Hurricane Milton became a Category 5 hurricane as it's path continued on track toward Florida on Oct. 7. The storm is heading toward the state in the aftermath of Helene, which left damage in both Florida and further north in Tennessee, Georgia as well as South and North Carolina.
In a video made months prior to hurricane season, the NOAA team explained how they track and measure data on storms, with everything from the hurricane's pressure to it's wind speed and more.

Who edited this?? Fire them immediately. I was so interested in hearing what he had to say and it kept cutting and the cutting was also terrible.

These are such insanely cool people. Putting themselves at risk to save other people is incredibly honourable. I hope they live long and happy lives.

You know you've flown through some real crappy weather when you say "that was it?" As a fellow pilot (I am required to mention this) I love it.

because this appears to be edited for news coverage. Only putting the good sots (sound over tape) to be used as sound bits under 20 sec usually or for VO (voice over) for an anchor to read over the video. It's not like an edited, polished reporter package. I work in news, so to me, that's why this looks "choppy" because a news station is supposed to chop this up for air.

It has been mentioned elsewhere that this is a raw assortment to be dispatched to news companies to cut into short bits, and to have their reporters voiceover. Etc.

It must be just exhausting for a pilot to fly in to these things for hours. Special Thank you to the pilots who fly these and of course the crew.. it to have to wit there is the captains seat and concentrate on keeping the plane at a certain altitude, etc…just exhausting

Round propeller tips, that's an old dog plane. Considering the wings fell off the first version of that plane, Lockheed got that airplane right. For a less bumpy ride Ice Pilots has one.

Amazing that people put themselves at risk to do this and provide such essential data. We Brits obsess about the weat and we do have our issues. However, for us anything that could even come close to what you are experiencing in the US is a once in a generation thing. The hurricanes that the USA is currently experiencing are becoming increasingly more devastating. I think its time to accept climate change is a reality and we need to address it pdq.

NOAA could be on the chopping block because they do science. Everyone knows a politician sitting in a comfortable country club is way better at protecting people from natural disasters than the guys that go out and see and measure what is really happening.

I have over 7000 hours in all kinds of planes, big and small. I’ve flown through some crazy ass weather. I’ve gotten tossed around by turbulence so bad I couldn’t see the displays on the flight deck. But you couldn’t pay me enough to fly through this crap 😂.
