It was recommended by a friend that I visit a lady that needed propane for heating and a little help. To see someone somewhat downtrodden change to smiles and near tears is a different kind of human experience for me. I cannot unsee what I saw going into the area that I had visited many times during my youthful years. Such devastation was so unreal and unsettling for me. People there still seem to be on edge since the storm and are protective of their property. Although I was greeted with some skepticism, I understood. I have lived and roamed about upstate SC and many places in NC going on 50 years now. In very remote areas people are still suffering and likely afraid. I would suggest being kind, courteous, and plainly stating your intentions and who you wish to speak to, if known. More than 90 days later Helene is still affecting a huge part of the lives of so many people. 😢

​I was in a very bad car accident caused by another driver a little over three weeks ago in which my car was a total loss. I was supposed to get a rental SUV but it was in an accident on the way to the rental facility while I waited. God spared my life for a reason. I drove a rental minivan into places a bigger vehicle would have been very much more useful. I kept a promise to my friend and gained a new friend. The minivan went into places I never thought would be possible without 4 wheel drive and was covered in mud afterwards. I was do unsure, but also determined to reach the location. Our God is awesome.

If you are expecting angel tree to buy your kids expensive electronics or stuff your missing the point of what its for. Oh wow! You are in my area. That was Maggir Valley huh? Tube World with snow hill yo ride down. That prkng lot is the old Ghost Town pkng lot. And the beginning of road to drive up to the beautiful Ski Slopes Cataloochee ski area and Ranch! Most Southern slopes in East USA. My home in Florida was wiped out along with my two cars during Hurricane Helene in Sep and it's now Jan 4 2025 and me and my wife have been living in a hotel. waiting for insurance estimates and FEMA assistance. After insurance deducts depreciation on everything and FEMA hasn't provided any assistance since Sep 28, I'm projected to be $130,000 out of pocket after a contractor's estimate to fix my home.. I now have to decide if it is better to just sell my home and lot or fix the house and then try to sell it. I don't expect insurance to pay to restore my house to how it was before the storm surge, but I pay $5000.00 a year in Flood Insurance and I only get a fraction of replacement and nothing from FEMA. Depreciation is a wonderful way for insurance companies to reduce their payouts, but Flood insurance required by the government in addition to normal insurance should cover close to complete recovery to the home. Instead my insurance company depreciates everything I lost by 40-60% and I get nothing from FEMA for over 3 months. Congress needs to make significant reforms to Flood Insurance.

Great that you did that - it was a blessing - But - why make a video about it - that takes away from your kind act - people are coming in videoing and posting such videos - I wonder if any of these people that video and make money off of the videos - ever give money made from videos to rebuild my community - I’am from here and I don’t like it all videoed - it feels like we’re just explored for views
