude. It had been raining here for about a week before storm hit which made things much worse. On my road we were trapped for the first 3 days. Could not get out. We had to make it on what was in house. Our home only suffered minor flooding in basement but others around me lost their house. Many roads just gone. Some had rivers running through them. Many lives lost. I’ve been a “prepper” since the first power outage we went through. It was a blizzard when I was 12. To me it’s not prepping it’s a way of life. We know the power will go out question is when. This is what I’ve seen. Beyond the destruction, our community has come together. After shelter, water and food I would highly recommend getting to know your neighbors. Team work is critical! Having people around that you trust is vital. Plan on sharing supplies and physical labor. You’ll appreciate the return. Having good generator has been great! Worth the investment. We have no idea when power will come back on. Poles and lines down on roads that can’t be traveled on. Almost 1 week in. I’ve started to focus on day now and not just next hour. If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that this would happen I would not have believed it. My advice is to start preparing if you have not. Creators like this channel give good advice. It does come in handy especially if you listen before disaster. Keep us in your prayers. The Lord is helping us!

I’m in Hendersonville, NC. I’ve owned a sawmill for 11 years and I’ve spent more time behind a chainsaw in the last few days then I have in the last 5 years combined. The destruction is crazy, luckily I had family in VA and they sent me in a who mess of chains, mix and bar oil, and tarps for peoples roofs. Be careful who you send donations to, there are a lot of people taking advantage of the situation My ecoflow has saved me. I run my gas generator when I’m home and use it to charge my ecoflow. I run my ecoflow at night so I can lock down the garage and not risk it getting stolen. We could really use some radios to keep in touch w the rest of the neighbors.

I saw two FEMA people driving around in a neon green EV and they were walking around talking to people wearing dress clothes and dress shoes afraid to get them dirty. That's it. That's what they are considering "assistance". National Guard is nowhere to be found in this part of the state.

Also take in to account for the water your livestock needs A am fm radio will keep you from loosing sanity . It took us 3 days to cut our way out .we burnt through about 3 gallons of mixed gas . We used about 2.5 gallons of gas a day in generator. Butane for a stove is a great need . At that time much of the water was back in service and the stores were back open. I ran into a young mother on Sunday that I mentioned the devastation on the east coast from the horrific hurricane & the biochem lab explosion in Georgia & Verizon having major outages & the east coast dock workers going on strike... and she had absolutely no clue what I was talking about! She said nothing came up on any of her social media feeds, or in between tv programs, and nobody in her immediate family knew either she was certain. She felt ill learning about everything that was happening and upset she was only learning of it week after it all started. What in the world is going on, how can anybody in our own country over the age of 12 be completely oblivious to what has & is happening. All of our help has been from friends, neighbors, family members, and local churches. Those who have waited on the government to safe them are still waiting. I hope this was a wake up call to those voting to give more power to the government rather than more power to the people and local churches. I live in Henderson County NC, 3 miles from Chimney Rock. It’s bad, really bad. No shortage of fuel, but no electricity to pump gas. Thankfully we’re on high ground. Based on past natural events, and the stupidity of 2020, we decided to be prepared. I actually feel guilty for the comfort we are enjoying even without electricity while others are suffering. All from being prepared. Supplies are rolling in and available to those who can get to them but because of destruction to infrastructure, many are totally cut off. About the government… First kudos to the National Guard. They flew in tons of supplies with C-130’s and have flown choppers constantly to drop supplies and airlift people. Outside of that, most local government is mostly getting in the way. They’re trying to “Take charge” and control supplies, distribution, they’ve tried to order makeshift neighborhood shelters shut down. They’ve turned away supplies and tried to make private individuals who have spent their own funds to bring supplies, turn their supplies over to the county. Neighbors have pulled together, churches are feeding people and distributing supplies, cooking meals, private convoys are rolling in, there’s an army of power companies here from as far away as Nebraska and Ontario. Most of the rural mountain folks can handle a lot and they will pull together and could get things done if the government would get out of the way. (Southern) East coast man is tough & we’ll pull together and get through this. People, prepare. Have a months worth of non-perishable food, Coleman stove & fuel, stored water or means of getting water. Don’t rely on municipal water, most plants went down or were destroyed & those that did come back on line have boil advisories which is difficult without electricity. You MUST have water. And for goodness sakes get a generator. Mine is dual fuel meaning it will run on propane or gasoline. Batteries and lights..in multiples. Room lanterns, leds are bright and easy on batteries. Flashlights including small pocket penlights. Headlamps free up your hands. And yes, a good chainsaw and all necessities. Learn how to use it safely. USFS sometimes has training classes. The locals had most roads clears of trees out here in the country before the first county emergency vehicles even rolled out. It’s bad here, many are missing and many have lost everything. Many are still cut off and without any provisions. People have actually appealed for topo maps to fine alter ways in to place and are hiking in. They’ve even brought in mules to go in where even 4 wheelers can’t go. Cody isn’t exaggerating, they say this a Is a 1000 year event. We had several inches of rain immediately preceding this so stream and rivers were full and the ground was saturated. Then got 24-36”. Think about that, two - three feet of rain in steep mountain terrain in less than 24 hours. Any structure, road, or bridge in low lying areas was damaged, destroyed, or totally obliterated.

Thank you for your reality based report on the situation. We live in colorado, we have sent $$, it's all we can do from here, A shame about the local gov strutting its feathers.

@@sarcasticcrypto Most incidents I’ve heard of are just the occasional low level bureaucrat trying to throw his weight around. Overall local residents, churches and private individuals are getting it done. The power companies/linemen are awesome.

They are actively preventing help from coming in. Remember, Govts are monopolies and do not tolerate competition. SO even if they weren't hostile they would still actively prevent private aid.

I was in McDowell, watauga, Caldwell, and Burke counties on Wednesday when the storm was just starting and roads were already starting to wash away. The people in the rest of NC are doing everything we can to assist the people in the mountains and so far, the state government seems to mostly be getting in the way.

I worked a part time job at a Hardware store in the NE that was a chainsaw repair and supply shop also. During COVID we saw a shortage of chain in the common sizes, so we bought chain on the rolls and made it to order custom for the loggers who were in need of chain. Most common issue with storm blow down trees is homeowners with little tree cutting skill going after trees with tension and binding the bar and chain making them useless.

Ukraine is a reasonable expense, but much of our foreign aid is wasteful & corrupt, helping unfriendly slimy countries. We need to demand better of Gov with more accountability. Some Americans are gross short sighted trash, often the type that would cheer on the Kremlin or belittle Ukraine, or simply waste focus on knuckle dragging priorities, be bad neighbors... But fellow citizens should be priority by default.

I went through two hurricanes and two Nor'easter and I know you are your own for more time than you like. Being prepared is essential and taking the situation in your own hands until help arrives is imperative. I was much younger when I went through that. Now at 80 with health issues it freaks me out a bit, so make sure to love your neighbors, they are your only hope

To make matters worse, many residents in places like North Carolina and Georgia won't even get to vote to end this corrupt regime due to the flooding.

The Biden regime is so corrupt while President he has taken in over $3 million from China, an undisclosed amount from Egypt, his son in law received $2 billion from Saudi Arabia, and his daughter secured the rights to sell merchandise in China (notoriously difficult to do.) Oh shht, my bad, it was Trump that did those things.

You know if this happened in California or New York they would delay the election. If Republicans say anything, the democrats will melt down.

Vote how you need but educate yourself on these issues first before you decide who is the corrupt regime impacting it. Republicans including in hurricane areas repeatedly vote to reduce FEMA funding. Last week Republicans removed additional FEMA funding from a bill, forcing Biden to put in an emergency request for additional disaster relief. Everything the governors requested has been approved so far, and 7000 troops were mobilized, many before the hurricane hit landfall. We should still do more but this is the most prepared natural disaster response in the 21st century.

This is a catastrophe for Harris, though. I live in WNC. Asheville was a critical electorate for the democrats. It was a vital democratic voting bloc in a major swing state. Biden may have destroyed them.
