@@weeepsalotts723 it depends on the situation. If the people who had been hit worst were properly & adequately taken care of, rather than left to die then that would be different. The problem is, every single person in this situation wants to be treated the same, even if their specific situations & losses were entirely different, day & night. Tragedy's are just a part of life & they're painful, at times heartbreaking, stressful & sometimes expensive. While some are similar, not every single personal tragedy can be lined up next to the other one & called equal & demanded to be treated as equal. The people who have access to having their basic needs met, even if a frustratingly long drive is required, still have access to basic needs met & hopefully those situations will improve, but they need to get off their soapboxes. Their losses were not equal or comparable to those who lost absolutely everything, loved ones, houses, homes & possessions. The powers that be were hell bent on letting this one woman's husband die alone, after she was rescued, even though there was a pilot willing to rescue him. That right there is the devil at work in our world. They are together now because someone broke the rules, but sometimes rules need to be broken. Did your husband or children die?
@SarahMarie-j2n2 ай бұрын
@@weeepsalotts723 you are correct, it does not mean they are not awful or valid, (I certainly hope we reach a day where people don't need strangers to validate them anymore) but theirs got to be a litmus test of some kind, to know exactly how much pity someone is going to demand that they receive in this mess, if they still have their house & their family. Some of that pity & energy & finances really should really be going to people who are in far worse shape. There was a woman I saw being interviewed who lost her mother, her husband & her son. She watched the current rip her son away from her while he cried out to Jesus. Everyone else who just had property damage seems to pale in comparison, though that damage is also on a scale from bad yet fixable to really bad to tragic & unfixable

Angie I am grateful all of you are safe. When you spoke of a future video there are a few things I would like to add. I'm 75yrs, my two children are 30 and 90 minutes away and all of us live in No Calif. A few years ago, a very heavy snowfall hit us which left me on my own for a week and my daughter 16 days (son is in Tahoe so he only worried about me). I had bought three satellite phones, so we all communicated immediately which "I'm okay" is all we needed. The three are about $2500. a year but I can't afford Starlink. My children made sure my generator was a "push start" and my gas cans were 2 & 1/2 gallons, rather than 5, so I could lift them on my own which was a heaven sent. They had previously pulled my frig out to bring the cord from behind because I cannot move it. Lastly, I have a chargeable light with 2 detachable lights I recharge when the generator is on during the day. These things made riding it out manageable for a senior and hope it helps you with ideas.

The reluctance to get back to work is so relatable. I remember the days of living in Florida post-hurricane and having the expectation to still get DRESSED UP to go to the office because that area was further away and less affected and it was just like “y’all I had to shower in the damn sink , why do you even care about high heels right now” Now that I live in Oregon, I’ve been the one to teach my friends here about long-term emergency preparedness they’ve never needed to know until recently because we’ve had an increasing amount of devastating flash freezes in the winter that can leave huge swaths of the PNW devastated and without power for weeks. If you’re not feeling gift guides, maybe you can try using this opportunity to make some lists about home/auto/farm preparedness kits, emergency items, long-term food items to keep stockpiled, items people could purchase on registry for donation like generators, gloves, radios, batteries, chainsaws, charging devices, MRE’s and non-perishables, tools, clothes and toys, etc… they always say, speak what you know! The insight you have gained throughout this event is so invaluable to families across the country and you can really make a difference

Whew, your description is _EXACTLY_ how it was for us in Georgia. We have a small homestead and raise pigs, goats, and chickens. We had tons of food stocked, 4 fridges full, but we just never prepared for 8 days of no power. Luckily none of our vehicles were damaged and we were able to drive 40-miles up the road and get a bunch of cans of gasoline, which let me run a generator and the golf cart so that I could haul buckets of water up to the animals. The first few days were very scary and extremely exhausting. None of the trees hit our house, but a giant covered section of our barn ripped out of the ground and flew out and smashed the animal fence. The goats had a great time after the storm passed running around the yard until we were able to build a temporary fence. We also had really excellent insurance, but I was dismayed to discover that our deductible is going to be $5900 dollars because it's a "Named Storm". And because the roof is older, we're not going to get the full value for a replacement. Overall, I just feel disappointed that we've worked so hard to become more self-sufficient over the past 4 years only to discover that we were radically unprepared for something of this nature. :( Wishing you the best and hope we can all learn from this.

@Programming - is easy - I hope you see my comment. Do NOT Accept what your insurance company is telling you! They are Not your friend!! Go over their head! I am also from Georgia and I almost took a job years ago, where I would have traveled a lot, and we would have gone to different disaster areas. Most people are not thinking straight during these times, and my job would have been to be the person who dealt with the insurance companies For the victims. I don't remember the company name. By LAW, insurance companies HAVE TO put your property (roof) back to its Original condition. That's Why you have insurance! They should Completely cover the Entire Expense of your New roof, back to its ORIGINAL New Condition. Not Prorated; Age does Not matter! The Only thing you should have to pay is your deductible. Check your Entire dwelling (gutters, siding, screens Etc) Very closely. * Claim the cost of Food lost in your freezer's * The deductible should Not change until After All of the repairs on This claim (for any Future events; Not This one)! **Claim it ALL on the Same claim.** ** Of course insurance companies do Not want you to know this, and will likely Try to get out of it! Don't fall for it. I would call the insurance commissioner of Georgia. Also, you can call an attorney, and hopefully they would advise you. Insurance companies are going to lose billion$ over this Storm. They're in business to Make money; Not lose it. But, they have an obligation to you. There is also some type of disaster relief money that you might be able to get! Your goats fence might not be paid for; Not sure, since it's a homestead! Check your policy. On a lighter note, I'm glad they're able to run around & have fun!!

So sorry for you all in eastern Tennessee. It helps when there are individuals who post their own videos of the disaster on You Tube. This whole past week no videos of Tennessee have scrolled by. The only thing I've seen is a very short newscast from a TV news show days ago.

We are praying for all those affected in East TN and Western North Carolina and the other affected states as well. It is heartbreaking to see the massive damage from the flooding. We have been watching a lot of you tube channels which are videoing and sharing the people and communities that in need of food, water, power and internet services. Praying all those people in the difficult to reach areas will be helped soon. We will continue to support those organizations who are on the front lines of meeting basic needs right now.

Actually, there could have been plenty of ways had the governor listened to the NHC and the NOAA which you can Google it. By the way to fact, check me and gotten them out. They could have filled their bathtubs with water. Plenty of houses did make it now granted some didn't but they would have had sinks and tubs full of water. They could have stocked up on canned goods and non-perishables. Have stocked up on diapers and things that they might have needed. They could have prepped the animals to get them ready for this. They could have chose to have left the region. Let's not get it twisted there's a lot they could have done. The fact of the matter is that their Governor didn't give them that choice.

Many years ago my husband and I lived in Houston Texas and the big hurricane hit Houston. We were without power gas propane anything for three solid weeks. We learned even in the big cities when disaster hits you cannot rely on anything but yourself. You Will survive this and you will learn from this and you'll become a better stronger family after this. Remember not everybody was so lucky. We are very blessed to live in the United States, with people who help one another and that's how we survived in a disaster our neighborhood came together and neighbor helped neighbor with everything. And when the power comes back on it'll be a blessing and people will go back to their normal lives but you will never forget.

Amen, Agreed. + (John 14:6 > Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.) + Jesus is the ONLY way! + (1 Corinthians 15:51-57 > [51]Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed, [52]-In a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [53]-For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. [54]-So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. [55]-O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? [56]-The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. [57]-But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.) + (John 3:3 > Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.) + (John 3:5 > Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.) + These are non-negotiable statements by the Lord Jesus Christ, you have to believe on Him or there will be no "eternal life" for you! + (Romans 10:9-10 > [9]-That if thou shalt confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him form the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10]-For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.) + Romans 10:13 > For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.) + Have you been born again? Have you assurance of eternal life? Because the alternative is eternal damnation which is the part that the false preachers, teachers, and prophets always leave out, sin unto death! + Trust God for your salvation, Jesus is God. Amen! + All glory and honour and power and praise be to the Lord our God, Jesus Christ. Amen!

I too learned a lot and am currently working on a list of items we need to purchase like battery operated fans, power packs to charge devices and other items. It was so rough, the facility I work at took on water and we were up over 24 hours pushing water down drains. This was one of the worst storms. We finally got our power back and the internet is back as well. We are blessed and I know it. I hope things get better for you and your family.

I live in Houston Texas… And we just went through this with hurricane Beryl… we lost internet for 2 weeks, lost power for six days but a lot of people throughout our city lost power for two+ weeks… there was no gas, because gas stations need power to pump gas! Stores were closed because there was no power… unless you’ve been through it, you have no idea! No airco in Texas in the summer is no joke 🥵 Beryl was a hurricane of mostly major wind, so a lot of devastation because of fallen trees, power lines,etc! Hurricane Harvey was the rain… So major flooding! You are so right, the community pulls together and helps one another out!
